I am playing Mario Galaxy wondering which game is everyone's favorite? I am talking mainly about the Browser kidnaps Peach and Mario has to rescue her Mario series. All the other ones really don't count but if they are your favorite click on the other option

I haven't pulled the trigger on the poll yet, but I'm still in love with Galaxy.

Kind of odd to not keep the poll to the core platforming series though.

I agree completely on both counts.

Super Mario Galaxy is pure magic, and is neck and neck with RE4 Wii and Ocarina of Time as my favorite games I've ever played.

You'll get a lot of votes for SMB3, SMW and SM64. SMB3 will win the poll.

Also, you're missing New Super Mario Brothers, which is a teriffic game, and nostalgia aside is probably better than 3 or World.

Since there's no "Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door", I'm going to vote for just regular Paper Mario.

However, it's really too close to call between that, SMB3, SMW, 64, and Galaxy.

That's like asking me whether I would like to have sex with Charlize Theron, Kristen Bell, Jenna Fischer, Lauren Graham or Yvonne Strahovski.

Super Mario World was the best for me. I felt it was 2D Mario perfected.

I think New Super Mario Bros has been my favorite. I bet a lot of it was nostalgia from playing a 2D Mario again, but I absolutely loved the game. Mario 3 and World are right up there behind it.

I couldn't get into Mario Galaxy. Just seemed like a chore trying to get stars rather then an entertaining experience and I didn't get very far in it.

Many people like SMW2: Yoshi's Island but I was never a big fan (and it's definitely a different kind of game than a standard Mario title).

I voted SMW. Close tie with SMB3 though. Never been a fan of 3D platformers...although I have played some Galaxy and some Mario 64.

New SMB was too easy IMO. Good game but it felt easier than SMW or SMB3 somehow.

I was going to put a "Other" choice too but I forgot. If there is one that is your favorite that I did not mention just state it in the post.

I voted for Mario 3 but almost voted for Mario Kart on the SNES.

I have not liked any of the 3-D Mario games.

Had to vote for Mario Galaxy....such a great game IMO. I've really enjoyed it, and just started playing it again.

Based on this, I find the inclusion of the Kart games puzzling.

That being said, SMB3 will probably always be my favorite.

Yep...the Karts don't really make much sense (no Double Dash?). Neither does RPG (especially since the Paper series has been better)

If it's really just the main platformers, it's gotta be either SMWorld if you like 2D (or maybe 3) or SMGalaxy if you like 3D (64 has not aged well IMO).

Went with Super Mario 64. Loved that game! I almost went with Super Mario World, but Mario 64 seemed to provide a lot more memories.

Since SMB3 was voted favorite video game of the forum, clearly it should be winning.

The pinnacle of Mario-as-a-platformer is Super Mario World. Super Mario Bros. started it all, and Super Mario Bros. 3 expanded on that, but World was perfection.

New Super Mario Bros., to me, is the fourth "true" non-GBA Mario platformer, and it was good, but it pales in comparison to the sheer size of SMW.

The 3D Mario games (64, Sunshine, Galaxy) I've never been a huge fan of. Something is lost, perhaps in the pitch-perfect 2D controls. (Zelda works better in 3D).

I can't consider a Mario game where you don't play Mario as part of the core franchise despite the title.

Funny I've been debating this with a CAG user the past week(who thinks the Mario Party games are platformers and a part of the core series), but I'd see the core franchise as:

Yoshi's Island has some of the best art direction of any game. The gameplay is fun, but not revolutionary. And it's a Yoshi game, not a Mario game.

Yoshi's island was a great game but somewhat disappointing as a Mario game, similar to North America's Super Mario 2. Edit: yeah it's not even considered part of the main Mario series.

Voted Galaxy. That game is just awesome in every way. Last time I played SMB3, I got my ass handed to me. Should have left that one as a fond memory.

And if memory serves, I think it eliminated World!

Head-to-head, I would have picked SMB3 over SMW. But since this is a different beast, with different candidates and participants, I think you shouldn't necessarily expect the same results.

Mario World is probably my favorite, closely followed by Mario Bros. 2.
