Pinball-RPG Rollers of the Realm hits PS4, Vita, PC this holiday
by Danny Cowan @db_cowan (4 hours ago) http://o.aolcdn.com/hss/storage/mida...lers-realm.jpg Atlus announced that it will bring Phantom Compass' fantasy-themed pinball epic Rollers of the Realm to the PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and PC platforms this winter. Taking cues from digital pinball classics like Dragon's Fury and Odama, Rollers of the Realm includes multiple tables that each feature unique enemy characters, objectives, and secrets. The game offers a number of playable characters that each bring their own special abilities into battle, resulting in altered ball physics and other gameplay tweaks. A beta version of Rollers of the Realm will be showcased at E3 this week. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

2 Steam achievements for a Deadpool table for Pinball FX2 were recently added, so it looks like that'll be the next table after The Walking Dead.

Ahh, so this table comes out next week. Guess that's why the achievements for this table are available, but not the Walking Dead ones.

Deadpool Is Getting His Own Pinball Table
Bobby Loertscher's Avatar + Posted by Bobby Loertscher on Jun 17, 2014 // Community Manager, Zen Studios After months of coercion, threats, and highly inappropriate late night texts (seriously, Wade, how can you really expect anyone to physically be able to do that with a duck!?), Zen Studios have agreed to create a virtual pinball table for the one and only Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool. Coming to Zen Pinball 2 NEXT WEEK, the table will offer exciting pinball action, true-to-the-character gameplay, and may actually afford the team at Zen some peace and quiet when it releases. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3838/...c1378953_z.jpg https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2901/...17ae038a_n.jpghttps://farm3.staticflickr.com/2904/...604172ba_n.jpg In all seriousness (well, some seriousness, at least), Zen Studios is extremely excited to be working with the fine folks at Marvel to bring Deadpool fans a pinball experience that is as true to the character as you can get. Featuring the supreme voice talents of the one and only Nolan North as Deadpool, this table will capture the acerbic, fourth wall-crushing attitude of the character, as well as other supporting characters from the Deadpool universe, including Blind Al, Weasel, Lil’ Deadpool, and more. Please humor the Merc with a Mouth by watching the trailer below, will ya? Deadpool’s pinball debut will feature a dynamic table that will switch at his whim, quick-time events, a “Blind Mode” courtesy of Blind Al in which only the ball, flippers and target lanes are visible, and even a mode where the player can help Deadpool take down some of his most nefarious enemies: raging comic book fans! Deadpool will be coming to Zen Pinball 2 next week (June 24th), so dust off your dancing shoes and synchronize your watches, because it’s about to go down! |

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Steam sale is live. All the Pinball FX2 tables are 50% off. In the past, they've had some tables at 75% off; no idea whether that may happen this time around.
For the first time that I can tell, the Pinball Arcade packs are on sale. Season 1 is 25% off and Season 2 is 10%. Not really that enticing. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Finally picked up a PS4 last week. I'm loving the Zen tables on there. I downloaded the Pinball Arcade with the intent of buying the season 1 tables, but before I did that I decided to play a few games of totan, it plays wonderfully, the plunger seems a little off, and it looks insanely nice. What the hell is going on with the sound in it though, it sounds awful, I'll probably wait until they do something about the sound on there and keep buying PS3/Vita versions instead until then.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
i am very intrigued by the Deadpool table. I have been playing on my iPhone. I like the free table "Sorcerer's Lair and I purchased the Captain America table last week and I am pleased with it.
I also found out....I really suck at pinball  It is fun though. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Pinball Arcade is offering the Launch Pack for $.01. This includes Ripley's Believe it or Not, Theatre of Magic, and Black Hole.
To purchase, launch the game, pick Season One, then select any of the three tables and click buy. There should be an option to buy the Launch Pack. Doing so should bring up the Steam authorization window. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
what are your favorite zen marvel tables? I currently have Captain America and Blade -- which are alot of fun.

