Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread
I hope that the sequel has hobo hoodied dudes that aren't nailing you like a trained sniper assassin. Nothing is annoying me more (ok Zeke is) than getting picked off from a 1/2 mile away while I hang from a building disabling security cameras.
|
That's why I spent maybe 10 minutes clearing out the entire area before even starting on either of my security camera side-missions.

I haven't played a ton of videogames like many here, so I haven't run into game bugs too often. But, I've had at least three in this game so far: I'll try to reach somewhere and usually end up falling between things, at which point I get stuck. The game will be in some weird visual loop until I find some place to move....usually to my death.
And this really confused me. I've been playing the Good route throughout, always making the good choices. Over the weekend, I went through the sewer quest in which I got the Shield power. I took out bad guy after bad guy and finally restored the power. The karma thing comes on the screen and says "Your actions in the sewer have made you more Evil". What the?!? :whofart: All I did was take out Dustmen and I'm more Evil? Seems to me, if your game is going to be about good and evil choices, it should be more obvious which is which when it's not spelled out for you by the blue/red symbol on the screen. Especially when there isn't a single "innocent" within sight. :( |

Neither, I just kill wounded opponents---by giving them an extra shock. I didn't know something like that affected my karma.
Guess I do now. |
Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread
I've started over now and I'm going for pure evil this time.
I'm killing indiscriminately and making the worst choice as to karma every time. The game is different too, it changes a little based on how you act. |
It almost seems like Evil is the way to go in these games, you can just let loose with your powers and don't have to care about any collateral damage.

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread
Yeah, the game is a bit unpredictable sometimes when it comes to how good/evil you were for a given mission. I've had it happen a couple of times where I didn't think I did anything evil yet it told me my actions made me more evil. A breakdown at the end of each mission for what good/evil choices were made would have been nice.
As for the bugs, I had that stuff happen to me a LOT. One time, I jumped off of a car onto the sidewalk and fell right through the ground (to my death, of course). I pointed out in my first post after having actually played the game that it was pretty "unpolished," which is funny because I've seen that word pop up in a lot of the reviews for Prototype. |

Guess I do now. Still ended "more evil". And, wow is the historic district filled with a whole lot more (and much harder-to-disable) randoms. |
Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread
Just finished the "good" story today and while I enjoyed the heck out of it, I have no desire to play the evil side. I really enjoyed the varying missions and climbing to the peaks of some of the tallest buildings and then free falling was pretty sweet. Good game - overall a B+ due to some of the control and graphical glitches.

I completed the main storyline last night and just have a single pesky section left to clear out. It's in the Warren district at the very top of the map, just to the left of the bridge that opened up the Historic District. It's a couple buildings near the water.
I spent about 10 minutes in that section last night, trying to find anything that might trigger the yellow side quest balloon. No such luck. Does anybody know where I'm describing and how to trigger that quest? 83 out of 84 sections cleared. I just have to finish that one before putting the game away. |

Hmmm, I did take out some Dustmen outside the area I have yet to clear, but only restrained them (along with 3 innocents, whoops). Since it was outside the area, I didn't think that would be the thing to trigger the quest. I'll have to see if that situation restarts when I try again today.

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread
I played about 6 hours yesterday. A few things that bug me.
The 3rd person camera can be freaking annoying. Lots of times I'm hanging from something trying to aim and the camera angle gets blocked. I like that it's easy to climb buildings, slide rails, etc. Unfortunately, I stick to everything like double-sided duct tape. Aside from those technical issues, there's a few other things bugging me. The orange hoodies are all snipers and I'm a bullet magnet. Instead of facing 4 that are deadeye shooters, I'd rather deal with 6 that are hit and miss. And I don't like the Good/Bad power scheme. If I want to take advantage of the power upgrades, I either need to be all-good or all-bad. I wish it was more flexible. Despite these gripes, I'm having fun. It's a good game. Probably not a Game Of The Year contender. I'd give it a B+. |
Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread
I've been meaning to post here since my dad got me this game as a gift and I gotta say that I'm having a blast. I'm already at the third district and completed the first two at 100% (though I think I may have missed a few blast shards). It's a lot of fun. I didn't have any of the karma or falling through the ground issues some of you mentioned. It's been pretty straight forward to me. The only times I've become slightly more evil is when I caused a lot of collateral damage to get out of a sticky situation or two.
I'm right now on the part with the bombs and people trapped in some electric fence. It's a little irritating so I finally took a break from the game. Loads of fun, though. I do agree with the double-sided tape complaint, though. It makes it a pain when you're trying to outrun all the snipers in the game (which is pretty much everey enemy character). Still, loads of fun and I'm really digging the story. I find it odd that whenever there's a TV broadcast it's ridiculously loud and the sounds come from my rears even if the TV is dead center in front of me. |
Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread
OK, I have an unused gamestop preorder code thingy for infamous for that super power. First person to send me a PM that has over 700 posts (want this to go to a loyal dvdtalker who has been here and posted for awhile) will get it... I also have one of the exclusive best buy only player skins for Ghostbusters. It is the mayor and a zombie i think. Only works in multiplayer.. I own neither game anymore. Same stipulation on the ghostbusters code, but same person cannot have both. Please specify which one you want, and I will post here when they are gone.
Congrats Musick on the Gigawatt blades code. Let me know when it is used please, just scratched it but I want to make sure it works :P |
Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread
Finally finished the game. Loved the ending. My only gripes are the fact that your in-game decision don't affect the story one bit, the double-faced tape feel to Cole when he grips to something, and the boss battles were actually rather lackluster. For some reason, those boss battles didn't have that "super hero" vibe I got from the rest of the game.
Spoiler:
Nevertheless, I eagerly look forward to the sequel. |

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread
So I've been playing this lately. Turns out that there's a bug (one of many) that allows you to access the Historic District before you finish the Warren. You go to the gate of the long bridge on the north side, jump repeatedly against the corner where the grating meets the brick, and sooner or later you'll land on the other side. The bridge isn't solid, but if you climb up to the top of the structure and jump off, you can walk on the railing on the top. When the railing ends, you can leap from column to column and climb back up to the top girders.
It's completely pointless, but I like exploiting glitches like that. :) |
Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread
The Gigawatt Blades are being released as free DLC next Thursday and the game's getting a price drop to $40.

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread
I would love some actual gameplay DLC for this game - shouldn't be tough to do; just throw in some new objectives and/or enemy types in areas that are already in the game - a lot of the city didn't get was left unexplored during the regular story mission - the shard-hunting left me cold though. It would go a long way to hold us over waiting for the next installment.

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread
How long does it actually take to finnish this game? I have been playing for about 3 hours and have done virtually nothing other than escape have some ghost lady talk to me and try to find some sort of signal. I am not sure about this one yet...
|
Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread
I think I clocked in at about 15 hours? But I did every little thing possible. Once you start figuring out your way around, things progress much more smoothly.

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread
Passed it last Saturday as a good guy. Just need 2 fucking shards, went through the whole map looking for both, nothing. Also just need to kill a couple more [I guess] to get 25 kills while on the train trophy and also like 8 more stunts, for that trophy. I'll play it again as an evil guy before part 2 comes out.

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread
Picked this up as part of the PSN freebie. Gotta say, I'm pleasantly surprised. I like it alot. It kind of reminds me of Crackdown but I like this quite a bit more. This is sort of what I wished Crackdown could have been. My only issue is that the controls are super touchy. It's a decent game and I'm happy to have got it for free.
