Hrmmm, wonder if they would allow in-store pickup. I really don't want to venture into an actual store Friday (or the weekend if I can help it). I'm liable to sock somebody or my wife will do it for me .

Yeah. Just ordered the HD stream. Looks like a cool feature. You can see which Friends have ordered it too, which is pretty clever.

Is there any word on when the Fall Update will be ready? I'll be buying a Kinnect on Black Friday so I can take advantage of the new user interface.

Dang, I had registered a few days ago without reading the above information about how to properly get it going. I just "played" it from my download history. Do you think there is any chance I'll get the beta channel by tomorrow?

But there's also a chance you won't.

Re : the cloud saving. It seems that they've enabled it to be another choice of device to save your game progress to, like a HD, USB stick or the console's on-board memory. I much prefer the way the PS Plus does it, with optional auto- backup of all your console saves. The 360 doesn't have that option, does it?

I've been playing with Kinect-voice-enabled Bing searching for a few minutes. I'm getting a lot of asterisks in my textual representations. If I want to search for and have access to the following things on my xbox, who is Microsoft to tell me I can't?

Where to hide a body
Titties
Bullshit
Redtube
Pussy
Cock and balls
Porn

And when I searched "vagina", I certainly did not expect to see this as the first result, but it makes sense:

Dash update for all coming December 6th

While many of you have been involved in the Xbox LIVE Preview Program and have been busy getting an early look at the next Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE features, I wanted to let you know that the official release for the update for all Xbox LIVE members will be Tuesday, December 6th. In this update, free to all console owners, you will see:

New personal and social features including Cloud Storage for Game Saves and LIVE Profile
Beacons and Facebook Sharing
Enhanced Family Settings
Integrated voice and gesture controls across the dashboard and in apps
Bing voice search (Available this year in the US, UK and CA)
In addition to all these great dashboard features, starting on December 6th and continuing on an ongoing basis through the holiday months, a wealth of new content will be coming to Xbox 360. New, customized applications for television, movies, internet videos, sports and music will begin rolling out from world-leading providers in more than 20 countries.

The layout is way, way better. Even if you don't have (and especially if you don't use) a Kinect.

Though saying "Xbox, Play Pinball FX2" and having it work was pretty bad ass last night.

Might be faster than waiting on the games list to populate.

One minor detail that will probably get overlooked is that the cursor starts on the game disc square unlike the current dash that boots up to the spotlight channel.

My only gripe thus far is the giant square is used for ads instead of my content. The game disc square should be front and center and the ads pushed to the 4 squares on the sides.

The dash update was necessary since there was no way to launch a non-disc based game using the Kinect before this. Overall I do like it better, especially on the console with the Kinect. But I do miss seeing my Friends standing in front of something on the Premium themes. No need to get any more without that feature.

Really? I'm interested in Cloud Storage in case the hard drive ever fails.

As I posted before, if it were implemented like they do on the PS3 with Playstation Plus, it would be great -- an auto-backup of your game saves to the cloud. The 360 cloud storage just works as another storage device. You could go through and copy all your saves to the cloud after every time you play something, I suppose, but it seems very labor-intensive. Perhaps there's a way to copy all your game saves to the cloud at once; I haven't tried to do that yet.
