Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
I'm sorry, but I'm not at all nostalgic for old FPS titles. I don't think there's any other genre that seems as dated. Personally, I'd much rather play Battlefield 1943 than Doom 2 online.

I love me some CCG style games. Hopefully the demo is good.

Are there any videos or previews of that CCG/WWII game? I have never even heard of it till today.

Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
Nope. Today is the first anyone in the public's heard about it, as far as I can tell. It's only a month away (allegedly).

Not exactly it is an Arcade game and there has been good games that you didn't hear of until close to the release.
|
Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
That game vaguely reminds me of Memoir '44 a WWII board game that is uses a card system for action.

Serious Sam HD footage:
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" id="gtembed" width="480" height="392"> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /> <param name="movie" value="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=54243"/> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <embed src="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=54243" swLiveConnect="true" name="gtembed" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="true" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="392"></embed> </object> Looks great. I'm curious why there wasn't any footage of the giant battles with hundreds of enemies on screen though. Looks like I'll be breaking my $10 barrier twice within a few weeks, for this and probably Shadow Complex. |

It is funny how I can get excited about this "generic shooter" but still rail against Halo 3

Probably because at least this game admits it's generic, unlike Halo which I found the storyline of the whole universe to be dull and uninspired.

Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
FWIW, I'm having way more fun with Trials HD than I did with 'Splosion Man.
It's so much fun and addicting. Though it's a little unfair in places where you can't see very well, and you fuck up because of that, and not because it's challenging. But it's such a blast - there's a lot of content here for 1200 points. At least try the demo! |
Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
I am getting mad at trials though it is very hard and I am retarded which is not a solid combo.
|
Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
I love the Trials demo. I think it's an amazing looking game. If Shadow Complex wasn't this week (or I wouldn't have wasted $20 on the Gears DLC - I HATE ME!) I would definitely have already picked it up. As it stands, I just keep playing the demo over an over and over..... :(

Pretty satisfied with the XBLA Summer games, even Turtles in Time has provided some entertainment.
Hopefully Shadow Complex will trump them all, til then Splosion Man is still tops for me. |
Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
Even though I'm still not done and the year isn't over, I think Splosion Man will end up being in my top 5 of the year.
|
Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
Splosion Man and Trials HD are both highlights of this year's downloadable game release list, and it sounds like Shadow Complex will soon be joining that group. Definitely a solid "Summer of Arcade" promotion this year.
