Re: Borderlands
Anyone like me just start playing? I skipped it when it came out initially, but picked it up in late January. I'm level 10 or 11 Soldier if anyone wants to play co-op. I've also pre-ordered the Borderlands add-on disc that comes out next week.

Re: Borderlands
I have a really low level Berserker and i haven't played a Soldier at all so i would be happy to start over sometime.
|
Re: Borderlands
I still haven't maxed my Siren, but I've been wanting to try a Hunter. Shoot me an invite if you see me on.

Re: Borderlands
I would assume the DLC disc actually installs the DLC to the hard drive (like the GOTY editions of ME1 and FO3). If so, then one could share and/or resell the disc to recoup costs. There won't be disc swapping.

Re: Borderlands
^ What pinata said, plus I get a discount at work on the game. :)

Re: Borderlands
I'm on playthrough 2, and today, I found this:

Re: Borderlands
ya, hellfires are my favorite weapons
|
Re: Borderlands
It's pretty ridiculous, because I have my "accuracy with all weapons" fully perked, and I've been focusing on SMGs the entire game, so I'm up to level 23 or so on SMGs.
If I get a dude in my scope at ANY distance with the Hellfire, he's just a fountain of 3 digit numbers. |
Re: Borderlands
Michael and Pinata it was fun with the limited amount of time I played with you. I will work on leveling up my character more so I may actually be able to contribute and not just sponge xp.
|
Re: Borderlands
It's all good. I'm up to 49 now. 1 level to go, so I know what I'm doing at lunch. :D
I finished Zombie island last night. Very fun but playing in the dark (in game) the whole time got kind of old. I missed the bright desert feel of the game. |
Re: Borderlands
I'm at 49 too, but I haven't started Dr. Ned yet. I'm waiting for Chew to level up, so we can co-op it. If any other PS3 players want in, let me know.
A few tips that you've probably all figured out on your own: I've figured out that areas are level-capped (both enemies and drops) at whatever level you are when you first get there (sort of like Fallout 3). So if you are trying to get the best weapons, the XP from the side missions is critical. You want to be at the max level when you hit New Haven and Old Haven especially. If you maximize your XP, you should hit level 45 right about the time you get to New Haven in your second run. That's when you go farming. Also, if you are weapons farming (running through New Haven or The Descent over and over), it helps quite a bit to have a split-screen second player (even a dummy one)...just make sure that the higher ranked character is the host. I got the Fearsome Volcano and Hellfire SMG on my first and third runs respectively when I did New Haven with 2 players. Finally, it's pretty easy to duplicate weapons in an online game. Just drop in to a hosted game, drop your weapons for the host and back out through the XMB (without saving). When you go back into the hosted game, the weapons will still be there. This works on both consoles. |
Re: Borderlands
Yeah, I started a dummy player on my Silver account last week to play co-op with. (I'm maybe halfway through playthrough 2)
Benefits: - better weapon drops - more difficult enemies = more XP - warping i.e. the dummy co-op player is always at the beginning of the map, so you can run through an area doing missions and when you are done pick up controller 2 who is still right by the exit and warp warp out without having to traverse back across the map. - Class Mods - I managed to level up my dummy character (Soldier) rather quickly(at lvl. 39 right now) since I'm on Playthrough 2, enough so that I have a +22% EXP Team Mod. Plus on my main character I can now use team Mods as well, so one I have is a +41% Team Shield. I think right now my max shield with the Mod is around 2500. - In a rare occurrence, I took my dummy soldier down to fight Dr. Ned #2 on Zombie Island, just dropped a turret and let Ned Kill him. Well this fucked up the AI...BIG TIME. My Dummy respawned back a ways on the map and Ned was permanently focused on him. I was free to run around and do whatever the hell I wanted to Ned. I didn't take a single hit from Ned. Cons - Difficulty: sure more difficult enemies = more EXP, but sometimes you hit an area that will just kick your ass. I've ended up spending millions respawning in certain areas. - you only get to play on half the screen, even with a big screen it kinda sucks. |
Re: Borderlands
I ran into a weird bug over the weekend, it happened 3 times. After losing and having to "fight for my life", the camera will do a continual and fast 360 degree rotation. And forget about Second Wind, you can't change camera direction in any way.
(36 page thread, I didn't search to see if this happened to anyone else) |
Re: Borderlands
it drives me crazy not knowing what the release date of Knoxx is.

I didn't mind split-screen for farming a couple of guns, but I wouldn't play the whole game that way. Still...very creative and clever. You had to use a separate Live account to do it? Odd. |
Re: Borderlands
 Well, it's not the whole game. Just playthrough 2 so far, but it seems to be worth it. For whatever reason as player 2, you can't select any of player 1's characters, so yeah, you have to start a character on the Silver account.
How's this for hardcore? Now with this dummy character at lvl. 40 on my Silver account, I could go through the actual game with that one and make a new Character Class on my Gold Account as the secondary character and boost them all the way to 50 as well. Sure you could simply play through the game again, but this way you have a lvl. 40+ character at the beginning of playthrough 1 just plowing through the missions. My Silver Account character has about 300 in Borderlands achievement points. lol Oh, another con is that you get no date stamp on your achievments, just "Acquired" since it's all offline. |
Re: Borderlands
 General Knoxx tomorrow!!!
http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/22155/...rice-Revealed/ TeamXbox has exclusively learned that, later this afternoon, 2K Games will announce the release date and pricing for its upcoming downloadable content pack for hit RPG/shooter, Borderlands—and Xbox 360 owners will get a headstart on everyone else. The Secret Armory of General Knoxx will be released for Xbox 360 tomorrow, February 23, for 800 Microsoft Points (or about $10). The expansion will subsequently release for PC and PS3 on Thursday, February 25 for $9.99. |
Re: Borderlands
Sweet!
|
Re: Borderlands
Crap...now I feel compelled to finish Zombie Island...or maybe we should just do Knoxx first to increase the level cap...hmmmm.
|
Re: Borderlands
wow tomorrow. rock on.
|
Re: Borderlands
 thanks for the info - this has yet to hit other gaming sites.
|
Re: Borderlands
I guess that's what they meant by "soon".
Suddenly a big fan of Gearbox. Never saw that one coming. |
Re: Borderlands
Zombie Island was a full-on gig, wasn't it? I wonder how big this one'll be. Also, I wonder when Borderlands DLC will eclipse Rock Band DLC on my hard drive...
|
Re: Borderlands
Now this looks like good deal for $10, unlike the Mad Moxie thing.
So I guess 2 out of three ain't bad. |
