Re: NBA JAM to be released in 2010 for the Wii

Has there been any word on whether or not the missing game modes will be available to download for the 360/PS3 versions?

There hasn't been any plans on a standalone 360/PS3 version yet, right? It's only via a code with NBA Elite? I have zero interest in that game over NBA 2K11, but i'd easily pay $20+ for NBA Jam.

How many people would rather play as one of those guys instead of 7'7" Manute Bol and team him up with Arenas or John Wall?

No, you have to buy NBA Elite. The version you would get with it is limited to quick play, classic mode (which is the single-player campaign, presumably), and online. That's not bad, as the campaign and online is what most people will play anyway. The Wii version also has something called Remix Tour, where "players can take on other teams and classic players like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson in standard games with specific rules as well as a variety of unique minigames."

The Wii version has no online play, so you can't even get a version with everything. I was wondering if they would offer the Remix Tour as DLC for the PS3/360.

Yeah, I know about the game play modes, I was just curious if there was anything announced about the game other then being a part of Elite. Hopefully a couple months down the line it will released separately.

Damn I was hoping for Keith Van Horn to be on the Nets Legends roster. Still, Drazen is a nice touch.

West rosters are up too --

Based on what I played of Live 09's simulation mode, it looks like they actually had to slow down the gameplay and improve defense in order to create NBA Jam's arcade mode.

I'm a long-time 2k fan, but I'm going to be very tempted to pick this up if the price of Elite ever sinks to around $15 or codes go up on eBay. Including an unlockable Bill Clinton and the Suns' gorilla would be the kind of zany touches to make the decision easier.

I can't imagine how many hundreds of games of the original I've played on Sega Genesis. It's awesome to see pairs like Ewing/Starks and Malone/Stockton back in business.

I'm with Stiney Mo on this one : How the hell do you skip Mutombo (in ugly rainbow uniform) for the Nuggets and replace him with a Mountain Lion? That makes zero sense.

Probably the contractual issues that he mentions. It sucks that it's kept out a lot of legends.

It's too bad....I was hoping they'd have the Barkley/KJ combo again like the original SNES. I'm an AZ native, so the Suns are definitely my team. Maybe I'll go small and super speedy with Nash/KJ -- at least KJ should have some dunking abilities!

I just hope they're in the HD versions. The part about completing challenges makes me wonder if that's a mode they won't get.

Re: NBA JAM to be released in 2010 for the Wii

Okay I picked this up today. Had $10 worth of Reward Zone coupons, so I splurged at Best Buy.

You have 2 options on how to control the game:
1) Traditional style using the control pad
2) Using the Wii remote attached to the nunchuk.

Shooting is about timing using an up and down movement with the Wii remote. The nunchuk is used to control the player and the Z button also acts as a Turbo. The B button on the Wii remote is for steals and combine that with Z and you can shove the opposing player.

Dunking is also about timing when your in a running motion and moving toward the basketball, you move the Wii remote in an up and down fashion to dunk.

It took me awhile to get used to it, but I think I managed to get the hang of it. I played 2 games as the Lakers. 1st I faced the Heat with Lebron and lost by 10 points as I was still getting used to it. Played a 2nd game against the T-Wolves and won by 20.

I had forgotten what the release date was. I may have to hit up Costco this weekend because now I'm really itching for this game. IGN gave it a pretty solid review.

Re: NBA JAM to be released in 2010 for the Wii

This is going to be a boxed game for 360 and PS3, at the same $50 price (release date Nov. 16). I presume these will have the same feature set as the Wii version. Shirley they can't be expecting you to pay the full price and leave out modes, although if they still offer the game free with Elite (is that even coming out?) I'd expect it to be the cut down version.

I don't know if the PS3 version supports the Move. It doesn't have the icon on the box, but I'm not taking that as a confirmation that it doesn't. However, Amazon's page for the game has the Move displayed, so maybe they've been told that it does.

I picked this up for the Wii and now the 360 version came out. Shit!! The 360 version has online play which is very appealing to me.
