Just got a Warped Tour email update and in it it says:

Get the Warped Tour song packs for Rock Band featuring tracks from The Devil Wears Prada, Underoath, Bad Religion, Chiodos, A Day to Remember, Thrice and more! Available on June 23rd and 30th in the Rock Band Music Store on Xbox Live Marketplace.
In for some Bad Religion and possibly some Thrice if it's 'To Awake and Avenge the Dead'

Definitely. Don't know much about the other bands, but I find it interesting they're spanning 2 weeks for Warped Tour.

6/23 - Warped 1
6/30 - Warped 2
7/7 - Green Day

Needs moar metal?

I was just thinking the same thing, pinata. I doubt they'd do only Warped Tour packs for two weeks. They'll probably sprinkle a couple of singles in or another 3-pack per week to try to appease a larger spectrum of fans.

I never chimed in on the 'what bands from the disc need the DLC treatment' topic so here are a few I would like to see revisited:

Bad Company
Smashing Pumpkins
Kiss
Bon Jovi
Journey
Linkin Park
Alanis Morrisette
Tenacious D - still waiting on Wonderboy and Tribute

and of course more

Dream Theater

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Smashing Pumpkins already has DLC in the form of Zero and Siva. Journey also has Don't Stop Believin'.

I'd say out of on-disc atrists, the ones that need DLC are:

Blue Oyster Cult
Bon Jovi
Mastodon
Alanis Morrisette
The Rolling Stones

I also wouldn't mind seeing a couple Tenacious D songs or maybe even some more Bosstones.

NOFX is on the Warped Tour this year.....my fingers will remain crossed.

Dream Theater also has Constant Motion. 1-2 songs aren't enough, I'd just like to see more from these groups. I'd take more BOC as well.

Yes, but unfortunately those both came out long ago, before Corgan got in bed with the GH brand and was digitized into GH:WT....that's probably why there has been new DLC for that game from the Pumpkins and not any more in RB....probably why we don't see any Hendrix or Ozzy in RB either....

Right now it looks like we will have to grab GH5 if someone wants to play another Pumpkins track....

I finally just started seeing them in the vending here this week, so maybe they're making their way around in stock now.

EDIT - And I just went 2 for 2 for the day! (Although it's a problem when I already have most of the stuff on the list, and the others are stuff I didn't want in the first place. Different when it's free though I guess. )

More Bad Religion in Rock Band makes me a happy camper indeed.

It's not the entire catalog. For instance, one Silversun Pickups song and 3 Nirvana, but then it seems like it has all the Grateful Dead and some others. There's still a lot to choose from, but it's definitely not everything.

Same here, but I was thinking the other day about what one song would best represent NOFX in Rock Band? GHWT had "Soul Doubt," which I thought was a pretty poor choice. I'd assume they'd go for "Franco Un-American," since that's the closest they've ever come to having an actual single but that song's like 6 years old now. Anyway, it was just something I was thinking about since 90% of their catalog is made up of songs inappropriate enough to make singing vocals pretty pointless.

At any rate, I'm still stoked for the Warped packs (2!!!), but that list of bands has me a bit concerned. I'm definitely down for Thrice and Bad Religion and maybe Underoath if they manage to pick one of the 2-3 songs I actually like, but TDWP and Chiodos are kinda terrible. Keeping my fingers crossed for some ska to show up in one of the packs (Less Than Jake, Streetlight Manifesto, Westbound Train, or Big D will do just fine) and I really hope they stay the fuck away from brokenCYDE and Millionaires whose music makes me literally angry with rage.

Not so. Dream Theater is labeled as Prog in the RB Universe. Some of the Warped Tour stuff would probably get shuffled into Emo, Punk or maybe plain old Metal, but definitely not Prog. :)

I know that, and you know that but anyone that played Panic Attack in the main game(or even Constant Motion DLC) would shuffle them into the Metal genre.

I don't think I would. I wish they'd branch the genres out a little bit more. Metal is just way too broad to hold everything that they classify in that genre. Grunge didn't make its way in right away, so some of the Nirvana is "Rock", even when it's from the same album as the other "Grunge" stuff.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

But can't you have songs from different genres from the same band and even album?

I've never really liked genre as a classification too much, because it's so subjective.

Overall archetypes like Rock, Metal, Country, Pop are enough for me.

I would put them in an entirely different category, but from the last couple of pages of posts, I'm guessing you wouldn't like to hear it.

I tend to agree. But when you're playing through the Infinite Metal Setlist, and you get Visions next to Motley Crue and Judas Priest.. Or you get Between the Buried & Me in the same setlist with Jethro Tull.

Prog != Prog Metal

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Yeah, it's just subjective based on what was available at the time the song was packaged for the game.

It's not a job I'd envy.

Would that would be the "DLC Superfro Won't Be Buying" genre?

Judging by his hair, he's saving his money for a Garfunkel pack.
