Re: Borderlands

 I've never used those team mods because I always play alone.

Scott, you shouldn't worry too much about playing the game the "right" way. I'm sure I've done everything the wrong way, and I have had a lot of fun playing the game, second playthrough, Hunter Level 55 or so. And I've played alone.

Sometimes I pick up something from the forums, but most of the time is just me playing with the different weapons and finding what I like more.

Don't listen to that shut-in Raul. He doesn't play alone because he prefers it. No one wants to play with him.

If you aren't playing with full team with each class represented, you're doing it wrong and will likely break your xbox.

you do need to play online more, but i think the xbox just breaks to break. i'm about to send in number 5! glad i got the elite to eliminate the problem

I played the entirety of Borderlands solo and loved it. Multiplayer schmultiplayer - I prefer the Fallout/Lone Wanderer vibe. My Xbox did not break as a result. However, it did get some passive-aggressive revenge by eating all the data on my USB drive.

It's fun to play with others, especially when they show you their guns to brag you grab them and quit.

that's good to know because i wasn't even upping my skill points for the turret to the slots that said "team".

but, don't get me wrong, i am loving this game and play in longer spurts than any other game, almost ever. Dead Space is now a distant memory.

one mission, leads into 2, leads into...and then cash them in, get more and the cycle keeps going and going...needlesstosay, very hard to shut off and continue with the real world.

If you do PC gaming at all you ought to check out Diablo II sometime. Borderlands copied the best parts of Diablo and added it to a shooter.

Re: Borderlands

One more minor complaint about the Knoxx DLC specifically:
I am sick of the Turnpike. It needs fast travel.

I have a level 20 something single player character, but most of my play is local co-op. I think it's a perfectly fine singleplayer game, but MP definitely adds to the experience.

starman9000 05-11-10 06:51 PM

Re: Borderlands

Yeah, no fast travel there and Zombie Island suck. Even a smaller nitpick would be I wish that you could scroll up in the New-U station menu, it takes like 1/2 minute to get to T-Bone station in the first place. :)

Re: Borderlands

Well I got all my charactrs up to 61 now...using the "Craw" method mostly from level 52 and going up. Now I've just got to go out and actually use the cool weapons for a test drive and work on the weapon profenceny. I've got a bunch of of stuff to clean out...elemental artifacts, mods and such so if anyone is looking for ones for certain characters let me know...may have it.

Re: Borderlands

I'm pretty much at the end of the game (including Zombie island), pre-Knoxx and I'm only at level 34 - I've done every side mission I could find too, but man, I don't want to start a new game.

Raul3 05-13-10 10:00 AM

Re: Borderlands

In the second playthrough everything gives you more EXP. I also thought it was going to be boring to start a second playthrough but it was actually more fun than the first one.

thats about right. you won't get too high in the first playthrough. to cap, you have to get into playthrough 2.

Re: Borderlands

I guess I'll do the 2nd playthrough then, and I'll just hit the highlight and won't bother with the fetch-quests. I might even get the Moxie DLC.

Re: Borderlands

if you have knoxx, i'd recommend basically "storming through" the main story line. just do what you need to, at least initially. the guys near the end get up to level 48 or so, so you don't even NEED to max to beat it. as far as Moxxie, it doesn't give XP, so don't use that to level up. in fact, aside from the bank, its really just Horde mode and the achievements tease you because its 10+ hours to beat the horde part. 3+ hours at a time

+2 skill points.

Re: Borderlands

Pass on Moxie then. And yeah, it definitely seems like you level up quicker later, like I think it took about half the time to go from 15 to 30 than it did to go from 1 to 15.

On the flipside I think it took longer to go from 30-50 a lot longer than previous.

so i will be able to get some good use and level up as a single player with the Secret Armory DLC? and it can be beaten by a single player only? i keep reading about this Crawmerax and how you guys are teaming up to beat it.

also, just discovered ammo regeneration via a class mod. been using a machine gun a lot and man do i love seeing that ammo slowly increase without finding more clips.

I think Crawermax will be a challenge solo. Can be done, but typically with a Siren. Other than that, Knoxx was a very enjoyable single player experience.

i'd always be willing to help you out on live too, if you want / need it.

Re: Borderlands

Yeah, it's no problem solo. It is more of a time commitment to do missions though, since you have to drive a mile to get to various points.

so a typical mission would take roughly? perhaps i will wait for a hopefully 1/2 price drop.

Re: Borderlands

Ok...since leveling up all my characters to 61 I'm cleaning out allot at my banks in Moxxie. I've been helped before from others so it's fair to pass it on. I've got a few 'good" weapons in the mid 40's like some Volcanno Snipers, etc.... I have several mods for for all the characters mainly the Hunter in various levels. I've also have several of the "Elemental Artifacts" and here's a list...

Berserker
Level 38 Fire - 2
Level 32 Explosive
Level 44 Fire

Soldier
Level 32 Fire
Level 38 Acid

Hunter
Level 38 Acid
Level 44 Explosive
Level 44 Shock
Level 44 Acid

If you or a friend needs any for a character just message me on Live. I'm usually on after 8-9 central.

Re: Borderlands

Question.

So I'm going through the last missions, and a Claptrap message comes on, saying: "there are new missions available at the 'so-and-so' bounty-board".

I couldn't understand which bounty-board he was saying - besides checking each bounty-board individually, is there a way to find out which ones have available missions?