Sorcerer's Lair is probably my favorite non-licensed table. It's creepy, fun and a good score racker. On the Marvel tables, my two faves are probably Captain America and then the Avengers table. The Avengers table itself is just so complex that it takes a while to figure everything out. I also like the Infinity Gauntlet table quite a bit(but I suspect many can't stand it) because the table is so different from almost every other table out there. I did download the Deadpool table, and while I like it...I am not in love with it (and this comes from a guy who absolutely adores Deadpool from comic books to t-shirts to the 360 game which is amazing.) Deadpool's animations are fun, but its pretty hard to score on. I haven't even broke 2 million in about 10 playthroughs. I still need to get Dr. Strange and Civil War. |

I also play Pinball Arcade which is really cool because you are playing on exact replicas of the most famous pinball machines out there. Very neat |

That's a pleasant surprise, since 3 of the tables I love weren't originally brought over (Thor, Captain America, and Fantastic Four). With these, is Ninja Gaiden the only PS3/Vita still missing?

New Tables Coming to Pinball Arcade on PS4, PS3, PS Vita + Posted by Mike Lindsey on Jul 11, 2014 // Community Manager, FarSight Studios Hey Pinball fans! I’m Mike Lindsey, Community Manager at FarSight Studios. I’m originally from the Big Bear area where we recreate all these amazing tables. It’s awesome to have the opportunity to do what I love (talk to people and make friends), live in the mountains where I feel most at home, and work on a game that is preserving something as cool as real pinball for all of it’s fans out there. Enough about me, though! We know you guys have been waiting for more pinball tables in Pinball Arcade on PS4, PS3, and PS Vita. Today, we’re proud to announce that Black Knight 2000, WHO Dunnit, High Speed, and Junk Yard will be available on July 15th for PS3 and PS Vita, and then on July 22nd for PS4. This launch will be retrofitting your system with 80′s and 90′s tables packed with action, suspense, and comedy. These four tables brought tons of excitement to so many when arcades were running at full steam across America. FarSight studios is determined to bring back some of that long lost enjoyment. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5564/...cbb866f8_z.jpg Black Knight 2000 (1989): The Black Knight rides again in this brilliant sequel to the Steve Ritchie hit from 1980. Players take on the role of good versus evil as they battle the Black Knight in high velocity gameplay. The game is all about speed and quick reactions, highlighted by features such as an upper and lower level, repeating U-Turn and Skyway Loop shots rewarding accurate shooters, and a Drawbridge that lowers to reveal a ramp. The patented Magna-Save feature from the original game is back. This allows players to activate a ball-saving magnet preventing balls from draining. Great scores are achieved by collecting Lightning Wheel Awards, scoring Hurry-Up bonuses and playing the three awesome Multi-Ball rounds, including The King’s Ransom Wizard mode. 5,703 units of this table were produced. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3885/...a5276786_z.jpg WHO dunnit (1995): Designed by Dwight Sullivan and Barry Oursler, this table combines the thrill of gambling with an intriguing murder mystery. Players take on the role of ace investigator Nick Spade as they collect clues, interrogate suspects, and catch killers. The playfield features a functioning slot machine and a unique scoop ramp, which feeds three separate habitrails to lower, raise, and exit the casino elevator. A mysterious murder. One victim. Twenty possible scenarios. Who has the motive? Who has the skill? Everyone’s dying to know WHO dunnit. 2,416 of this table were produced. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3919/...46e14c19_z.jpg High Speed (1986): Designed by Steve Ritchie and inspired by his personal experience, this table puts players in the role of a driver who is not planning on stopping. Run the red light and suddenly sirens shriek, lights flash, an APB is issued, and the police chase is on! Flying over ramps and careening down freeways, the get-away is fast and furious! This was the first table to use Williams’ System 11 hardware, the first to play a complete song, and it was the first to have a Multi-Ball Jackpot that increased and carried over from game to game. 17,080 units of this table were produced. https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2910/...4638c72d_z.jpg Junk Yard (1996): Billed as “The Meanest Game in the Whole Darn Town.” Designed by Barry Oursler and Dwight Sullivan, this table challenges players to escape Crazy Bob’s Junk Yard. This is accomplished by collecting pieces of Junk to build various contraptions, going on wild Adventures and ultimately launching into Outer Space to take on Crazy Bob. The Playfield has many great features including the Great Toilet, the Magic Bus, mean old Spike the dog, and a moving Crane. It’s not hard to play in the yard. 3,013 units of this table were produced. And… One more bit of great news that a lot of you have been waiting for: we’ve agreed upon terms with all of the major licenses and clearances we need to recreate the Addams Family pinball table! We expect to launch the Kickstarter this summer, so get ready, fans. We’ll need your help. https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2938/...2ef7ac38_z.jpg |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
And speaking of Pinball Arcade's Kickstarter, I had contributed $10 to the T2 one. As a S2 owner, they assured us that we could get any single table for any system at any time in the future as our reward. When the first round of new tables hit the PS4 a couple of months back, I sent them a message via their KS page asking for Fish Tales for PS4. Someone immeditely replied "Sure, NA region or Europe?". I replied NA. Then nothing. For over two months. Despite numerous messages sent.
Earlier this week, I sent a message via FB to Far Sight. Tehy told me to email their CS for a response. Thankfully somebody quickly replied and appologized. I guess nobody was paying attention to the KS inbox (which is weird with this new KS campaign about to kick off). Anyway to apologize, they gave me both new S3 Pro Table codes -- Fish Tales and Black Rose. I thought that was pretty cool. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Reminder : Rest of the Zen Pinball tables (except Ninja Gaiden 2) coming to PS4 today. Free if you already bought them on PS3/Vita
Also : in the Facebook comments, the folks at Zen note that there will be Xbox One news "Very soon", so hopefully we'll get the same deal - free upgraded versions of the tables we already bought on the 360. We'll see soon enough. :fc: |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
The news I want most out of Zen? A unified, Zen-hosted leaderboard for each table.
Meaning my XBL, PSN, Steam, etc account attaches to a Zen account (a la U-Play, Rockstar, etc) and all my scores are synchronized as well as my friends lists to Zen friends. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
No import for Xbox One from the 360. Sounds like it's a Microsoft thing, not a Zen studios thing. Really shitty.
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
100% shitty. I'm continually baffled by Microsoft's ineptitude.
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
It's hard to get upset about it. It wasn't a thing when any of us bought in so it's not like we're losing anything. Granted, I would LOVE for my purchases to follow the same hardware family forward, but I'd be way happier if my software purchases were platform agnostic. I should get mad about that

