I am kind of cracking myself up with the game.

See giant space ship?
Punch it to death.

See enormous turtle demon?
Punch it to death.

See god larger than a planet?
Grow multiple arms and punch it to death.

It may be one of the most just purely fun games I have played in a while.

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

About 2 months ago I took a ton of coins to Coinstar and got about 80.00+ in Live points. Redeemed the codes as soon as I got home and the points just sat in my account until the other day when I went to buy an arcade game. Suddenly my balance was 40 points. Turns out my transaction history show that just over a week ago someone bought 3 full games on demand and an add on for another game. I spoke to an XBOX rep and they are going to refund the points and I've already changed my password, security question and had my account locked to prevent further purchases.

I'm kinda unsure about how the fuck I got hacked. Part of my thinks it was because of the dashboard beta. The other part finds it odd that that one of the last games I played, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, just so happened to be one of the full games this person bought. Just seems like an odd coincidence.

Pretty confusing and frustrating experience but hopefully it is resolved now.

That was quick. Mine got hacked about 18 months ago and it took a full month before my account was reinstated and points were refunded.

They e-mailed me yesterday requested more information about my account and case so right off the bat I assumed I was going to get screwed. I gave them the basic info they asked for and then wrote the equivalent of a college thesis about the case and some facts I had gathered about the problem I encountered. I e-mailed them this info around 10 pm last night and by the time I got up this morning the case had been researched and they e-mailed me codes to make up for the lost points. I guess my rambling didn't hurt my case.

Had to switch to points to get it for free, but it worked.

Well, this was a disappointing email to receive. Partner and I converted our individual Gold accounts into a Family account about 2 years ago to save some money.. Now it looks like they are getting rid of Family Gold and converting all Family Gold accounts to individual Gold accounts. Guess we're back to spending more to keep our GamerTags, since we both want our own. Still worth having the service though.

Although the upside is that we'll be able to use Gold cards on sale now. You couldn't do that with a family gold account. So, back to watching for deals on 12 month cards.

Xbox Live Gold Family Pack Conversion to Individual Memberships

As a valued Xbox Live Gold member, we'd like to thank you and your family for being part of the Gold community.

We continually evaluate our offerings and are always working to provide services that best meet the needs of our customers.
  • Starting August 27, 2013, we will be converting each activated account on your Gold Family Pack to an individual Xbox Live Gold membership to prepare for new upcoming features on Xbox Live Gold. Rest assured, each individual membership will work on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
  • Through the new Home Gold feature on Xbox One, a single Xbox Live Gold membership will allow anyone in your home to enjoy many Gold features like multiplayer, access to Gold entertainment apps, and more on your Xbox One.*
  • As a bonus, we will give each converted individual Xbox Live Gold membership from your Gold Family Pack an extra 3 months of Gold (in addition to the time remaining on your membership term).**
  • Before your memberships convert, you can still add family members to your Xbox Live Gold Family Pack, for a total of up to four accounts. However, any unassigned secondary accounts will no longer be accessible after your conversion. Please be sure to update your secondary accounts here.

After your memberships convert, the only Gold Family Pack features that will no longer be available are activity monitoring reports and Microsoft Points allowances. Activity monitoring reports will deactivate at the time of Gold Family Pack conversion, whereas the Microsoft Points allowance feature will no longer be available after the next Xbox 360 system update. Xbox Live family settings, including parental controls for what your kids can access and play on or offline, will still be available.

We hope you enjoy your 3 bonus months of Xbox Live Gold and continue to benefit from your Xbox Live Gold memberships on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Sincerely,
The Xbox Live Team

If it's just you two, getting individual annual subscriptions on sale is cheaper than the family plan was. The Family plan was $100, while single subscriptions can be had for $35 a year, so $70 for two.

We are using 3.... One for each of us, and a shared one kind of as a way to have a bigger friends list (in a round about way).. But I get your point.. For just two accounts, we'll be dropping the third once the converted time and 3 months free runs out, and just going with two and watching for deals on 12 month cards. So yeah, in the long run it works out for us.

I may be wrong, but it seems like with Gold Home you'll only need one account. Everyone in your home gets Gold access. If I visit you and log into my profile from your console, I can play multiplayer even if you're not logged in. If you're profile is active on my console, I can play multiplayer for as long as you remain.

Are you talking about one console Canis? If so it's now one Gold account with many Gamertags. This should be a better deal.

Canis Firebrand 08-09-13 06:49 PM

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

My current setup is two 360s... I have my 360 with my gamertag and content. Partner has his with his gamertag and content. We're getting a single XB1 at launch and keeping a 360 to be able to play older games, arcade games, and because I have a ton of Rock Band DLC and we have rock band nights occasionally where I supply the console since I have more songs.

We've been a two gamer household and have both had our gamertags for a while, about 10 years or so. We may be able to go to one Gold account using my gold account, as its the primary. Set it up on the XB1 in the living room. That way its got my Gold and partner can use it when he wants and get gold, even though his gamertag would revert to silver. Then when I want to play on the 360, I'd just use my gamertag since its gold.

I think that should work.. Or we both just keep gold and make sure we're getting cheaper gold by watching for sales and deals on the 12 month cards. Eventually we should pick up a second XB1 console when more of our friends get them, for multiplayer games. At launch, only a handful are getting an XB1 so it won't be as big of an issue. But once the rest do, we'll probably want a second one to be able to play games like Halo 5(or whatever its called), Assassins Creed, etc.

Hopefully that all makes sense.

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

And after talking a bit, we might not have to worry about knocking his gamertag down to silver for a while. Until we get a second XB1, down the line, he wants to keep his 360 as well since many of our friends aren't getting an XB1 and he doesn't want to be left out of multiplayer games we play together.

So... 2 gold accounts for the next year roughly.

That's not bad. Just need to find a $35 deal and you're coming out ahead.

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

Just got this email:

After the next Xbox 360 system update, when you next choose to initiate a purchase or redeem a Points card or code with your Microsoft account, we’ll put into your account an amount of currency equal to or greater than the marketplace value of your Microsoft Points. Your Microsoft Points will be retired, and you’ll immediately be able to use your new funds, in addition to other current payment methods available in your region, to purchase content from your favorite Xbox stores – or the Windows Phone Store on Windows Phone 8.

Xbox Gift Cards (denominated in your local currency) will be available through our online retailers’ websites and in local retail stores starting in late 2013, and can be added to your Microsoft account at that time. In the meantime, please continue to purchase and redeem Microsoft Points cards and codes – we’ll accept them until further notice. The funds we put into your account at the time of the transition will expire in June 2015.

Sorry, but this is complete shit. Microsoft is forcing this transition, and then sets an expiration date for the funds, when currently the points have no expiration?

I don't care if the expiration is tomorrow, two years or ten years from now. If I bought points that had no expiration date, putting an expiration on them is bullshit.

Yes it's bullshit. Not much we can do about it though.

dashboard update. bye bye points, hello real money.

RichC2 08-26-13 03:15 PM

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

I don't care about them expiring, but wouldn't points technically constitute a "gift card" and as such aren't they required to honor the points for at least 5 years?

SoonerDoc 08-26-13 06:15 PM

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

Well, I do care, because of the principle of the matter. Why should they all of a sudden have an expiration date, when they didn't before?

Michael Corvin 08-26-13 06:17 PM

Re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

Yeah, if it wasn't printed on the card when you bought it, they shouldn't expire. Simple as that.
