The Godfather II (X360/PS3/PC)
Anybody else have an interest in the game? I was a huge fan of the first, mostly because i'm such a big Godfather fan in general. I've been waiting for this game for months, after all the delays and such.
Anybody else planning on picking this up?

I liked the first but my main complaint was the taking over of the warehouse missions. They became tiring and monotonous after the second or third one. I hope that this game improves on the first and gets rid of the repetitive sequences.

I loved the first one, and agreed on the warehouse missions. It'll be interesting to see the Don's View and the RTS-type stuff they've added.

I liked the first one a lot. I think it got bit of a bad rap review-wise. Will definitely check out The Godfather Part II... wished they could've gotten Al Pacino's voice and likeness.

I too was surprised over the sub-par reviews. As a big fan of the series I couldn't have really asked for anything more on a first attempt.

Re: The Godfather II (X360/PS3/PC)
I played about 6 hours of the game. So far, it's graphically nicer than the 1st, but exactly as repetitive. All you do are the same 3 side missions (kill someone, rough them up, smash a shop) to gain a location of a "made man". Then you kill the made man and repeat until you kill the Don. Repeat for each family. Taking over businesses only gets you cash and bonus items, but the other family constantly take them back so it's a waste of time. I'm just killing all the family's first (which is very easy) then taking everything over once they are all dead.

From IGN:
8.0 Presentation
While some of the creative license taken with the game falls flat, this is a solid take on the events of the second film, with your character taking part in key movie sequences.
7.5 Graphics
While animation, environmental feel and cutscenes look rather good, there are a lot of glitches and visual issues that hold the gameplay back.
8.5 Sound
Dialogue is very well done, and is definitely for mature audiences. Sound effects are solid as well, but the music is forgettable.
7.5 Gameplay
The mix of action and strategy is intriguing and works well, but ultimately it's too easy to dominate your opponents with common sense, planning and decent aim.
7.5 Lasting Appeal
The class specific multiplayer modes are fun, as is Don's Control, but you don't actually need to use multiplayer to improve henchmen for single player, because they're strong enough by default.
7.7
Good OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

I passed on it before seeing the review. It was at Best Buy this morning. I might get it when it's $40 or so.

I really think this game is sort of getting a bad rap. I just finished it, and I have to say what a fun game. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but most of the complaints, while valid, are not deal breakers. The repetition that shows up in the game comes mostly from chasing the 1000 achievement points. It is a little to easy, and a difficulty setting would have been nice, but I still had a lot of fun. A solid 8.0 out of 10.

Re: The Godfather II (X360/PS3/PC)
I had so much fun playing the Wii version of the first Godfather game that I basically lost all interest in this game when they didn't release a Wii version. I guess I'll get it eventually for the 360 or PC.

The Don's view and the fixed combat from the first game makes this a better game than Godfather 1.
