Do you like to play it twice?
When I play a new game that I like, I get all into it. it consumes every ounce of my spare time and I play it straight through to the end weather it takes a day (like MW2) or 2 weeks (Borderlands). But, once I finally "beat" it, I'll check out the online multiplayer or DLC and play through that, and then I'm done. I very very rarely will play a game through twice. I never go through the game on harder difficulties after the first playthrough. I've even done online games like World of Warcraft and I stick with those till I get my level maxed and explore all the dungeons, then I get bored and quit. (I really hate doing the same dungeon twice and that's what WOW is all about.)
So just wondering, anyone else like me out there? do you play games once and then stick it on your shelf and never look back? Or do you pick one and just keep going and going?

Most games I will only play once. There are exceptions -- I think I've played through Bioshock 2 or 3 times -- but for the most part, it's one playthrough and that's it.

I play most games through 1 time unless it is amazing. i don't have alot of spare time to play games, so i have a large backlog to get through.

Re: Do you like to play it twice?
I don't do it nearly as much as I used to, but there's still a handful of games that I've played through multiple times in the past few years. Bioshock is the one that first comes to mind (played through that one probably 4-5 times), but out of my "best of 2009" list I definitely played through Uncharted 2, inFAMOUS, Ratchet & Clank, and Resident Evil 5 more than once. Really, if there's an open world aspect or a lot of side-missions, I probably won't play through it more than once (inFAMOUS being the obvious exception, since there were separate good/evil paths to take).

Since the 360 came out I've been playing through games more than once more than ever before. Between genuinely great games and Cheevo Points I've been getting my money's worth. I've even gone a second time on some not so great games....I'm talking to you Mass Effect.
This is one of the reasons why game makers should allow you to keep your Leveled up Characters and such after finishing a game the 1st time.

Very rarely. 1/3 way through 2nd playthrough on Borderlands, 1/4 way through 2nd playthrough on Bioshock. I've got other games I want to play that I haven't played once yet. I have in previous generations (Final Fantasy Tactics and Shining Force got multiple playthroughs), but not very often now. Too many other good games, and too little free time.

I usually only play through once. Too many games to play, and I take too long to get through them in the first place.

There are a lot of games I finish and immediately start over on a higher difficulty because I enjoyed it so much. I almost always abandon the second playthrough after an hour or two in favor of a new game.

I always think I'll go back and redo some of the rpgs with multiple choices, like Mass Effect, but I have yet to do so. Even something that I enjoyed as much as Fallout 3 is back on the shelf, and I bought the extra DLC recently too.
The bigger problem is that I don't even play through all of the games I buy, and my backlog spans system generations now... and I still think I'll someday go back and finish. Like I'm ever going to go back and finish all of these PS1 rpgs.

Re: Do you like to play it twice?
Hardly ever. There are games that I wanted to play through more than once, but just never got to it, or when I started I decided better against it. But I'm more of a straight play through kind of guy anyway. I don't do all the side quest, or collectathons. I just do the main thing, and keep it moving.
That said, I can see myself replaying Batman:AA and Beyond Good and Evil again (if they ever come out with the sequel).

Re: Do you like to play it twice?
Depends on the game but usually I do. I play through on the normal difficulty first and then if I really like the game I will go through it again on hard/veteran. Also depends on the backlog of games I have. If I have a couple of other quality games hanging round I will play those and then come back to an older game, Bioshock comes to mind.

Re: Do you like to play it twice?
I do if it's a good game. Since I don't have much time to play, it's often easier to just replay a level of something I know than learn something new. In cases like The Orange Box, it took me so long to get through the various chapters of Half Life that I didn't go back through any of them (did try a bit of Portal).

Playing multiple times? I'm lucky if I can finish a game that I start.

Re: Do you like to play it twice?
I rarely finish games anymore...but lately, with a FPS I will play through the single player (as most are pretty short) and then the rest is all multiplayer.
Sports games are different....I sometimes play through multiple seasons
