You'll need to level up a lot more or look for the glitch to beat that one.

Re: Borderlands
there is a base level on you.will.die. but i don't know that 45 is at that. it might be in the 50's. but yes, the name is correct
|
Re: Borderlands
I'll look up the glitch and see if it's possible with just the two of us at that level. I don't think we are up for going through some of those side missions just to level up. So we might end up skipping that one.
Anyone know about the Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot question? |

Two quick questions though.
There were some extra waves that opened up for Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot after we finished the first 4 or so, but I didn't see the options pop up for them on the missions menu and it didn't look like there were achievements for them either. Are the extra waves just for fun or do you get anything for completing them? Last, there is a mission called You Will Die, or something like that, that seemed next to impossible when we tried it out. Died a ton in the first couple mins and were losing money like crazy. Is there a reasonable way to beat this mission and is it worth it? What do you get from it? There are no achievments in Moxxie's Dome...which was a big let-down when it came out Oh yea....and yes, YOU WILL DIE. Especially at anything below Level 55 and even that's pushing it. "The Craw'...that be Crawerax...is the bomb literally. Goggle & Bing are you friends. Worth it....it's the ultimate "Goodie Drop" of the game |
Re: Borderlands
Moxxie's Underdome does have achievements -- 5 of them. Looks like mattysemo247 only completed the "Prove Yourself" mission, which is basically just an intro to the Underdome (even though the length might make you think otherwise). After that's done, a larger challenge should open up for all 3 arenas, each of which is 4 times longer than Prove Yourself. Oh, and you have to complete them all with the same character.
Just doing the research on this brings back terrible memories. |
Re: Borderlands
Moxxie's Underdome was the worst think about Borderlands and it is not even close.

But the gameplay in the dome was so terrible. |

Just doing the research on this brings back terrible memories. I stand corrected...I was thinking of the XP/Points which don't count. But Moxxie had another good benefit...The Bank. I found it invaluable since I was playing all four characters. Besides having a "normal account" for each character I also had a "clone account" via dummy controller. If I ran into those orbs, shields or certain guns made for the other characters I'd just put in the bank and then swap it late on. Also a good place to swap with other players or clone weapons. |
Re: Borderlands
Moxxie also gives you the chance at 2 more skill points.

Re: Borderlands
Guess I don't understand all the hate for the Underdome. What we've played so far wasn't that hard and didn't take up too much time. Just like any other type of horde mode in games nowadays. Do the later rounds get that much worse?

Come back after you finish one or two of the larger challenges. :D |
Re: Borderlands
The modifiers make the later rounds a lot worse, and there's the added pleasure of being thrown back to the beginning of an entire earlier round if you die.
I think my biggest beef was no XP gain, and (if I remember correctly) no decent loot. There was a serious lack of rewarding going on for the amount of time and effort invested. The bank was a good addition, but in all honesty it just enabled me to horde more loot that I mostly never used. It filled up quickly too, just like my regular inventory had previously done. |

That was the worst part of. It would be like in Gears Horde reaching Wave 45, dying and then start at Wave 1 all over I think my biggest beef was no XP gain, and (if I remember correctly) no decent loot. There was a serious lack of rewarding going on for the amount of time and effort invested. Correct...which is what I meant to say at first. Basically playing with ziltch, zada, nada rewards except for two or so achievments. The bank was a good addition, but in all honesty it just enabled me to horde more loot that I mostly never used. It filled up quickly too, just like my regular inventory had previously done For the person playing just one character...you're right. But having played all four it helped a lot. I staggered mine with each being anywhere from 5-10 Levels below another. Siren might be Level 55, "Bird Man" be at 47, Soldier at 38 and "Brusier" at 24 . I'd just move the goodies down to the next character or anything I found meant for that particular character. But there is a lot I haven't touched as well. |

Each of the 3 "intro" levels are about an hour each (and like you said, not bad) but the large challenges are 3 hours minimum each. That's a solid 12-15 hours, for all 6 challenges, assuming you don't fail any of them.
Come back after you finish one or two of the larger challenges. :D |
Re: Borderlands
So i finished Claptrap dlc and thought it was the worse of all the dlc's i've played. Aside from a few funny lines from Clap, i was bored through most of it. Especially the quests where you were collecting clap trap parts for that chick. I was expecting a nice weapon reward but got jack shit from her
Now i'm on General Knox and liking that a lot more so far. The only issue i have with it is the travel system sucks. No matter where you die, when you go back to your game they stick you at the beginning area. I know this is for all the other DLC's but in here it's annoying when some quests require a lot of traveling just to get back to your quest area. |
Re: Borderlands
What are some good Mordecai and Lilith builds? Pistols/birds for Mord? Not sure on Lilith. Thanks
|
Re: Borderlands
At what level or whereabouts in the game do the hellfire smgs drop?
Also should i wait to complete the game before tackling the Knoxx and Zombie DLC's or should I go there before I complete Playthrough 1? |
Re: Borderlands
IMHO, I thought the ending of the game was easier than the DLCs. Expect to travel a lot during the Knoxx content.
PM sent. |

i LOVED Mord with Pistols. |

i preferred pistols for Mord. SMG for lilith. class mods lead you in the right direction, though there were new ones that came with clap trap.
i LOVED Mord with Pistols. Second that...A Malware Fire SMG in Liliths hands with SMG mod on is just devestating. Mord might be looked at for the sniper but his pistol mods and the right pistol make him as tough as Lilith with her SMG's |

Matty never came back. :)
And the arena in the Knoxx DLC was way harder, but we did that with two people, not four, so maybe my memory is skewed. |
Re: Borderlands
haha, haven't really played much Borderlands since we finished it. We were both a little burned out on it from playing it so much over a short period of time. We will go back and finish the Underdome, mark my words :)
And a big thanks to vballboy51 for hooking me up with some weapons. Now I just need to gain another 8-10 levels so I can use them  |
Re: Borderlands
After reading about the game breaking bugs in the patch for BL2 i decided to take a break and go back to BL1 for a second playthrough. I wanted a different kind of challenge this time though. So i started a no guns run. Only killing with melee and since i went with Mordecai using bloodwing for all my kills. It's quite a different way to play. Right now i'm just selling all the guns i see and stock up on health meds. Hopefully i can get a good shield soon.

Re: Borderlands
Anyone still play this on Xbox and willing to dupe me some guns?
I want to finish this before I move on to BL2. I'm playing as Lilith and think I am around level 20. I'm looking for any decent SMGs though I really would like a Hellfire to run with that type of build. That's the one thing that irks me about this game; the drops are too random. LOL. Thanks in advance. |
