In addition, it will be seen as a hub to a number of devices to carry an "X" branding, one of which will be the much-rumoured 7-inch gaming tablet, which Pocket-lint has learnt will be called X-Surface, not Xbox Surface as previously thought.
The X-Surface will not be a Windows 8 or Windows RT device, we have been told by a tipster very close to the project who, naturally, wishes to remain anonymous. Instead, it will be a standalone portable gaming system. On launch, we are informed, it will be able to access the games, music and video hubs of the new Xbox, but will not have any apps of its own. It will not have a desktop as part of its operating system, rather be entirely focused on playing full console-quality games.

I know it is off topic but I found it amusing to see the "leak" and misinformation fall perfectly in line with the book I am reading.

He talks about how he did exactly that to get stories and press for his clients.
---
On topic.
I am excited for a new system but a little anxious about how things will transfer. I really hope all my digital content transfers.

Pulled from CAG, but you can win a bunch of prizes including Gears of War Judgement DLC or Dance Central goodies if you drink Lipton Iced Tea (DC) or Brisk Iced Tea (GoW). Or you can get free entries by texting "dance" or "game" to 87963. The first time you do it, you'll have to reply with your email address. But after that, a total of 5 free text entries per day.

New maps for Black Ops II hit yesterday. What do you guys think?
Personally, I love the skate park map. The hydro plant is also good. Desert map is almost as good as the skate park. The ski resort map is kind of just ok imo.
Haven't tried the new zombies map since I don't understand the zombies game.
Also the new gun is good... but bad for the game imo. So far seems way too powerful. An SMG with AR power? Blah, like the game needed another reason for people to only roll with SMGs.

I had an error code pop up a few weeks ago. Don't recall the exact code but a router reset did the trick.

I've been getting that code off an on this past week. At least once I went online and confirmed it was a Live outage. This morning it happened again so I manually checked my connection, re-validated my login and everything worked.

Exclusive "gaming launch partner" just means it won't be on PS3 or WiiU or OUYA or similar for the foreseeable future. As the service hasn't officially launched yet, that doesn't really mean anything either.
I'm in the middle of my free trial month and haven't used it at all because I don't want to watch on my iOS devices (since AirPlay is disabled) or my computer. I'd rather it come to Apple TV along with HBO Go, but this at least entices me to continue the $8/mo subscription, especially since it comes with 4 free kiosk rentals per month.

I'm in the beta as well but haven't used it. Looking forward to seeing it in action on a console though.

The "always online" thing is worrisome. Mostly because my ISP (AT&T) goes out fairly often.

I would wager that the "always on" thing means it validates your game the first time you play it and downloads some kind of ID to your console. There's NO WAY they can expect people to be connected all day every day.

Always online won't happen. There's no way Microsoft wants to deal with the blowback from that. I'm guessing the anti-used tech will turn out to be a false rumor as well. I hardly even buy used games anymore, but I often either sell or trade in a game when I'm finished with it. I won't buy a console that makes that an impossibility.

Though, here is something I thought about. If they push always online and/or no used games, the piracy community would be huge as long as you didn't want to go online. Modded Box 720, piece of cake. People would be practically giving away or throwing away used discs they can't do anything with and then the modders would figure out a way to hack the living crap out of it. Console ID or dummy file, I can't see a way that would be a problem for modders at all.
Also...no used games, has somebody thought about the ecological concerns? People will throw games out and only contribute to waste. And before anybody brings it up...the average consumer does not recycle. Period.

FWIW....Tiger Direct has the 12 Month Live Cards for $35.00 with Free Ship. I was looking on Amazon since mine is up early next month and saw it listed. I hope it's legit. Haven't ordered from Tiger Direct in a long time and everyone else is like $45-55.
