You just swipe with the right stick. It won't shoot. The direction you swipe is the direction you're trying to win the faceoff. If you pull back, you'll try to win back, etc. You're not going to pull a Mario and score off the faceoff.

EVERY time I try to dl the patch, my connection gets lost to my server. If I try to d/l the patch thru the game, the console resets. WTF??

The only thing about this game i like is Be a Pro which still plays very nice. The exhibition or whenever your playing as the whole team is horrid. The framerate glitches when the lines change is even worse than last season. The lower teams are way too good compared to what they should be vs higher teams.I really need to stop buying EA products.

Glad to see they got the officiating on par with the NHL. Last night an opposing player looked to trip over a ref without a player on my team close to him and my team got called for tripping. I'm sure it was just a glitch, but funny all the same.

I haven't experience any framerate glitches in the regular game. I think it plays more smoothly than last year. I'm also not sure to what you're referring when you're talking about a competitive imbalance. Again though, I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. There are a few things I'd like adjusted... like the way players get sucked into the boards... and for some reason I'm having a terrible time getting players to one-time the puck. But overall, this is another great NHL game with some surprisingly effective new features and some overblown features (that are still kinda cool, like the additions to the Be A GM mode). Any of these little issues will likely be fixed with some patches. My only major complaint is about teammate AI in Be a Pro. They've made all my AHL teammates morons. At this rate I'm never making it out of the AHL. Not that I necessarily want to since I was drafted 2nd by Tampa. Guh.

I installed the game to my hard drive and that seems to have helped with my framerate problem.

Re: NHL 2010 - The Official Thread of First Person Facebreaking

Hows everyone doing in the Be a Pro mode for NHL 10? I got drafted by the Pens(after a crappy prospects game) and only played 4 games there but had 5 points on the 3rd line and was tied with Crosby for the team lead but got sent down to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.Ive been down there now for 27 games and have 33 points which is 3rd in the AHL and im 1st in the league in goals but no call up as of yet.Took me 20 plus games just to get on the 1st line where im playing with Bill Guerin at least.Having a blast anyway

Re: NHL 2010 - The Official Thread of First Person Facebreaking

It's a bitch getting out of the minors. I actually restarted once I got the hang of playing, but moved my player to a grinder instead of a playmaker. My stats were through the roof, but because I didn't have enough hits, they sent me down...I should've kept it on playmaker I lead the league in goals, assists, and points but my hit total is keeping me down, Damn the Man!!!

Re: NHL 2010 - The Official Thread of First Person Facebreaking

my (BAP) season thus far ... after getting drafted by Ottawa and eventually getting sent down after 5 well played games

Binghamton Senators
34-4-1 (1st in the league)

I'm third in league scoring with 24 pts (2 other players in first tied with 25 pts)
currently playing on the first line .......

......and waiting for my call up to the bigs
*****************************************************
so after 35 games in the A I got called up to the Sens

unfortunately I have to be on a line centering Neil and Ruutu
*****************************************************
right now I'm now on the second line of the Sens

Wow, I'm 15 games in (AHL) and I have 14 goals & 18 assists. A guy on my team actually just overtook my goal lead by 1 (15).

Yeah, I started with a Defensive D-Man. Had a goal and an assist in the prospects game, got drafted by the Lightning and can't get out of bumblefuck. With my D-man last year, I always put low, hard slappers on net so guys could just jam the rebound. Well, I'm not getting any points because the guys on this team can't/won't go near the net. It's pretty unbelievable. I just started a BaP sniper career, got drafted by the Ducks and survived the call up to Anaheim. Unfortunately, though, I'm centered by Erik Christensen. We shipped him out of Pittsburgh for a reason. I now remember why.

I went the sniper route as well and scored four goals in my first four games with Montreal... and was promptly sent to Hamilton. Now I'm in Hamilton playing really well and continuing to score and... Yeah nothing. Just staying in the minors. A lot of the logic there doesn't make much sense, same with the AI general managers in general in BAP mode. Baffling moves all over the place.

I don't think it matters how well you do after being drafted by an NHL team
I think you will still get sent down after x amount of games and have to earn (play x amount of games) your way back up

It kind of amazes me with all the AI that goes into the GM mode that some of that doesn't carry over into the BaP mangers/GM. It almost seems that they simplified the AI logic after last years BaP. I remember wildly variant times between call ups... one of my BaPs got called up after a dozen games (D-Dman). One stayed in the minors for more than 1/2 a season (my power forward). And I kind of liked this. It made it seem like there was someone governing my career. The team didn't need another forward so I didn't get called up (plus I was playing on the hardest skill level and struggling). Maybe 35 game call ups are merely coincidental... but I'd very much prefer this game mode to feel less by the numbers. I don't know if they got complaints from people about the time spent in the minors or whatnot. They certainly changed how long you stay on the ice without being summoned off it seems.

Re: NHL 2010 - The Official Thread of First Person Facebreaking

So, I had a question and didn't want to have to start a new thread. I know that NHL 10 is supposed to be better than NHL 2K10, but does that mean I should completely avoid it? I was able to pick 2K10 up for $24.98 at Target clearance. The reviews have been harsh, mostly complaining how arcadey it is. To me, a casual gamer, that doesn't sound too terrible. Has anyone here tried it? What's your opinion? Worth $25?

i have both and do not like 2k10 at all. The interface to get a game going itself is terrible, and the gameplay is far worse than nhl10. not worth 15.

Re: NHL 2010 - The Official Thread of First Person Facebreaking

I've been playing a lot of this recently online but am a little stuck. Can someone explain to me what you can do to level up your online player besides playing in EASHL games? I've read that you can do drop-in games online that count towards you GP total, but I guess I'm far too stupid to figure out where you even do that.

I tried playing a vs game and an online team game, but those stick with the regular NHL players and didn't seem to add to my GP total.

Any help is appreciated. (Love the game, just hate the menu structure.)

Re: NHL 2010 - The Official Thread of First Person Facebreaking

You playing NHL10 or NHL11? Not that there's a ton of difference... just the requirements, really.

This is a guide created by someone on OperationSports that tells you some of the different ways to acquire boosts:

http://www.operationsports.com/featu...unlocks-guide/

And this is the straight list from IGN:

http://boards.ign.com/nhl_ea_sports/b6062/195646103/p1/

Plus you have to remember to go in and equip any boosts that you unlock. The whole system is a little clunky but it's not too bad once you work out the kinks in the menu system... which needs an overhaul, IMO.

Re: NHL 2010 - The Official Thread of First Person Facebreaking

I'm playing 10. I saw some of those boost lists, but I thought those only applied to the offline BAP player?

Thanks for those links.

I guess mostly I want to get more games online under my belt so I can get to the veteran and eventually legends card, but I've only been able to add to my total by playing league games which requires a second player. Is there another online game type you can play (I'm on a 360) that adds to the total games played?

Well disregard those boost lists anyway since those are for 11.

You can play drop-in games on NHL10, IIRC. But the EASHL menus have changed so much from NHL10 to 11 I don't have the faintest idea how I did that in NHL10. The good news is that you can do it. The bad news is that I can only tell you to keep looking... cuz it's there. Somewhere.

OK thanks, I'll take another roam around today and see if I can figure it the hell out. I'm pissed I missed that half/off EA sale from yesterday, 11 would have been mine.
