Rock Band: The Official Thread

Re: Rock Band: The Official Thread
I'm sure it has something to do with the fact there's only him and Meg live, and he can reasonably play the organ and the rhythm guitar with two hands, but not two guitars.
Watch the end of the music video, and you can hear how the POG makes the distorted guitar sound.

Jack loves his POG, it's what he uses on Blue Orchid.
Now, I'm not 100% on this, it could easily be some sort of cheap organ he found in a thrift store, but you can definitely cop those lo-fi organish sounds with a distorted guitar and the POG.

Re: Rock Band: The Official Thread
There's an organ/synth in the video - just not shown playing it. None of organ solos are showed in the video though, and the part i think you're talking about (around 3:30?) is obviously guitar with distortion action (as shown)...not the same organ as other solos.

Or since you have the right to call out the grundleness of a wiki

But all that's pretty hard to explain to non-musicians.
Though grounded to a greater degree than the Get Behind Me Satan singles in straightforward garage rock, the song differed radically from previous White Stripes singles in its unusual construction: angular tempo-changes, stream-of-consciousness lyrics, and chaotic improvised snake-charming solos, played on a Univox synthesizer.

While the Stripes sound has its foundation in a guitar and drum combination, there were a handful of songs on Icky Thump that included some new instrument choices. For instance, the title track features a vintage Univox synthesizer that Jack White purchased in New Zealand. The keyboard doesn't have a direct out like most keyboards; it has a built in speaker, so Chiccarelli put an 87 about five feet away from it. “It had so much personality that you didn't want to put a mic inches away from it — you really wanted to capture how it sounded in the room.”

I did recognize the fact I could be wrong...you can absolutely cop those tones with a distorted guitar and a POG, easily.
Also, I did appear to be right about cheap thrift store organ, lol.

erm, wrong video? Although knowing Dave Grohl probably increases your chances of getting in RockBand by about 1000%.

Have they announced a Them Crooked Vultures pack to go along with the album finally coming out next week? No? Ok...guess I'll check back in a few days.

I actually thought that was pretty good, going to have to get this pack after all. Looks fun to play.

Not sure if it locked up or was still processing behind the scenes, but I start a 2-song custom setlist, picked my instrument and difficulty and it just sat there. Not frozen because the xbox still responded to the guide button. Gave it a bit and then dropped back to the dash and started back up.
This time it froze on the usual screen, but as I was trying to enter the Den from the main menu.
Nice.

I've been playing a shitload of LEGO since it came out and I have no experienced any freezes at all. There is one time when it goes to a black screen for a few seconds, and that's when you first enter into Story/Quickplay and it has to load the additional content. Other than that, it's pretty smooth sailing.
Do you guys have the game installed?

Yeah, I do. I'm thinking it probably has something do to with the customized rock den. I threw stuff around to get the $1M spent achievement. Next time I'm in there, I'll try to remove things.

I've had it freeze once. I don't recall what I was doing.

Re: Rock Band: The Official Thread
That shouldn't have anything to do with it. I've got tons of shit in my Rock Den, as I've bought pretty much everything so far. I mean, what else are you supposed to do with 300mil+ studs?

Re: Rock Band: The Official Thread
I've got all of that and still over 400M studs, but that's because of the x100 bonus on the endless setlist. I've been capped at 1,000,000,000 fans for a while now
There's definitely some sort of issue and things like this are usually related to memory clashes. So, if releasing the den decorations can cause fewer demands on the system, I'll try it. It's not like I look at the stuff in there anyway.

I haven't looked at the official forums or anywhere. I know you're on NeoGAF and, I think, scorehero. We can't be the only ones experiencing this.

I haven't seen anyone else talking about crashes or lag anywhere besides here.
Of course, a lot of the people on other forums are shitting on LEGO because it's "not hardcore" or "shitty songs".
