Holy shit I'm pissed! I tried to get on yesterday morning, couldn't do it because of MS's fuck up. Last night I couldn't pry my wife off the goddamn TV so I didn't get to see the Game Room and after a hellish call night I was too tired to out-wait her and went to bed. Today I get on, buy Centipede for the hell of it and discover I don't get a free mascot because it was first day only. Are you fucking kidding me? I'm so mad I can't even see straight. What the hell?

No. You can't emulate a pinball machine. These are all straight-up video game emulations.

Speaking of mascots, what the hell do they do?

I tried to decorate my room with the ones I got but they're not in the list.

I honestly didn't spend a lot of time with it, so maybe I'm missing an obvious thing.. I wanted to beat Cave Story first so by the time I turned the Xbox on it was already past my bedtime so I just wanted to see the emulation quality (no blur filters, fuck yeah).

Mascots wander around aimlessly, they're not decor. Go to My Collection -> Mascots to enable them.

Well, that certainly sucks...I was going to go pick up a 1600 point card today, part of which was going to probably Game Room, and thought the free Mascots thing would last longer than one day. Especially one day that was marred with problems. I did get on and download the packs and the app last night, browse around that kinda thing. Honestly though, the only ones I would play right now would probably be Centipede and Crystal Castles. Most of the other ones are way too old, even for my liver spotted ass. Ehhh, I'll probably still pick up a card, my wife saw Rock Band songs she wants....again :D

Re-reading my post, I may have overreacted a bit. I can see I may have some anger issues right now to work through. I blame too many late-night hospital calls and Kansas basketball. I really do need a vacation. :blush:

Well I mean, I already own both Atari Anthology and Intellivision Lives for the Xbox, both of which play on the 360. All the Atari and Intellivision games released so far are on those discs, and they're super cheap now. So I can't see myself every paying $3 for a game that I can already play on my 360 anyway. I'm just wondering if the leaderboards or challenges are that enticing.

I'm trying not to cave in....but I think part of the reason is the achievements. It's 1000 points, and the killer thing is that when you hit start for the first time, it automatically gives you one of the 5ers. So therefore, it is stuck on your card for life and you feel obligated to play. BTW, I did get a 1600 point card at lunch. I will most likely download Centipede & Crystal Castles to amuse myself along with one of the mascots since they aren't free anymore :(. So feel free to FR me and send me challenges for those games. Be gentle.

I think I like the centipede cabinet more than the game. I wish I could put one of those machines in my waiting room, but I'm sure it would get trashed real quickly.

I do like that rewind feature a lot though. It's way useful in Duke Nukem and it's even more functional here. Bring on Ms Pac Man (and maybe Burger Time as well).

I think those add a lot to it. I have Intellivision Lives on the PC and Xbox as well as the Atari Anthology on the PC, but I just prefer this pick-up-and-play version. Having leaderboards and people to play with/against adds something that the old discs do not have. I'm no longer playing with myself...

Additionally it's a nice merging of the disparate anthology types, unmuddied by the bevy of shit I won't ever play on a bloated disc. For instance, I'm not an Atari fan, but I can see myself picking up a handful of titles in the future should they become available. I can't say what those are, though, so there's not many.

Yes, I wish the games were cheaper. No, "$3" isn't breaking the bank. Nobody pays full price for XBL points (around here at least), so I don't know what I'm actually spending to pay for Lunar Lander.

Astrosmash & Space Armada - Classic Intellivision games that bring back great memories and my kids will love. Actually, I was showing off SA to my 9 year-old, thinking she'd be bored by it, but she said it looks cool. She played it for a bit and I was happy. Would I have ever bothered to break out the IL! disc for that? Doubtful. Had it come to fruition on the DS, possibly.

Space Hawk - I never played this back in the day. I splurged on it because it was a moment of weakness and the "free" mascot was essentially the Intellivision guy running around my arcade. Net of $2.50 for the game seemed worth it at the time. I doubt I'll play much if it, though.

Lunar Lander - I'm a computer and math nerd but, somehow, I never played this. I fell in love with it instantly. No, there's not much randomness to it and it seems easily memorizable, but it's still fun as hell. Great purchase for me and the 360 controls are spot-on for it.

Red Baron - I've already defended this purchase. It's not a terrible game and I consider it a message to Atari that we want vector-graphics games like Battlezone and Star Wars. Plus the mascot was, by far, the coolest of the bunch and I love seeing him fly around the pointless arcade.

I recognize that some advanced Intellivision games will be harder to play on the 360 than on the PC where the keyboard is a valid form of input, but the mapping of the RS to the button pad isn't terrible. Especially in a game like B-17 Bomber where those were mostly for moving to the different turret positions.

I love Adventure. It was one of the first 2600 games I played over and over besides maybe Combat. I've already beaten this version twice and will probably play it dozens of times. When I was a kid I hated most arcade games where the point was just to get a score. I would play them a few times, but the only score based games that interested me were pinball games. I had my Atari for a year or so and never wanted anything for it. Then I found Adventure and realized this was the type of game I wanted. I had a pretty long wait though for more games like it. Probably not until the NES did I find games I really liked.

There's no technical reason why not. GFWL has the same friend list as XBL, right? As long as they're on your friends list, it should work.
