Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Wasn't Medieval Madness on Williams HoF disc? These generic titles all blend together after a while.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
I bought Pinball Arcade and played it just for a few minutes on both systems. Not too impressive, but I like that I can play it on both at least and the tables are authentic. The Ripley's one is cool. It doesn't look good on the Vita -- comparable with previous iPad pinball games, but certainly no better. I think the tables are (by their original appearance) too busy to really keep track of goals and what's going on when played on the Vita screen. Apparently, you can play in portrait mode on the Vita, but I've yet to figure out how.
BTW : Is there a way to save the ball after you lose it in the lower table in Black Hole? It always shoots right down the side gutter after that for me. |

You just turn the Vita and it senses that you placed it in portrait mode and changes to that mode. I looked all over through settings to look for it and I finally just tried that on the table select screen and it worked. Very nice looking in that mode but you have to use the touch screen for the flippers. Not a dealbreaker, it's like playing the iPhone/iPad version, but I like resting my fingers on a physical button instead of hovering over the screen ready to press.

We are very excited to announce that the next two Pinball Arcade downloadable tables will be Cirqus Voltaire and Funhouse! |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Yet another repeat Williams table? Seriously, there are three other pinball manufacturers they have licenses with; why can't we get one set without a repeat?
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Yeah, these repeats are getting very annoying. I'm enjoying Pinball Arcade, but it definitely could use some improvement. The table selection screen is going to need a complete overhaul soon. Also the graphics aren't very good, the assets are very low resolution.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Well I'm sure it's easier to put out one new table and one rehash each time, instead of two brand new ones. This company can't have more than a couple employees left at this point. They can't even bother to update their own webpage.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
As disappointed as I am about the repeasts (and I sort of hated Funhouse, iirc), I might still drop $5 on that DLC bundle based on the cheesy Eighties awesomeness of this trailer for the real-world Cirqus Voltaire table:

Funhouse, along with Whirlwind, were two of the tables I probably played the most in the late 80's/early 90's. I never get tired of either of them. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
On the Xbox compilation. It's been a while, but I remember it being pretty frustrating to trigger your goals. It really wasn't that bad a table, but I wanted something new to video pinball this time.
Not that it really matters either way -- once Zen Pinball gets updated and and all my PS3 tables come to the Vita, I doubt I'll have much interest in the Pinball Arcade DLC anyway. Speaking of which : The Avengers comes out a week from Friday. Shouldn't we be getting our Avengers tables next week? |

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
From http://www.gameinformer.com/b/featur...all-table.aspx
At the beginning of every ball, players will pick between controlling an Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, or Black Widow ball. The hero-themed makeovers help highlight the impressive underlying physics of the series (I never realized how much balls spin on previous tables without a point of reference). But they're also more than simple paintjobs. Each hero provides unique gameplay bonuses that will aid you in beating your friends' high scores. For example, the Captain America ball grants players extended ball saves and combo opportunities, while Hawkeye increases the value of skill shots and lights kickbacks quicker than other balls. Every ball will also unlock its own game mode faster, and scores x4 points for hitting its corresponding lane. This simple mechanic adds a new wrinkle of strategy to the table, and ties in nicely with the concept of the Avengers comic. |

And information about Pinata's balls. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Looks a little close to the play style of Iron Man, which frightens me.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Here's a shot of the menues for the upcoming Zen Pninball 2. Nothing too earth-shattering here, but it's nice that it confirms all the Marvel tables are considered Zen Pinball DLC rather than being kept under a seperate umbrella like they are now.

Big update posted on The Pinball Arcade's Facebook page:
Spoiler:
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Word is that Microsoft rejected the DLC and they have to resubmit. So we're looking at mid-June for the first DLC on 360.
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
I'm confused : Why would they reject the DLC? Assuming it doesn't break the game, and that the price is a well-established amount (200-240 points per DLC table), and that the content is inoffensive, what could be their issue?
