Is there anything I should actually keep my PS3 for at this point?

Flower
LittleBigPlanet
Uncharted
Ratchet
Warhawk
InFamous
Ico team's next project

...and all things being equal, I'd prefer to have multiconsole games (Burnout, Rock Band, GTA4, etc.) for a console that has a chance of actually working in 5 years.

I think the real question is why own a 360 other than 1) it's cheaper and 2) Valve?

LittleBigPlanet -> Garbage platformer.

Ratchet -> Nice, but EXACTLY the same as the previous three.
Warhawk -> No.
InFamous -> Crackdown 2 @ E3
Ico team's next project -> You got me here. :(

Comments bolded.

You must not have ever owned a PS1 or PS2, both famously reliable hardware.

Actually, Pixy, that was a knock on the 360 - not the PS3.

I've never had a problem with the Playstation Network. I know it often gets a bad wrap, but I've never had trouble finding games, playing online or updating my system. Sure the updates can take some time (especially during peak hours) but that's really a minor issue considering that we don't have to pay for it. Walk away. Make a cup of coffee. Whatever. It updates and shuts down on its own.

I don't want to push this farther down the road of a 360 vs PS3 thunderdome, but like others have said... if you don't need to sell your PS3, why would you want to? I've never sold a console system and not regretted it at some point down the road.

I think he's just making comments in spite. I also haven't turned on my PS3 in quite some time, the allure of gaming on the machine just isn't there right now for some of us (I use my 360 a lot, but mostly for Gears 2, Peggle, Call of Duty 5 (I really don't care for the PS3 pad in FPS games), and Lode Runner (which is so ridiculously addictive all over again.))

I am looking forward to Uncharted 2 and InFamous. Though much like Pixy, I was also not so happy with Ratchet and Clank Future, LittleBigPlanet, WarHawk and the PixelJunk games (as well as Resistance 1 and Killzone 2, didn't try Res 2 yet. And while I don't care for the PS3 pad so much in FPS games, I still tolerate it)

That said, I'm perfectly content in keeping my PS3. It's one of the 60gb models that I got well under $400 refurbished a while back. I like the capabilities it has but wish Sony would just own up and give the final push to making it a media center for everybody (NTFS/EXT3 on external drives, dammit.).

No, it's not really spite. Well, maybe a little. ;)

I'm just thinking that I can unload it for a good price now since it's a full BC model and in a year or two, if/when the system is $200 I can pick up another one for anything that comes out I want to play.. besides FFvXIII which I will force a friend of mine to give me their system for a few weeks.

I saw a copy of The Club at Blockbuster for $10. Any opinions from people that own or have played the game? Thanks

I bought my PS1 the day it came out back in 1995 and to this day it continues to work flawlessly.

I bought my PS2 in October 2001 and to this day it continues to work flawlessly.

I bought my 40gb PS3 in June 2008. So far it has survived every disc put into it, every software update, every downloaded game, HOME and its updates and many hours of online play.

My cousin recently bought his 3rd 360 (new gen w/HDMI) after having the first 2 (older models) fixed under warranty numerous times. He loves XBL but has sworn if this one dies hes buying a PS3.

I fart in your general direction :p

Why is it that about every month or so someone has to come in this thread and try to shit on the PS3? I've had one of mine break but I'm still using the PS3 for my gaming pleasure.

Yeah, sarcasm fail because your point fail. My PS1 (bought after it's first price-drop) worked flawlessly until I gave it away when the PS2 came out. And the PS2 I bought on launch day still works perfectly. I personally don't know anyone who had hardware problems with either console.

Well, unless you mean it's a platformer where you jump over a bunch of things including garbage, in which case you're 100% accurate.

You don't know anyone that had the infamous "turn the Playstation upside down to play games" problem? Or the "PS2 stops playing cd-based games unless you tweak the laser" problem?

I've had both.

I've never known anyone with a PS1 problem.

I've seen 2 PS2s with laser alignment problems. They were both dropped by careless pre-teen players. I fixed both myself.

I've had both.

I had both as well. I had the disc read issue on 3 PS2s and I had a controller port issue on my first slim PS2. The PS3 and PSP though have been flawless for me so far.

As far as keeping the PS3, I could never part with mine. I could sell the Xbox 360 though in a heartbeat. I own it mainly for XBLA and have played through most of those I wanted to.

Now that is a AAAA title. This is what gaming is all about and they hit it right on the head. I can't wait to get my hands on that game and I hope that they continue that franchise in the future.

I also had tons of problems with my PSX, none with my PS2, none with my PS3, and none with the two 360's I have owned so far. So, either side calling the other unreliable is laughable.

I actually just fired up Uncharted for the first time ever the other night, and I didn't play the demo. Wow. Talk about having a game exceed expectations that were sky high already. I am in love with this game.

Yeah, the first one was a lot of fun. From the videos I've seen the new one seems to continue that. And of course graphics look really great.

That's good to hear since most of the knocks on the game had to do with the environment textures.

I've done the tutorial on Aquanaut. Aside from the terrible dialogue/translation and the ridiculous com-faces that are supposed to represent the tone of the person at the other end of the radio :lol: (basically happy, stern or befuddled), I really enjoyed what little I got to do underwater. The underwater visuals aren't perfect but they have significant depth and the game has a more interesting story (if completely improbable) than I'd anticipated.

I'm not as demanding as everyone else. It's in HD, it's gorgeous and the animals look and move great. If you run towards them they take off running and their reactions look just like they would on a Discovery Channel special.

I already can't wait to get a better camera.

I'm looking forward to Aquanaut as well. I wanted to like Endless Ocean so much, but the visuals were crippling to me.

Glad you're enjoying it L&O!

The story goes just a bit off the rails late in the game, but the presentation is solid throughout (just want to keep you expectations at a reasonable level).

I recommend learning the melee combat as it adds a lot to the experience. I tend to want to hang back and snipe, so my first runthrough was a bit repetitive.
