Just wondering.

at first I thought adding the Uncharted beta was a strategy to get people to purchase a subpar game ..... this was definately not the case

I'm sure the addition of the beta helped a little bit but I doubt it had much impact .... plus beta codes have been available in abundance via other outlets

Being that I picked up inFamous the week before it's official release and this is the first I'm hearing of this Uncharted beta, I'd say not too many.

Nearing the end of the game. I think this has one of the biggest holy shit moments:
Spoiler:
When Cole defuses the bombs and has to choose to save the doctors or Trish. I'm playing as good so ended up saving the doctors. But I felt like i should've saved her instead. Such a heartbreaking decision to make. For those that have played through as evil what happens if you save Trish instead?

I actually am playing through as Hero but inadvertantly saved Trish instead of the doctors ..... she dies regardless

Just finished the game,
Spoiler:
saw the "twist" coming a mile away, and I'm kinda bummed that they didn't really wrap up the storyline - this trend of open-ended stories for video games is bullshit.
However, I am glad that they let go about around the city collecting whatever's left - but if you finished all the side missions, there's not much left to do besides getting shards.

I just finished as well. Great game. in regards to the ending
Spoiler:
I dont know how you could spot the ending coming. What parts of the game foreshadowed the time traveling cole is kessler twist? Totally agree with you on the open ended crap. I was waiting for moya to show up and lock Cole up in some kind of special prison like magneto at the end of x-men

Spoiler:
I don't know, it's just that as Kesseler got mentioned more and more, I just assumed he was an older version of Cole - I just saw some twist coming, and that seemed to be the most obvious thing.

Regarding what you expected - if Cole was locked up, you wouldn't be able to keep prancing about the city collecting things you may have missed.

Here's what I hope to see in a sequel.

Spoiler:
I would like to know exactly who the Nemesis is and what his plan is. I would like for Cole to have extended powers and an even grander playground for the game to take place in. Hopefully the sequel would wrapup the story and redeem Cole in the end for all the suffering that he/Kessler caused in the first place. Obviously something happened at the hands of the Nemesis that made Kessler feel like taking some lives in Empire City was all for the greater good as he knew what this Nemesis would do.

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread

I had to join the forum just to post on this game.

I played the Demo first. I thought..."This is fun I guess". But as I did more and more missions I realized "I'm really enjoying this!"

I enjoyed it so much I went out and bought Assassins Creed to hype myself for this game. 20 bucks used. YEA!

So i went out and bought this game when it came out. Haven't Played A.C. since. I went to work, realized I really wanted to play more Infamous. Thats impressive for a game IMO.

I think that the game is a well put together. Sometimes I get some frustrating failures of "snapping to" things, like wires and platforms. The sewer sections are NERVE wracking. I keep saying "Trust the game, it wont let you fall".

The city looks great, characters look great...effects are top notch. Sound is cool. I have the "Dead drop" ringing in my head.

The story I thought was great. I'll use spoiler tags though.

Spoiler:
I thought the storyline was okay playing it through. Zeke annoyed me, Moya annoyed me. I finally got really hooked the first time I heard Sasha's voice. When I heard her and I started to see things, I realized "THIS IS COOL!". I did see the twist ending coming a mile away, but kept dismissing it.

When i saw Kessler I first said "He's Cole from the future". Then Sasha's talking about me and how I chose Trish over her. I went "Oh, she means Kessler...shes confusing us...maybe I am Kessler". I dismissed it though because shes F'n bug nutty.

When Trish dies, Kessler said it was hard for him too. My roommate got annoyed at this

But I said "Well, what if Kessler is Cole?".
She replies "That would be stupid"
"Nah, what if hes coming back to prevent something from happening...like I'm suppose to be more ruthless (I played good)"
"That doesn't make sense"
"Well if they're trying to urge me to play the game again, if I played evil, they would tell me that I had to be more good...either way...Guy looks like me. And if hes not me, then he's like...trish's dad or something. Why would her death be hard for him?"

The final hint was when he started to say things like 'You would have married her", or "Your mother was ashamed of you". Thats when I said "Yup, either me or Trish's dad".

