I don't think searching for Tony Hawk was necessary, but since the sales thread was already created this one was unnecessary. If that didn't exist I don't think this one would be a big deal.

Interesting. What if... what if... pinata and jeff are the same person??? Both names end in numbers, 42 and 34. 42-34 = 8 and 8 means... Just think about it. |

Not to be a junior mod or anything, but when that happens repeatedly it really annoys me. It's an "Attention Whore" tactic.

Still...I called it in May. Back then, I called it a big flamebait turd that the author abandoned. That said, this is a fine topic, and the ones that come to mind are the ones already mentioned (DJ Hero, Tony Hawk, Dead Space Extraction). The game I WISH had sold more: Henry Hatsworth is an amazing game, but I think it flopped. |

Are there any legit numbers for the PSPGo, not that and PSP together?

Tony Hawk Ride!
The NPD numbers for November show some pretty pathetic sales for Tony Hawk Ride. 114K - across all 3 platforms , 13K on Xbox No real big surprise. Everyone was expecting this thing to fail. It's a big ugly mess clogging up space on retailer's shelves. While there certainly was other games in 2009 that performed worse (Damnation anyone?), Tony Hawk was a high profile gimmick that crashed and burned. The problem is that there is no real target audience for this. If real life skateboarders want a realistic experience, they will go grab a real skateboard. Casual gamers want to just goof off on the couch, not stand up. It just amazes me that this project ever got approved and passed testing. |
Re: And the Biggest Bomb of 2009 is.....
This is so pathetic:
http://psp.ign.com/articles/105/1054350p1.html for example, the best-selling PSP game in November. It wasn't in the Top 10. It wasn't in the Top 100. LittleBigPlanet nabbed number 107 on the overall best-sellers list with a paltry 42,000 in sales. |

Joking aside, it's too bad that Sony's made such a clusterfuck of the PSP. If I had to choose between keeping my PSP or my PS3, I'd take the former. To me, it's well worth having both a DS and PSP, due to the diversity in their respective game libraries. My PS3 on the other hand, has only seen gaming action for Uncharted 2 and Ratchet & Clank this year. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how Sony responds to the failure of the PSP Go. I'm guessing they'll push ahead with it, thinking it'll eventually do the same kind of turnaround that we're starting to see with the PS3. If they go that route, I can see them failing badly enough to get out of handhelds altogether. |

Is that figure for real? There's no way it could be that low, could it? That's terrible.
It is a well done game and is a nice chapter in the Dead Space franchise. Any fan of Dead Space who owns a Wii should give it a try. It seems "adult" games for the Wii really suffer a swift and awful death. Maybe they could port this over to the Xbox and PS3 to get some sales on it. If you can do House of the Dead on those consoles, you could easily do Dead Space: Extraction. There is nothing in the game's controls that couldn't be made to work on a controller. |

Not really. LBP was highly overrated. Good, yes? The greatest thing since sliced bread like it was billed to be? Not even close.
Having said that, I downloaded the PSP demo the other day and played it. While I am still not a huge fan of the game itself, LBP seemed to played better on the PSP than the PS3. Not sure if it was the controls or what but it just seemed more enjoyable to me. Can't explain exactly why. Has anyone else thought that or is that kind of thinking considered sacrilege?

How long until we get a Sony rep saying that this is obvious proof of their digital distribution model working, given that downloads aren't included in NPD numbers? :D

I don't think I have went to highly interested to not caring at all for a game like I did for the LBP series. |

In my 3rd game, this asshole prick starts ragging on me because I am not a pro player. I received a barrage of some of the foulest hate fueled rhetoric. This was way beyond fun game trash talk. He also encouraged the other teamates to let me die and not revive me. He wanted to know where I lived so he could come kick my ass. lol When I mentioned Texas, the lamest "steers and queers" comment was applied. What an ignorant immature dolt. I called the guy a piece of $h*t and finally left. I couldn't enjoy the session especially if no one would revive me. Sadly, this experience is all too common. I've met some of the trashiest pieces of human crap on online games. A few months ago, Wombat, co-host of CAGcast, was a featured player on Xbox live. He received dozens of the most hate spewed angry replies. The replies were so awful that a Xbox rep was featured on the show to address the issue. I think it's a reflection of the dark nature in people which comes to fruition in a virtual environment that carries no consequences for their actions. I can imagine the same thing would occur in real life if anarchy ruled. [/spoiler] People are not....good. |
Re: And the Biggest Bomb of 2009 is.....
There are PLENTY of tools built into Live to not deal with those assholes, that's why bringing it up as an issue is more of a non-issue. If you choose to play a MP game with people other than friends then you are going to run into this.
The best is a GLOBAL Mute option that only allows you to hear people that are on your friend's list. It's been a feature for about 3 years now. You can also report people for their douchebaggery ways. It may not directly help you in the short term but if they get multiple reports, action will be taken in some fashion and that helps the community as a whole. Don't want to use the built in tools of Live? The simplest way to deal with these people is take your headset off. If you want to play a "Team" based game where communication is necessary, friend up DVDtalkers and some people on CAG. Only play those type games with people on your friends list. |

I see whiners constantly bitch about playing on Xbox Live but why they fail to take the easy steps to help themselves described above is beyond me. I think some people just like to cry. And for many, this is the only thing they can find fault in Xbox Live, so they try to use it to it fullest. |
