Okay. I have not heard of anyone winning from the GM promotion I listed earlier. i will keep trying and report back if I do win (or someone wins.) However, here is a new promotion. This one is enter once daily. Winners announced weekly. (The same terms for that previous promotion that people won so many points from.)
This one is sponsored by Spalding. You can win 800 points each week! Text shot1, shot2 or shot3 to 74139. If your first shot misses, you can take another shot. Once you make your shot, that counts as your chance for the day. Yesterday and today I have "made my shot" with shot3. |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Thanks, man. I sunk my third shot today as well.

Well just got the e74 error with a quarter red ring. I'm out of the warranty period so I'm going to go out and purchase another one in the next week or so.
Regarding data transfer from the hard drive, what needs to be done to bring everything over to the new hard drive. I've heard of the data transfer cable that you can use but just wondering if there is anything I should watch out for or to keep in mind. |

Unless you just want to buy a new one no matter what, I'll bet even if you are truly OOW, they'll still fix it for free. The last 360 that gave me an "Error" and red lights was OOW according to their site, but when I called they had no problem doing it for free. |

I bought it in oct 06 from costco of all places but i will give it a shot and see what ms says. I got the old 20g so I figure if I have to get a new one it'll be one of the upgraded models with less issues that these older ones have.

I don't see anything bad about that. That's why you are paying a membership. Unless I'm really sure, what I've done in the past is just ask, I don't bring anything, I just go to CS and show my receipt and ask if I can return it, if it's covered under their "warranty". I've only done that one or two times and they have said yes.

Imsoniac Games (Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank and Resistance) is going to develop a game for the Xbox 360.

After this one died on me i sent it in for repair and went out and bought another one. The new one just died this morning and i can't find the fricking receipt for it. I'm hoping Wally World will just let me switch the system out for another one and let me keep the hard drive so i don't lose all my saves/DLC.

Why not back up all of your saves to a USB drive just in case?

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Yeah it's completley dead, nothing loads up except an E79 Error Screen so i can't back it up now. I might start doing that in the future before it dies so i don't run into this problem again.
I was able to exchange the dead system for another one and keep my hard drive so I'm happy. :D |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
I don't know if this will still work (it's an old card I found while cleaning out some stuff), but here's a free month of XBox Live if anyone wants it.

Hey, I used it. Thanks. I missed out on the Netflix promo X 2, so this sort of makes up for it. :)

Has anybody successfully used a Tivo Wireless Adapter to connect their 360 to the internet?

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Sorry if this has been asked multiple times, but are there any viable alternatives to the official 360 wireless adapter or should I just suck it up and pay the $90?

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Alternatives exist, but it's a matter of what you're willing to do.
I, for example, use a Buffalo WHR-54GS router flashed with dd-wrt to turn it into a 4-port wireless bridge. It's cheaper and more flexible, but requires another power outlet and isn't as elegant because it doesn't clip onto the xbox. |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
There are some 3rd party adapters that work with the 360. Check out the TRENDnet Wireless N Gaming Adapter. Amazon has it on sale for $45.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Basically any wireless bridge will work. A wireless bridge is connected to the 360 using an ethernet cable (network cable, RJ45, etc.).
I'm using a refurbished Linksys wireless N bridge, $20 or so, in my Arcade console. I'm also using an official Wireless G adapter in my Elite and I don't see any difference between them. |

The best now is $39.99 at Best Buy. If you want to wait for a better deal, you can bide your time with a $12.49 3-month card (shipped) from Buy.com. You might find another $30-$35 12 month card in that time. |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
They are also offering 1 month through the Dashboard for only a $1.

There are Live deals left and right all the time. Where are my damn deals on MS Points?! That's what I really need!

Looks like Hulu is coming to Xbox Live. Sounds like they will announce it at E3.

Another reason to keep my gold subscription to live even thought I never play online... |

What's the fee though? That's the question we need to know.

Hulu would get me to buy a second 360.

Could this be the catalyst that forces Netflix to silver users? Hulu for Gold subscribers?

Im sure this gets asked every other week.. but i dont really follow the thread, so....
once you see the RROD, can you pretty much expect it to keep coming back until you're eventually dead? i saw it on my 1 1/2 yr old elite for the first time a couple days ago.. my son says he saw it before in the past, but didnt tell me (not sure if this is true... powering off, and back on.. the xbox came back up since then.. i have seen it 2-3 more times.. each time, either disconnecting power, blowing the dust out of the back, etc... has got it to come back up.. the last thing i did.. was blow out all the dust.. and since then, its been coming on and off without issue... but was just curious if seeing the RROD meant imminent failure and that i should go ahead and start on the repair/replacement process? |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Having just cut the cable a week and a half ago, having direct access to Hulu through the 360 would be perfect! Hopefully they tie in ESPN3 too.

I'm not aware of any stories where a person got the red ring a few times, and the system didn't eventually die, but maybe someone else has better information.

Quick question. I have had problems lately streaming my computer videos to my Xbox. I can't seem to find any folders or files anymore. Any tips? I'm running Windows 7. It worked fine when I had Vista. |
