Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
About bloody time we got a new set of tables. I'm a little smarting still from them being given away on PS Plus last month, but not enough to wait on these. That Return of the Jedi table looks cool

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Sweet, they finally announced the worst kept secret in Stern Pinball history.
Nope, not buying it. I heard the price will be ~$7800 from distributors for the LE. Fuck that. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Some random thoughts after watching that video...
Holy shit, the return of the kickback! It's about damn time. Those asteroid plastics look pretty cool, but why does the Enterprise look so shitty (edit: Oh, it's not the enterprise, it's Peter Weller's ship)? I'm pretty shocked that this isn't going to be their first LCD screen title, seemed like it would of been a perfect fit. I will say, that I'm jealous that Star Trek gets much cooler side rails and the speaker cover, compared to Metallica LE. Layout wise it looks like a copy of Spider-man and Star Trek Next Generation. The artwork is a huge step back after the hand drawn awesomeness that is Metallica, it just looks hideous. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Movie spoilers in the pinball trailer on the very day the DVD comes out!

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Just played some The Champions Pub from Pinball Arcade pack 15. I don't know the real table's rep, but I thought it was fantastic. What a cool and original concept. I love the fights. I need to play it a lot more ( and never even got to Whirlwind), but after a few underwhelming new table packs, I'm really happy with this one.
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
FYI, new table pack is out on PS3. It has Flight 2000 and Goin' Nuts.
For those who don't know (I sure didn't) Goin' Nuts is a 1983 game that was never released, only 10 engineering samples were made. This table is, quite litterally, nuts! You get 3 ball multiball for each "ball" and are on a timer. There are no outlanes, just the drain in the middle. I really like it so far and hope to get some more time with it tonight. What's everyone's opinion on Goin' Nuts? |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
I've played it quite a bit on iOS. It's... interesting. Certainly different for a pinball table.
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Steam PFX2 66% sale going on. Packs for $3.39 and single tables for $1.01 each. Only the newest tables (Earth Defense Force and Ms. Splosion Man) aren't on sale.

As a fan of dogfights in the Star Wars universe, I'm most excited for this one in concept, but it's kind of an ugly table.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
The Balance of the Force tables will be available on PSN in North America on October 15th and on XBLA, Steam, Windows 8, iOS, Google Play, Kindle and PSN in Europe on October 16th. Wii U and Mac App store will come after, we will post details as soon as we have confirmed those release dates.

Has Zen/Pinball FX said anything about their platform being on the next gen consoles?

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Just that it will be AFAIK.

In case you've (understandably) forgotten that Marvel Pinball is still a thing:
<iframe width="640" height="480" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/vdEMGRYoBDg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> From NYCC: Dr. Strange Pinball Table Coming December 2013 Posted on October 12, 2013 http://blog.zenstudios.com/wp-conten...table_logo.png The greatest powers of the occult, both from our own world and the darkest dimensions in existence, are combining their forces to take over Earth. And only one man can stop them – Doctor Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme! With the help of the beautiful Clea and his faithful servant Wong, the Master of the Mystic Arts faces his greatest challenge ever in Doctor Strange pinball, the newest addition to the Marvel Pinball library. http://blog.zenstudios.com/wp-conten...Playfield1.jpg Strange’s rival sorcerer Baron Mordo has called upon the demonic forces of the Dread Dormammu and the Fear Lord, Nightmare, all part of his plot to assume the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme for himself. Meanwhile, Shuma-Gorath, the Lord of Chaos, resides in the background with nefarious plans of his own… http://blog.zenstudios.com/wp-conten..._Dormammu1.png Numerous voice over lines and situations were adapted from 50 years of Doctor Strange comic books for this table, including the classic first two issues of DOCTOR STRANGE, SORCERER SUPREME (1988), wherein Dormammu threatened our dimension by overtaking Strange in his own body. Only with carefully cast spells (i.e., deadeye shots from you, the player) does Strange hope to stand a chance against inconceivable odds. http://blog.zenstudios.com/wp-conten...ge_Astral1.png Doctor Strange will be available for download in December 2013 on a variety of platforms including Xbox LIVE® Arcade, Steam, PlaySation®Network, iOS, Google Play, Windows 8, OSX, Kindle Fire and the Wii U eShop. Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
On the PS3, the previous release covered both the standalone as well as Zen Pinball 2? add-on content under the 1 purchase correct? Vita and PS3 versions.
Does it matter (in that regard) which version of this new one we get? |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Nope. One purchase yields eight items in your download queue : Balance of the Force demo and unlock keys for both Zen Pinball 2 and Star Wars Pinball, both the PS3 and the Vita versions

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
I went over to my patient's house where the dad owns a bunch of pins yesterday. Along with a couple of new purchases like recent TPA additions White Water and Champion's Pub (both great tables, BTW) was his new Limited Edition The Wizard of Oz machine that just arrived from Jersey Jack Pinball. OMG that table is absolutely beautiful. The extensive use of LED lights make it glow super-bright and in every color. The video screen on the display is wide and sharp. The ruby flippers are cool. There's a tiny screen in the "crystal ball" so you can see images in it while you play. So many cool mechanical features on the table with the different missions The LE has all these emerald green accents, is signed by the entire team and has an individual number /1000. It's absolutely gorgeous. What a masterpiece of a table.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Yeah, but too bad it's Wizard of Oz. I think you are the first guy I've seen say that the ruby slippers are "cool", haha. I am looking forward to The Hobbit though, although the thought of dropping $8,000 on a toy is crazy.
Oh, and in related news, The Pinball Arcade is finally coming to Steam, November 1st. |

