So, are we in agreement that if someone is stuck on a level of a year-old game, they should start a new thread to ask for help since posting it in the existing game thread might cause them to see unobstructed spoilers? There's no easy answers here (well, besides using spoiler tags), but since we have another thread here that states people are basically idiots for buying just released new games, I think there might be some people who think playing a year-old game isn't reason alone to have the ending ruined for them.
No, i'm saying using some freaking common sense and go to gamefaqs.com and find the damn answer yourself! People shouldn't rely on message boards to find information if they fear having the game spoiled for them, because that's almost inevitable.

That about sums it up. It comes down to protecting people without common sense enough to stay out of a thread where they might see something they're not ready to. Protecting them from themselves.

How about adding a spoiler tag shortcut like [st][/st]? Maybe that will silence the whiners and babies?

That's a fair point. You don't even have to go to gamefaqs usually. I don't look things up often when playing a game, but when I need to, all I usually have to do is go to google and type in the title and the first couple letters of the area where I'm stuck. There are worlds of message boards out there where people are posting about every little area in a game.

Punished by using spoiler tags?