The ending was great. I'm a fan of time traveling stories, lol. I definately think they left it open for a sequel. The problem is, I want content NOW. I really liked the story, and the game as a whole. I dont know if I can wait, lol.

My gripes with the story.

Zeke is/was annoying. Even his final scene where he tries to help Cole...he only tried to help because the plan didn't work. He's too flawed of a character. The whole game I'm going "Why does Cole care about this guy?". He was just such a scumbag. When he turned his back on me, I couldn't wait to deal with him. The ending left that plot line up in the air. I felt like they should have given that some resolution.

Same deal with Moya. I wanted to know what she was up to.

Trish dying really sucked. It took me for a loop. But I felt as the whole game she was annoying and kinda bitchy to Cole. See the problem with this is that when I had to make the choice, it was only a choice of what the game wanted me to do. The problem is that Cole was attached to Trish, not me. Trish and Cole had a long life together before I played the game. I should have been given a chance to be more attached to the character to become more emotionally invested in the character.

Same for John, but much less to that extent.

Something that really bothers me is the guy on the TV. I didn't catch his name. He kept talking bad about me. There were times where I was Cole, and dealing with this guy PISSED me off. I saved a train full of people, and hes trying to take that from me, saying I was a fraud. OH I couldn't wait until i reached that mission. Oh wait...I didn't reach the mission...I never got it. Yea he was picked up by someone (Wasn't it Zeke who said he found out who that guy was?), but I felt like Cole should have dealt with it. It was a very interesting side-plot that could have really had a satisfying pay off in the end.

Well thats my view....long read, but that sums up how i feel about it. Again, I loved it. The story kinda lacked in a few areas, but all in all...it makes me wanna continue playing it, and talk about it. I Definately give this game a HIGH recommendation. A must BUY. Give Sucker Punch that paper, they deserve it!.

I'm listening to 1Up's ListenUP podcast, and they seem to come down on the Infamous side of the Infamous/Prototype debate...mostly because it's more technically sound.

They both seem fun to me, just in different ways.

...and welcome Kail!

This seems to be the attitude of IGN and several other sites. Prototype is fun, but very unpolished and repetitive from what they are saying. I have Infamous in my gold box for $47.49. May finally pull the trigger on it, but I have such a backlog right now to get through.

Does anyone know where you can locate the amount of playtime? I looked everywhere but couldn't find it. Even at the end of the game it doesn't say how long you've been playing.

Yeah, that's one thing that I wish they would've made a mission out of to wrap up - shouldn't have been too tough to do.

As far as a sequel, I doubt it'll still take place in Empire City (maybe if it were a downloadable game it could just add some missions to tie up loose ends), but for a new $60 game, they better build a whole new city for it.

Is it not listed under the saved game file? I know that's where it usually is and I know that the infamous save game file tells you how many shards and stuff you found but I don't know about the time.

That's where it should be but I just checked and no time logged on any of the saves. It has to be somewhere.

In my opinion, Prototype is better. I'm more interested in having fun and seeing everything I can do in games rather than progressing and seeing the story unfold. I haven't touched InFamous since I got Prototype.

Supermallet 06-14-09 06:08 PM

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread

I felt completely the opposite. Infamous felt like there was a point to all the stuff I was doing, and in a fully realized world. Prototype just feels unfinished.

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread

I'm playing Prototype right now. I'm finding it a bit too chaotic. There's so much shit going on around me, I can't tell who I'm supposed to be killing and who's just on their way to work. I'm missing Infamous more and more. I think there's a lot of promise, but like others have said, it feels unfinished.

Has anyone else been experiencing problems w/glitches? I had tons of glitches in the first military base battle (i.e. getting caught up on enemies and the wall).

edit: LOL..I thought I was in the Prototype thread :suicide:

Just finished the game myself.
Spoiler:

I wonder how they'll reconcile the fact that Cole could either become evil or good in the first one.

Of course, the plot is full of holes. Was this really the best plan that Cole could come up with, killing the one he loved to harden his past self? Killing all these people because a bigger threat was coming? Why not just nullify the Nemesis instead?

And what the heck was up with Zeke? Aside from being really annoying, I thought you would finally get to kick his behind as a miniboss or something, but he goes and betrays you and then just shows up out of nowhere and does nothing? Ugh.