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Oh it's completely predictable, I'm not upset. I just think a company in the number two position and not looking to catch up anytime soon would bend over backwards to retain as many customers as possible. I have all the Pinball FX 2 tables on 360. All of them. But going forward I'll most likely play new ones on PS4. Because they have a clue.
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
That's exactly why I switched to Steam and have every table there as well. It's also why I wish my 360 scores and friends' leaderboard would be ported to across the entire Zen player-base :)
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
The reason I say it's shitty is because a precedent seemed to have been set on the PS4, then with the minecraft support MSFT is doing too, then to not grant us this freebie is a bummer.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
I read somewhere that Dance Central is letting you transfer your songs to the new Dance Central. Why can't they do the same for Pinball FX 2.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
I'm guessing Guardians of the Galaxy will be announced at Comic-Con during the Marvel games panel tomorrow, and probably will be available next week, Because PS3, Vita and PS4 Zen Pinball 2 got an update last night and here are the update notes from the PS4.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Steam achievements for GotG have been added, as well.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Do most folks here like both Zen and Arcade?
I ask because there's something about the physics in Zen that I just hate. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
I like both. Yes, the physics is a little different, but since Zen tables are not reality based, it never bothered me much. Their triple cross buy policy is awesome and I love having a huge library of Vita tables to play
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
I can't define exactly what it is about the Zen tables that bugs me. Something about the physics and maybe the sound effects that gives it a lack of perceived weight.
I wish I liked them more, because their business model is great and they have a ton of tables. :( But I love Arcade. The first time they have a PS+ sale, I'm throwing some money their way. |

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Well, I tried the trial versions of those four new TPA tables today on the PS4. Only Who Dunnit? is remotely appealing to me. It's really amazing the gigantic leap in pinball technology from 1986 with tables that just had bumpers and lights and LED score displays to about 1992 with all sorts of features, animations, sounds and voices and advanced goals. It's kind of unbelievable -- even more so when you consider that the Pinball table would be all but dead eight years later.
In the past, I've just bought everything TPA offered, but between screwing me over on an upgrade after buying the entire S2 on the PS3, the 50% decrease in table number in S3 and the large number of lackluster and older tables offered for S3, I'm just going to pick & choose from now on. I liked the first two S3 tables (Gone Fishing, Black Rose) an awful lot though. The rest of the Zen tables (excluding Ninja Gaiden 2) are available now on PS4. I tried Mars for the first time in ages. It confirmed what I had previously thought -- that table is at the same time way too busy and nearly completely uninteresting. They've come a long way in table design since then. |
