Private matches aren't as much of a necessity when the game's, generally, pretty balanced. The douchenozzle factor is really limited in the Conquest maps. It's just a different game. You can get your private fix elsewhere. I just spent 2 hours with the Vietnam maps and that shit is intense. Some of the level designs really require some tactical cooperation, much more so than the standard multi maps.

Also, frizby, I was taking my share of dog tags in Vietnam. You'll have a field day.

Conquest, the mode I play most is 12v12, so 3 teams. We'd have to do some of it manually, but yes. It would be fairly easy to get a 4-man squad in a game and then build a second squad in the same game.

The beauty of their system is that you can bring as few as 2-3 players and still have a good time as a squad in a thoroughly epic 24 player game.

How many players have you convinced to pick this up, Chess?
Gonzo
Sean
Ktown
Hunter
Chew
Flip (already had it)
Digi (already had it)
Me

I've also sent friend invites to a couple of cool randoms that I've played with, and they're pretty likely to be on and jump in whatever game I'm in.

It is. It very much has a coop vibe to it...so our less cooperative folks might not enjoy it quite as much. ;)

Yes. Warhawk and CoD (assuming you can even stand to play CoD after blowing shit up in BC2)

I still haven't checked them out, but I like what I'm hearing about them (small to medium sized with lots of cover).

It would be freaking awesome to set up a Warhawk/CoD-like dedicated map for our group in this game, but we don't have enough people to make it work. 5v5 would likely be boring on maps this big. And even a cursory look at the technology going down in this game makes the server limitation understandable...and as Flip said, you really don't miss it.

It's just different and hardly a fail.

Right about when mine died last year...sorry. The $100 Amazon deal was amazing too IMO.

If it's a 20, 60 or BC 80, Sony will swap it out for a Slim for about $180 after tax and shipping and turnaround in Texas is super fast since they're based here.

It is possible, but it can be a pain in the ass if the games are full the party system is friendly for squads but unfriendly for larger groups.

I have to disagree. While BC2 is geared towards being teamworky, A lone wolf douchebag can entertain themselves by destroying buildings, comandeering vehicles and teamkilling ( Yes Slider, there is teamkilling, and it is glorious) There is no limit to the epic mischief a silent CoD teamkilling douchnugget can do.

Yes. Warhawk and CoD (assuming you can even stand to play CoD after blowing shit up in BC2)
Yes you can go back to CoD. I'll explain in a minute.

I still haven't checked them out, but I like what I'm hearing about them (small to medium sized with lots of cover).
I've heard lots of good things about them .

Only thing more satisfying than collecting dogtags is bringing a building down on the heads of your enemies and frienemies.

BC2 is a different game than CoD. The destruction and feeling of power when raining doom from vehicles is awesome. The sound and accuracy of the weapons is excellent and the controls are excellent - though not as responsive as in CoD. ( CoD controls respond a little faster than BC2 ) The rewards fro ribbons and XP and leveling up is good. One of my gripes about the game is the fact that the party system can be a pain for larger groups. My Biggest gripe is that when you come across a dead enemy and pick up their weapon, your class changes to whatever that weapon goes with. When you are playing as a recon(sniper) and you come across a submachine gun, instead of being a sniper who is now carrying a SNG - your class changes to whatever your SMG class is decked out with. Total Bullshit, IMHO. The 3rd issue I have is no prone. These three things aren't gamebreaking though. I think it is a great game and I might pick it up to douche it up.

@ Slider - I think you would enjoy it.

Keeping things off topic..... ;)

Is last week's session of BC2 a full example of what the multiplayer is like? Take this base, go to this other base? What other modes are there?

The mode we were playing (Conquest) is my favorite mode because it plays to the strengths of Battlefield and minimizes the effectiveness of snipers and helicopters. Basically, it doesn't reward people for camping.

But there is also Squad Rush, with two teams of 4, where one team defends a set of objectives while the other tries to take it. I figure we could tackle that when 4 of us are ready to compete as a team. And, of course, there's the usual Team Death kind of stuff. Finally, if you got the Ultimate Edition, you have access to "Onslaught", which is 4-player co-op against the AI horde.

And then there's the Vietnam maps which alter the dynamics of all the modes because it's a big ol' clusterfuck of close-combat douchebaggery.

Conquest is by far the best mode to play.

I hate campers but I take offense by implying that all snipers are campers. The way I played as a recon in BC2 was to pick a spot, Spot some guys for my team, deploy a motion sensor, Snipe out a couple of guys (usually looking for other snipers but mainly taking out any noob who happens make their way down the middle of the map), drop an artillery strike/C4 and move to another spot/ move forward. Rinse and repeat.

I switched my ISP from Road Runner to ATT Uverse last Monday: better speeds, same price.

Most of the time my Road Runner was 7mb/0.5mb and I could host 8 people in Warhawk. For a short time, RR bumped me up to 7mb/1.0mb and I could host 20.

My Uverse is 12mb/1.5mb and Warhawk tells me I can only host 16?

Huh? :whofart:

Of course, IIRC, we've never gone over 16 on at the same time anyway.

We hit 17 once, but I'd say you're in pretty good shape. I remember when I thought 8 was sufficient.

Good night in BC2 with KTown, Sean and Lee.

Tuesday. Bitches.

I've been playing BC2 all morning, so I'm sure I'll be a wreck early on. Last week, I was reflexively trying to pull up my sights only to poop out a grenade and get myself killed...not to mention trying to get in and out of vehicles with the circle button. -ohbfrank-

Requests for tonight?

I don't think it's possible on Infected, and there are too many repair gears on Supply Chain and Acropolis Assault. Maybe Eucadia.
