Re: Fight Night Round 4

I'll probably pass on this one as well. I never bought Round 3, but it was fun to play. Maybe when this hits $40 or so.

Re: Fight Night Round 4

I tried the demo out and it wasn't bad, i found it really fast paced but the presentation was awesome. I played 3 fights that went all 3 rounds and lost them all but the scores were pretty close.

I was thinking of getting this game too but i think i will wait til it drops in price especially since majority PS3/360 games cost $70 + tax now. I still enjoy Round 3 so i'm going to stick with that for my boxing fix.

Re: Fight Night Round 4

so I was the only one with a defective demo? When I try to play it freezes my Xbox and I have to do a manual restart of the console! I read in Joystiq that some people is having the same issue but it seems it isn't a widespread issue. Hmm I'll have to try again today.

I had this problem last night. Deleted and download the demo like 4 times. I finally downloaded it one last time and turned the system off. Tried it again this morning and at first it looked like it was going to freeze on me, but it finally worked.

The demo is not worth all that effort.

After playing the demo, this is exactly how I would describe it. FNR 3 was fun, this one not so much. I wont be buying it.

$5 off (and free shipping) Fight Night 4 (Xbox 360 or PS3) when you order a pizza from Pizza Hut online:

http://www.eastore.com/PizzaHut/

It will give you a code.

I just ordered a Pizzone, and thought I'd toss out the (unique) code for y'all: 34beoht9v

Post when you've used it.

Re: Fight Night Round 4

Good game...and it is a shame that it actually could be perfect if they had someone that understood the fight game on their staff.

Each punch should have different ratings. Take Lennox, whose straight right was deadly, but it is by far the weakest punch in the game. Too much emphasis is put on hooks and uppercuts.

I am also a little disappointed in the ring movement. I am going to mess with the speed slider and see if that helps.

Good game, could be great via patches.

thelwig, any truth to the rumor that you could punch via the face buttons?

Nope, it is going to have to get patched.

I prefer buttons only because I think it is actually more realistic with buttons. I hope it gets patched and considering the outcry already (and statements made by the FN team), I think it will be patched.

Re: Fight Night Round 4

got my copy today. I'm one of those who is terrible at using the sticks to punch, so I am sorely missing the punch buttons.

Re: Fight Night Round 4

Using the sticks is just too hit & miss (no pun intended). If I want to throw a straight or jab, it should respond as such.

Re: Fight Night Round 4

Starting to really enjoy this one. Bumping the boxer speed slider up and going to the wide camera angle are absolute musts in my opinion.

Re: Fight Night Round 4

So far I am enjoying it even if I dont like the controls. I'm also not a big fan on the over-emphasis on countering, but EA seems to love it. Just seems a little too powerful - I'm whipping a guy's ass all across the ring and he counters once, and I'm stunned? Sure it can happen, but not every fight.

I did enjoy winning a fight due to a nasty cut under my opponent's eye - I was behind a little on points, so that was very cool when it happened!

I am a HUGE boxing fan so I am a little biased (or maybe too negative), but I am really enjoying this...

A few things I would love to see patched, but out of the gates, this is really solid for a first engine.

I got mine via the crazy EA cards deal a couple weeks ago.

All I know of is a $10 coupon from Best Buy rewards.

I assume some used copies will show up quickly because of the lack of buttons.

i will not buy this game -- i hate playing with the analog stick. there is no excuse not having button punches available.

Re: Fight Night Round 4

If it's like Round 3, one of the configurations should allow you to throw hooks and straights with the face buttons. The R2 button will activate the signature punch. You still need to use the right stick for uppercuts and haymakers.

Re: Fight Night Round 4

Damn. Well, another reason I'm glad I stuck with Round 3 for my boxing fix. The face buttons come in handy when I wanna make fast hook combos. The stick I only use for jabs, uppercuts, and haymakers.
