How long usually does it take for play-asia orders to arrive with standard shipping? I ordered last night, my order shipped this morning and I live in Oklahoma (of course). What kind of wait should I expect? Thanks!

Does anyone here know of a good 3rd party controller for the PS3 that apes the 360's controller design?

I know this is the PS3 thread, but I can't wait to start playing this on mine.

If anyone else has an extra PA coupon I'd be grateful.

Although the internet connection test utility passed every step, I've been having issues signing in all week: DNS errors.
In case anybody else is in the same boat, this finally fixed it: http://boardsus.playstation.com/play...cending&page=1 |
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Well, I tried Aquanauts and... I think it's not my kind of game. I was looking for something different, to rest between plays of Halo, Gears 2, Fallout 3 and all of those violent games I play every day. But I just couldn't make it. I got really bored playing it for a little more than one hour. Controls were not the best, I tried a couple of settings, but that was not my major dislike. But it's me, not the game, I think so. We were just not supposed to be.
I still need to try Afrika, and yeah I'll give Aquanauts at least another couple of tries. In the meantime back to porn when I want to relax between violent games. ;) |

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
I played with it for a night(a friend bought it). It's super comfy and works great. The triggers are still more like bumpers than actual triggers but they are a slight improvement over the stock PS3 controller. The sticks are also still convex which is a disappointment. I mean if you're going to mimic the 360 pad, go all out. So the only real difference is analog placement. I do like the material that the controller is made out of, it is super soft and feels great.
Also you lose motion control so you are screwed in games that require it. |
Officially annoyed with the PS3 (firmware 2.70 related)
I guess I just expect too much from consumer electronics these days. After enduring difficulties of increasing frequency with the XBox360, I made the switch to the PS3. I appreciated the increased multimedia functionality provided by the PS3. It became the hub of my home entertainment center.... music, photos, videos, games, all in one nice package. 15 months of trouble-free use.
Then comes firmware 2.70... and along with it a few bugs, most notably a crippling bug that causes the system to take 10-20 seconds to recognize a .vob file on an external USB drive. Multiply that by the number of files in a folder and the time to populate the directory listing can run to 10, 20 or more minutes. Ok. Bugs happen. But the inability to back off a firmware update just makes a difficult situation impossible. It is nearly 2 months since that firmware was released and no acknowledgment by Sony of the bugs. I finally learned the lesson... game consoles are strictly for gaming. No matter what capabilities a console may possess, it is still a game system. Obvious to most I'm sure.... I'm a bit dense. :) |

I have a xbox controller where the left stick "sticks" and could maybe fuck with it some. Where are these tutorials that you speak of? |

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
It seems really involved, so I've never had enough desire to do it myself. Plus you're gutting a 360 controller and a DS3/Sixaxis to do it, so it's a pretty costly mod. But if someone here feels like perfecting the process you already have three potential orders :D

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Am I the only person here who DOESN"T really have a problem with the DS3? I mean I like the 360's more, but I never have any major problems with the DS3 (except maybe for motion control). It feels pretty comfortable in my small, girlish hands and after a brief period of adjustment, even FPS feel fine for me on it. Perhaps since I mostly played the Ps1 and then PS2 in the last two generations, I'm very used to this controller by now.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
My problem with the PS3 is the YLOD issue and the fact that it is inevitable in your system if you have a 60gb system or any of the other models. My biggest issue is the 150+ dollar raping that Sony gives you and their bootsie 90 day warranty on their repaired/refurbed systems.

;) I played through Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty last weekend and Ratchet would crouch at random... meaning was resting my finger on the trigger to hard. -ohbfrank- Minor, I know, but still frustrating. |

First it was the 40 and 80 gig units with disc read errors and now the owners of the 60GB ones are getting this left and right. The official forum has a large number of people that are getting hit with it almost like the PS3 has a built in feature to break around the 2 year anniversary. Mine has started freezing up completely and I'm expecting the worst any day now. This HD console generation just wasn't well designed to deal with the tremendous heat those CPUs and GPUs produce. |

I have a used MGS bundle 80gb model. Is it susceptible? |
