Developer interview with some really interesting points covered

- you can play offline or online and it is the same campaign.
- You can set it so that friends can jump in and they take the place of bots if you are in progress. goes from single player to co-op instantly. no waiting around to group up in lobbies
- You can enable voice chat with friends only - YES!

Not much here in the Qore Brink preview that we haven't seen before in the clips above. But here it is anyway:

Re: Brink Game official thread

Major Nelson just tweeted that Bethesda has pushed up the release date a week to May 10th.

I'm guessing they don't want to go head to head with L.A. Noire on the 17th.

That doesn't work for me. I'm making a big effort to clear my plate by the 17th in order to play L.A. Noire. Starting a new game one week before is not the way to do that. So it looks like this is now a game I'll wait for the price drop on (assuming good word of mouth).

No voice chat with randoms - at first I thought it could be a bad idea but then again I mute almost everyone who are not my friends anyways. Nobody wants to listen to 12 year old homphobic racists or teenage homeboys rockin TI in the background.

Anybody know when we can expect reviews of this to him? I'm thinking about using some Amazon credit to pick it up since it looks good, but I'd like to get some feedback first. I hope there isn't a review ban in place until the 9th or something along those lines.

My gut is telling me to hold off on this until reviews hit....

Re: Brink Game official thread

After watching more videos and visiting the offical Brink site...

http://brinkthegame.com/community/blogs/

I may have moved this ahead of Red Faction. I didn't realixe the depth of the coop play let alone of all the various ways of MP to the actual single player. It'll be interesting for how they handle future DLC but it looks better than I originally thought.

I'm definitely getting this. Hopefully it tames some of that desire for a new Borderlands game.

Weird. I get a big red McAfee warning when I click that link. Is this a legit site? Could you copy an embed link to post here instead?

edit : Guess this is it.

Re: Brink Game official thread

So how multi-player focused is this? Will it be worth getting if I don't go online with it?
(for the record, I really enjoyed Borderlands, and I never went online with it.)

From what I can tell it is similar to Borderlands in that you can chose to play independently or move straight into an online experience. However, you can switch classes on the fly (as the video above shows), but I don't know how affects leveling. I don't know if the levels apply to you in general, or the class you are playing at that time.

From a video I watched. No matter what class you are playing, any XP you earn during a round or whatever, you can apply to ANY class. XP is not class specific, just player specific.

Interesting, I didn't know that. It sounds like that could actually prove more of a challenge! Sometimes it's difficult enough to figure out how to apply attributes across A character.

Re: Brink Game official thread

I'm at least 90% going to get this. I wish I had some early reviews though. I refuse to preorder any new IP without seeing a few reliable reviews of the finished game first.

Re: Brink Game official thread

You would think they would put together an open beta or a demo before release in order to drum up some business/hype.

I haven't seen too many commercials on TV either. But every time a developer comes out with a beta ppl always bitch cause it has problems. I would skip that if I was making a games but if I knew it was good I would let it be reviewed.

Re: Brink Game official thread

Well, I went ahead an pre-ordered. I don't buy too many games, so the fact I'm blind buying this is a bit of a leap. I hope it turns out well.

Re: Brink Game official thread

I just don't see any point in pre-ordering it prior to reviews when the Kmart deal ($20 gaming coupon) is better than anything that anyone else is currently offering, especially for those who will be grabbing L.A. Noire the next week.
