Ever been so mad at a game you broke something?

Well, the other day I broke an xbox controller, and put a hole in my wall because of a stupid game. It got me thinking, hearing all the screaming on xbla, and knowing I can't be the only one who has lost his temper...who here has broken a game, controller or even system because of frustration from a game?

The first time I did this was with Evander Holyfield's Real Deal Boxing on the Sega. I was really good at that game, and had beaten it many times, even on the highest difficulty. One day I am playing and the game glitches and I turn it off. The next day I am playing and I get my ass kicked quick. After getting beat multiple times, I lower the difficulty. Same thing...I lower it to easy, on the first guy you face, and he beat me in under 1 minute. I was so pissed I jerked it out, and threw it at a wall, and it shattered.

I have since broken two controllers over the years. I understand that this is a stupid thing to do, but has anyone else gotten to that point?

I came close to breaking my controller last night trying to beat the last boss in X-men origins: Wolverine. I noticed in the thread on here people felt the same way about him. Cheap shot bastard! Still cant kill the asshole

No. I'll get pissed and maybe yell a curse word or two but never break something.

I have tossed controllers in disgust before but never broken them. Come on, they're an average of $45+ brand new

I broke plenty of NES controllers back in the day; we'd wrap the cord around our hands slingshot them to the basement floor -- it was more funny than anything. More recently I've hammer fisted a few of my 360 controllers in a MW2 rage -- but that's it. I've not broken anything, thankfully.

Wireless headset. Original Xbox. Halo 2.

It got chucked across the room into a wall. It was only a few days old, so I did the unscrupulous thing and took it back claiming it didn't work.

Threw my entire Gamecube out the window when Eternal Darkness glitched and erased all my saved games.

Re: Ever been so mad at a game you broke something?

I chucked a wiimote through the front of my rear projection tv.

Later claimed the strap broke.

To this day, my wife doesn't know the difference. She does, however, like the new plasma I got to replace the old RPTV.

Who the heck gets that mad at a wii game? Oh yeah, that's me.

Oops.

I will sometimes let the controller sort of...drop to the floor as if it doesn't even work when it seems like it doesn't (i.e. I got completely owned), but I've never thrown one or risked breaking something else expensive.

Lol, Starcraft online used to just make me furious. Dealing with the hackers and exploiters. I also got very angry at game hosts rigging the teams with all their buddies and I got the dumbest noobs on my team every time. Then they would gang up up on me 3 on 1 and tell me how bad I sucked. I've smashed a few keyboards as a result!

I've been pretty pissed at games, don't think I've ever broke anything over it. Certainly not these days with the ps3 and xbox controllers being as expensive as they are LOL

You guys need to chiiiiiiiiill. If it's not fun anymore, then just take a break. I've never broken anything, but my language does tend to get a bit salty when things get frustrating, so i'm not immune either!

You completely jogged my memory. Back in the day when a buddy and I lost our Zelda save for the second time (having nearly completed the game) we put his NES under one of the feet of a bed foot-board and jumped up and down on the bed under the NES buckled under the weight.

I almost threw my controller while playing one of the extreme tracks on Trials HD.

Here is the hole in my wall from my xbox controller...

I already threw away the controller, but it was in worst shape. I feel like such an idiot, but that game had to learn its lesson...

I have gotten very pissed with games over the past 30 years. I don't recall ever breaking anything though. Most recently I got so pissed with Bayonetta, I cussed that TV out like you wouldn't believe. I haven't played it since.

I don't do it anymore, but when I was a kid I would always slam the NES controller against the floor in frustration. Never broke one though, they really built some sturdy ass controllers back then.
Nowadays I just curse.

Re: Ever been so mad at a game you broke something?

I will admit to throwing some drumsticks after a few consecutive 90%+ failures. But I have a wide open expansive 1/2 of basement into which I can do the chucking where nothing is really in danger of breaking. The best I've done is chip the paint on one of the support columns.

I haven't done any serious controller slamming or chucking since the NES days. Don't remember ever breaking anything though... as Maxflier said, them there were some sturdy controllers.

Re: Ever been so mad at a game you broke something?

I've never broken anything, but when I was younger and would get pissed at a game I would scream into my pillow to let my frustration out.
Spoiler:
Technically, I was "younger" while trying to beat the mile high club on veteran in COD4 a few months ago.