You should FLIP (get it?) out for this Humble Bundle! https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly

About damn time. I've been waiting for this to show up ever since the listing showed up in the SteamDB.
I only gave $1 to Farsight, I figure I've bought their damn tables enough times already. |

IGN 9.0 review of The Pinball Arcade for PC & PS4.
Sounds like it looks amazing on the PS4. Still no word on how much it'll be costing me to upgrade my previous purchases. |

December. We will see about that.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Zen Pinball 2 is coming to PS4 on Dec 17th! All^ previously purchased tables are going to be a free download. Now THAT'S how it's done!
And in the comments of their Facebook post, the guy from Zen Studios said it's also coming to Xbox One, but the date isn't confirmed yet. Hell. Yes. ^From this list Here’s the table lineup for Zen Pinball 2 on PS4: Star Wars Pinball Star Wars Pinball: Balance of the Force Marvel Pinball Marvel Pinball:Avengers Chronicles Marvel’s Doctor Strange Plants vs. Zombies Pinball Epic Quest Paranormal Earth Defense |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Played some PS4 Pinball Arcade demo at Best Buy today. OMG, it looks AMAZING, much better than the PS3 version. Such fine detail. You can see the concave reflection of the table details in the ball. It really looks great. I encourage everyone to swing by a Best Buy and just check out the demo.
And yeah, delighted ZP2 will be free for me on the PS4. Hope TPA comes in cheap; they still haven't announced pricing AFAIK. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Good Pinball Arcade News : They're moving forward with Season 3 tables. Here's the first - Fish Tales:
Spoiler:
Bad Pinball Arcade News : Season 3 will be only one table per release. Season pass for ten releases will be $29.99, so that means at least $3 per table, but probably more like $4. Less value per table. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Ugh, well, they better be good tables instead of the Gottlieb trash like the last few packs. Fish Tales is a good start at least. So only one table per month now?
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
They just announced that Pinball Arcade for the PS4 will be on PSN this Tuesday, Dec 17. There is also a PS4 disc version currently available at Amazon for $39.99 which includes all the Season One tables.
They still haven't announced the pricing on PSN, but have said previously there will be some sort of a discount for owners of the tables on PS3/Vita. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
We finally get confirmation of a Pinball Arcade PS4 discount :
Pinball Arcade Out Tomorrow on PS4 + Posted by Bobby King // Lead Designer, FarSight Studios http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7337/1...cba505f9_z.jpg The holidays are here, and we’re happy to be launching Pinball Arcade on PS4 tomorrow! We’ve been working hard all year on remastering and relighting the classic pinball tables in our game to take advantage of the PS4′s power. And you’re getting a table on PS4 for free. That table happens to be one of the best pinballs of all time, Tales of the Arabian Nights, which was designed and manufactured by Williams in 1996. We can’t wait for people to try it who may never have tried pinball before. Pinball is a much deeper game than some people think. Out Tomorrow The digital version goes live this week in North America. The blu-ray is also getting delivered to a few retailers this week — a great stocking stuffer for anyone who likes pinball (hint hint). We’re launching with all of our Season One content available. That’s more than 20 tables worthy of first ballot Pinball Hall of Fame inductions. In fact, nine of the top fourteen ever, according to pinside.com are available from day one on PS4. We’re humbled to get to recreate these masterpieces for all of the real pinball fans out there. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3814/1...a8f831b8_n.jpghttp://farm3.staticflickr.com/2886/1...8a308264_n.jpg Lighting Tech Since we started re-creating pinball tables digitally, a decade or so ago, we’ve wanted to implement point lights — the illumination of light from specific points. Pinball tables are a great way to show off this technology. Some tables have more than 100 points of light that have been designed to flash on and off during the different modes and features of the table. I’ll always remember the PS4 for being the platform that we developed this on first. Also adding to the eye candy is the amount of real-time environment map reflections we can add. Pinball tables are made up of lot of plastic and metal parts. Lots of chrome, combined with lots of colored lights going on and off makes for a beautiful light show! Improvements Since we first released the Season One tables on PS3 and PS Vita, we’ve been making fixes and improvements to our engine and each table. These fixes will soon be released for those platforms in a big patch that should be out in January. The PS4 version will get this updated gameplay on day one. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5504/1...3ba5230f_z.jpg Discounts We want to give players who own the PS3 and PS Vita content a discount on PS4. There have been some technical hurdles, but we’ve been able to work with PlayStation to implement a loyalty discount on PlayStation Store for the Season One Table Packs. Players who own all of the Season One tables can buy either of the Season One Packs for half price! We’re also giving 10% off of these Season Packs to PS Plus members for the next two weeks. Happy holidays to all of you guys from everyone at FarSight! |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
The company releasing the PS4 disc version of Pinball Arcade looks totally legit, you guys. http://www.alliancedigitalmedia.com/
