I tried the other 2 and they had both been redeemed as well. Just an FYI since whoever grabbed them couldn't be bothered to post and save others the time.

No lurkers. I used one, Mr X used the other. We both posted our thanks here. Those posts have disappeared now. Must have something to do with when the site went down for maintenance.

Does the error affect hard drives at all? If I decide to just buy a replacement, can I just pop the 120gb hd off it and stick it on any new xbox - elite or otherwise?

I'm leaning towards a repair vice replacement, but any tips/suggestions appreciated.

thanks.
Same thing happened here but on replacement they sent back in May 2010. They expect me to pay for the repair of the replacement unit! What a joke, it barely lasted 6 months and they I have to pay to get it fixed. My 3 years warranty expired in November 2010 they told me. I am thinking of going the same route as above but I don't think the older harddrives work with the newer systems otherwise I would just buy the one for $199. It will cost $99.00 + for the repairs.

From what I read...you can take the hard drive out of the "case" and stick it in the new 360. you may need something (piece of cardboard) to hold it in place, or you can by a new case here

Tutorial for removing hard drive from case can be found here

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

I bought a new silver controller from Amazon, you know the one with the new d-pad? I tossed the play and charge kit aside since I just use the rechargable packs with the quick charge kit. After charging the battery up, I tossed it into the controller to sync it.

After five minutes of playing NHL 11, I get the "please reconnect your controller" message. My first thought was maybe the battery wasn't fully charged. So I reconnect, and check the battery. Full battery bar status.

Five minutes after that, it does it again. Again I reconnect and check the battery. Same result. Finally, it does it one more time before the game is over.

Do you think I have a bad controller or battery? I also noticed the triggers squeak, and the left stick tends to gravitate to the down position, which is annoying in menus.

I'd try a full replacement from Amazon first. Then try Microsoft support under warranty. I think Decker has done this before and even didn't have to send the bum one in due to shipping costs or something.

I requested a new one through Amazon, but they are backordered one to three weeks.

I'll try playing Borderlands and Castle Crashers tomorrow, and see if it was confined to just one game.

It's a pretty cool controller, though.

I get that same issue when my rechargeable batteries aren't quite touching the connectors all the way. I'd try adjusting it somehow.

I just tried it again, and it kept disconnecting again. This time playing Borderlands. Oh and now it goes to the left, too. I'll be standing still, yet turning to the left in circles.

What a pos controller. I hope all of them aren't like this. I should have clarified the controller is cool looking, not cool in general.

I'm pretty sure it's the battery pack not connecting right. What happens if you us AA's. That way you can actually see if it's the controller?

Going off of memory, didn’t someone also say the battery packs included with the new controllers could only be charged with the play and charge kit included?

Yeah. Should be charged with included cable. You should definitely try the controller with AA batteries before you do anything else.

Nope. I use the quick charge kit just fine. PnC kit is still in the package.

I was finally credited with my 220 points from the Rewards program. They still show up as pending on the Rewards site, but https://billing.microsoft.com confirms that I have indeed received the points.

Played some more Dance Central this afternoon. We need some Michael Jackson songs as DLC - particularly Thriller.

Far more likely to see "Michael Jackson: Dance Central" than any DLC.

Which would be cool but also puts the game much longer out since I imagine it would be something more like RB: Beatles. I want exporting to one platform like in the base RB games.

I also want to play some MJ songs sooner rather than later.

Isn't there a Michael Jackson dance game from someone else coming out in a few months? I would assume they had an exclusive on his songs.

You'll play Alien Ant Farm's "Smooth Criminal" and you'll like it.

I have played it and I do like it. But now I want to Dance it. Perhaps even centrally.

I take back my snark. I interpreted "also play" to mean on RB. Though, actually, MJ on RB would be great.

Let me amend that: MJ up to his Bad era on RB would be great.

Yup. It's called "Michael Jackson: The Experience". It's on the Wii already, and there's a 360/Kinect port coming soon. So...I would imagine that they have a lock on all MJ content, at least as a timed exclusive.
