I don't think I've ever heard someone be so out of breath before from simply talking.

Maybe he ran downstairs after being woken up by the doorbell. That explains his lack of clothing.

I got my CE today, too, and it's cool. When I return the game to K-Mart, some lucky person that buys it will find the Amazon Tribal pack code inside

Oh and I was in Primm at the Vicki and Vance casino and

I was cracking up over the whole "better than Bonnie and Clyde" thing. "If he had fired his gun, he may have killed 50 people! Even more if he had extra ammo, and took his time to aim"

I took my kids on a two day mini-vacation, so after putting in over 20 hours already, I don't get to play again until Friday night...ugh!!! I sit here by a hotel pool watching my kids have a blast while their father has withdrawals.

I tried again, and I just could NOT get into it. Everything about the game just feels like boring, monotonous busy work. Fallout 3 did not feel like this!

I can kind of see where you are coming from. Maybe it's because I haven't been to New Vegas yet, but none of the locations in this game have really "wowed" me yet. I mean I found a Coyote Den, and it had two cubs and a Mother coyote. Big deal. A hidden storage area had a radiation suit and some ammo. So what. The Nevada Highway Patrol was all of four rooms. Yawn.

There hasn't been the big buildings like Fallout 3. I mean there, everywhere you walked there was a huge building or cave to explore. The Nuka Cola Factory, the Corvega factory, the Valut Tech HQ, A robot factory, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game, but yeah it doesn't grab you like Fallout 3 did. I disagree that it's boring though.

Oh and this game is fucking hard! I started on normal because I usually avoid easy modes in games, and damn!

I switched to easy thinking it would be a cakewak, but it's better then getting my ass kicked. Well, the Giant Radscorpions, the Super Mutant Masters, and Young Deathclaws (yeah, I said young!) have torn me apart and swatted away bullets like Superman. I am currently level 9.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

A big sign that I wasn't having fun: Right after completing a mission and leveling up, I just died for no apparent reason (maybe from untreated wounds - I didn't bother to check), and when it restarted me at a previous save, I had ZERO desire to replay just the previous 10 minutes - I'd rather watch paint dry.

You might have been poisoned. Were you attacked by Radscorpions?

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

if you plan on giving up do it now...but if you want to give it a chance, my advice is stick with the main quest till you find yourself in vegas...if at that point you don't like it, give up...

I'm gonna at least do that. But my main issue is that I had none of these problems with Fallout 3 (not to mention, Oblivion was one of my favorite games ever), and yet people seem to be enjoying this one better right off the bat.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

Just got to the Vegas strip after 30 hours of play involving lots of sidequests and exploration. Loving the game!

But I'm also feeling slightly overwhelmed now at the number of different choices and options for paths to take. I feel like I need a chart for all the possible decisions and what the consequences or outcomes will be. It's far, far more complex than Fallout 3, with a lot more variation than simply a "good" option and an "evil" option.

Agree that this game is significantly more difficult than FO3 as well. I'm playing on Easy and I've died countless times. I'm liking all the surprises in enemy types though, such as the gecko variations.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

Well... I think I've hit a major glitch that won't allow me to progress.

Pre-spoiler info: I've entered New Vegas and know who has my platinum coin...
Spoiler:
Made it to the Cove, where I'm chasing after the guy with the platinum coin and there's a bunch of Legioners. Killed them all, since they attacked me. Including Caesar. Freed the three slaves.
Then, I'm supposed to take the raft/boat to the Fort. Did that, but then the little indicator arrows are telling me to go back to the Cove. When I get back to the Cove, I'm being led back to the Fort again. It's an endless cycle.

Even worse, I tried going INTO the actual Fort anyway, and the game appeared to freeze. I held down the XBOX button on the controller, and heard the normal sound and the "shut down system / shut down controller / cancel" screen came up. I cancelled, and was suddenly inside the Fort. Great.. but I still can't find the dude with my platinum coin. After walking around for about a minute, suddenly everyone decides to attack me, even if I'm wearing their armor, and had no problem talking with them only a few seconds before.

Anyone else at this point in the game? Am I just doing something really wrong??

I tried to get into Oblivion three different times, and I never could.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

The fact these games are insanely long prevents me from really getting into them. Sucks though, I really wanted to play through Oblivion (got about 12 hours into it and moved on), Fallout 3, and New Vegas.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

This game, like all Bethesda games, seems to have issues that gradually creep in the longer your current play session is. Restarting the system helps a lot, as does clearing out some (but not all!) of your save file backlog.

I noticed some significant slowdown in loading screens, VATS initialization, etc. and I cleared out about 15 of my 50 or so save files. It made a noticeable difference.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

Put in another 3 hours last night..found my first bug that prevented game play. ED-E got stuck in the rocks above the road ont he way from nipton to novac. He was just sitting there..I did every thing..fast travel..etc etc..nothing worked..thankfully I save every 10-15 minutes so i didn't lose much.

Also this morning, I was trying to go into skydiving place..and on my xbox..I just got a black screen..so my first crash. Didn't bug me..because again I save every 10-15 minutes.

So I finally have ED-E and Boone, now I am just going around and curb stomping radscorpians that kicked my ass just a level earlier.

Boone's mission
Spoiler:

Was hardcore, I grabbed that jeannie may chick was just walking along..I thought there would be some sort of acknowledgement..nope..she just walked and her head blew up lol

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

I was walking along to Novac yesterday..and a group of legionares attacked a travelling mercernay trader band. I was going to help the Trader band..but I wanted to see how it played out..eventually the 2 merc traders were killed..and 2 of the 3 legionares were killed.

You can guess what I did next

He's in the delivery store in Primm. You have to repair him either with high repair (50s?), high science (60-ish?) or with parts (3 scrap metal, 2 sensors and spare electronics).

I remember coming across battles like that in Fallout 2. I would feel slightly guilty, but you can't be helpful all the time, right?
