I started going through the music store, and it was obviously taking forever with all the content I have. I decided to check if I could just use it as a USB drive, and it worked like a charm.
Having just gotten a new slim, I tried plugging the old drive into my computer via transfer cable. While the drive spun up, I couldn't access any of the files. Do I need some newfangled transfer cable (mine is the one that came with the original 120GB upgrade)?

Computer or console?

I just used the transfer cable from the 120 gig drive to transfer everything from my 120 gig to the new 250 gig slim. You do also need the disc (as well as the cable).

Netflix app is updated with Kinect support, per Major Nelson.

Ironically I saw the kids get the update as they were watching this morning before the bus and it didn't even occur to me that it may be that update.

It's ironic that you're not paying attention to your kids now?

according to reports, the kinect support for netflix sucks balls due to it being limited to "suggestions for you."

Ironic that I was expecting that update with the preview program and, when I saw it come in as the kids were watching (because I do pay attention), it didn't even occur to me that this update would do that. Plus it's been so long since there was an update, I should have been even more suspicious of it.

Yeah, that's woefully disappointing. Not that I'd use it anyway but the fact that Kinect seems to be all innovation and no application is sad.

Some shitty made-for-tv Disney (or something) movie called Minutemen. Then they tried to watch something even shittier called Hatching Pete, but I made them go wait for the bus.

NF's "Suggestions for Brent" are totally lame.

I agree piñata. I really enjoy Kinect and my family has had a blast with Sports, Adventures, and Dance Central. For Easter I got my daughter Kinectimals since she loved the demo.

But then it looks like nothing else is coming down the road. It is crazy that MSoft doesn't appear to be buying/bribing companies to just fill the pipeline with software for the device and make it a must-have item.

Maybe they are waiting to wow us at E3?

Gunstringer will re-justify my purchase. And I can't wait to see something about Steel Battalion. But that's all I know I kinda care about. Actually, I have my Kinect disabled now because I can't stand to wait the 3 seconds it takes to initialize on startup. Too busy.

That would be nice.

I want to see more on Gunstringer and Steel Battalion as well... but I worry SB is going to be dumb.

I am also wanting a good workout game. I hate Sports Active 2. Maybe the UFC one will get good reviews.

Yeah, so far it's all about the Gunstringer and Child of Eden.

I don't know why I still have my Kinect set up. I don't know why I didn't take the god-damned thing back to the store the day I bought it. Maybe one of those games will justify it.

I'm hoping Child of Eden wows me. I never got into Rez but I also played it way after the fact (when it hit XBLA actually) so maybe CoE will strike a chord with me if I play it in the correct generation.

How was the Kinect portion of that new Harry Potter game? Any fun?

I was initially disappointed with the Kinect integration on Netflix, but I did end up find it somewhat useful. The speech commands are nice since 99% of the things on there are long enough for the wireless control to shut off during playback, so it saves me from having to search for the controller if the room is dark and I just want to pause it for a minute.

It will be especially nice (at least for me) since the controller shuts itself off. I don't have a remote/Harmony for this current setup.

^ I actually just picked up a 2nd xbox remote on clearance at Target for $14. The 15-minute shutdown of the controllers each 22-minute episode is quite annoying.

Ugh just got my first red light and I'm sending it off to Microsoft. Still, it made it 3.5 years.

Is there anyway to disable Kinect connectivity with Netflix? It's a bit annoying having that floating hand on top of my movie.
