Even if this game got a 6 or 7, it's Fallout, and it's got some of the original Fallout people involved, so it's win-win. I loved the first one as well...when the second one was coming out I bought a new computer just to run it...I was so excited.... It was made by Obsidian...and was a sequel to a game by Bioware...and the talk was that BioWare was behind the scenes, to make sure it was up the quality people expected... It is a good game...deserved a high 7 low 8...but I had just spent near 2000 bucks to play it...so of course I was disappointed... here we are again, Obsidian is making the follow up to a loved game by a great studio who is suppose to be working behind the scenes to make sure it is up to the quality we expect. I took a weeks vacation just to play it...I hope I don't feel the same way I did about Neverwinter..though if I do it is my own damn fault..LOL.. truth is it will prob rock!!! |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Sweet just got my shipping notification from NewEgg. It's coming from NJ so I may very well still get it on release day. I was fine waiting a couple days since it was $10 MSRP but that just makes it even better.

Nice I ordered this from Amazon with release date delivery. Though I still have a solid unplayed pile.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I'm confused by this review lol:
Fallout New Vegas review is available on a greater number of actual sites on the cyber space and it makes a clear statement that this awesome game is being awaited by several people from different parts of the planet. Talking about the Fallout New Vegas review we can make a clear judgment that we are pretty early into the game as it did not get the big break release till now and it shall be brought out for the people in the Northern America region tomorrow while on some other pieces of the planet it would be released on the 22 October. The game in actual is going to get a mega release on number of platforms and it shows that it is actually brought to the gaming world for reach by several humans and the people have got the option to choose their desired platform in order to enjoy the great features of the video game. While making the very tough decision to get the new release or not, discussing Fallout New Vegas review we say that the game in actual is going to have a lot more fresh content then it seems to be and one should get his reach on an actual copy of the superb VG and opt for the device that he actually loves the most as he shall be given the actual option of using a PC or the gaming devices launched by Sony or the X-box. The period that is portrayed in the game is of the year 2281 and that is a period that is really far away and technology would be at a higher end at that time. |

http://www.vg247.com/2010/10/18/beth...new-vegas-dlc/ Pretty sure Sony has secured the same sort of deal with other cross-platform titles. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Yeah, Sony has gotten the Joker levels for Batman AA, the Mafia II missions, and I believe some Red Dead outfits first.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Reviews are starting to come out:
It’s easy to see there was influence in the development cycle from a few key pieces of the original development team from the beginning of the series. They lovingly came back to the wastelands and brought us a masterpiece of gaming. All has been forgiven Obsidian. We’ll pretend that Alpha Protocol didn’t happen. Pros: * More of a great thing is an amazing thing * Faction and Weapon enhancements * Tons of replay value * Upcoming DLC already announced Cons: * Waiting for the DLC * Waiting for the next Fallout game http://feedyourconsole.com/2010/10/r...out-new-vegas/ |

Sad to hear about all the bugs this game has, hopefully it will get patched soon. I'm still looking forward to playing it.

An 8.5 from Game Informer is bad. They gave Mafia II a 9 IIRC. Mafia II was a fun game but it's no Fallout. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Just from seeing all the reviews.
Basically technically this game has pretty much the same issues that FO3 had, but the additional tweaks/rep/factions/storyline etc more than make up for it. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Sounds like lots of annoying bugs, but other than that an excellent game, especially if you were a Fallout 3 fan?

everything else is better in new vegas (from everything I am reading), Most give negative marks for graphics (old engine) and bugs Common theme is if you love FO3, you will love this. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Yeah, the game is being butchered for bugs. Is this another KOTOR II like people feared?
Either way, I love me some Fallout and my CE game and guide arrive today  |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I don't know if I'll pick this up today or not. I'm working 12-15 hour days for the next 9 or 10 days straight & it will be just sitting there...
|
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
well honestly..if you can give another 'pass' for the bugs, then it will be a awesome ride.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I'm sure they will patch it. I'm not worried. If it's anything like Fallout 3, it autosaves a ton, and the more you have the slower it runs.
Oh and I just checked and my order still hasn't shipped from Amazon. It's in the "processing and cannot be changed" phase. They better not send it late like they did Madden 11. |

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Got this from Amazon:
Hello from Amazon.com. We're sorry for the delay in shipping the order you placed on September 29 2010. We have good news -- the order is now being shipped! You should receive a shipping notification shortly, within the next business day, for the following item(s): "Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition" The shipping notification will include an updated estimated delivery date and tracking information if it's available. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this delay. ---------------------------------- This sucks. I bet it doesn't arrive til tomorrow now, and I'll be gone most of the day tomorrow. Amazon has been shit lately. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Just a heads up if you placed your order at Amazon.com and received the $10 Video Games Credit email. I tried to use my credit this morning and it didn't work. Others on the CAG forums have reported having the same problem. I contacted customer service and they credited my last order placed for the $10.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
My guide and game are in the delivery van. Let's see who arrives first (different carriers). :D

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Destructoid Score: 9.0 -- Superb
If New Vegas were being reviewed as a piece of software, as a technical product, the judgement would be absolutely appalling. These are games, however, and deserve to be reviewed for the experiences they provide. The experience of New Vegas is sublime and so incredibly big that the ratio between getting annoyed by freezes and getting excited by the game's wonderfully engaging world firmly favors a positive outlook. Very few games could be good enough to make up for serious technical errors. In fact, I could count them on one hand. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Guardian:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology...w-vegas-review 5/5 The question of whether New Vegas could convince those that so far haven't been keen on the series is a difficult one. The focus is very much still on immersion and exploration, and despite some concessions for action nuts, those looking for shallow shoot-em-up thrills and spills are still best catered for elsewhere. For the rest of us, Fallout: New Vegas is simply every bit as good as you'd expect. Writing this review has been difficult simply because I've been itching to strap on my Pipboy, get back to the wasteland and do a bit more exploring – there's nothing quite like it. I think you'll feel the same. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Does it seem like the glitches aren't platform specific?
|
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Any impressions on the new "shootery" aspect of the action gameplay in comparison to the old game?
I read that, while it's not not exactly Call of Duty, the shooting aspect is more action-oriented and twitch responsive than it was in the last game. True? |

I really enjoyed Fallout 3, but did get tired of it just because the environments just looked the same everywhere you went. Same colors, textures etc. I am just amazed they didnt upgrade the visuals for this game. |
