I am ecstatic that it's a pre-Sammy VH!!! Still, just a day-1 rental for me, Fuck You GH for non-importing games, I'll never buy another one of your games for over $20.

They already passed the tipping point. SH was released on June 16 and never hit the top 20 in chart sales according to VGASales.

People just do not have the extra cash to meet the demanding release schedule of GH titles that Activision pushes. Plus the fact that WT was over hyped and under performing, I don't think people are going to continue to shell out the doh'.

At the end of this year we will know for sure if GH series has any more life left in it.

The problem is that whoever licensed the FF tracks screwed up royally as far as the fans are concerned. Their songs are all over the place and there isn't one sole platform you can access their list of hits from.

Frankly I'm getting tired of it. Either be exclusive to one title or release everything to both, but this having some songs there and some over there, and a few for you, oh and you can have this one on this game but not this one is really getting tedious.

Re: Activision Preparing "Guitar Hero: Van Halen"

I'm so happy to see "Best of You" and "Double Vision" in the other artists category. I'm fine with it only being David Lee Roth-era songs. I just wish there were a handful more of them.

Also, not that I am necessarily complaining or anything, but most of the "other artist" songs here seem like "oh hey we aren't putting these in GH5 or anything else so let's just toss 'em in this game" rather than actual stuff that VH requested. Seems like an attempt to pander to a more mainstream buyer-quite the contrast from the Metallica and Aerosmith releases.

I was all excited about Smash Hits myself, but 48 tracks for $60 is just too much. World Tour had 86 songs and a entire new game engine for that price. If there were 60 songs at $40, the game would have sold very well, and if the tracks were able to be imported, it would have sold even better.

Leaving out Hagar in GH:VH is a misstep of hope-somebody-loses-their-job proportion. When someone first suggested the idea, they should have embraced their entire careers, recreating early tours with DLR and then 80s venues with Hagar. Throw in some Montrose and Solo Hagar for Sammy fans, and some solo DLR for Roth fans, and you have yourself a game people can look forward to.

Again, I love the game being all DLR-VH, but, having a 'complete' game with 80+ songs, which is what it should be for the price, would've been awesome covering Sammy, Dave, Dave-VH, and Sammy-VH. Instead, like Aero/Metallica/Smash, we get GH-Lite with a mid-amount of songs for a full-game price. If these games came out at $40 they'd sell like mad. If they do a KISS game, it should go from 1973's self-titled album through Psycho Circus...80+ songs.

I agree 100%. I was not a huge Van Hagar fan, but there's no way those songs should have been completely omitted. It ignores a very large portion of VH existance as a band.

Re: Activision Preparing "Guitar Hero: Van Halen"

I seriously doubt that Activision/Neversoft/Whoever wanted to omit SH or Michael Anthony. It smells more like sour grapes on VH's, SH's, and/or MA's side to me.

Re: Activision Preparing "Guitar Hero: Van Halen"

I doubt Neversoft had anything to do with the omissions, that has Eddie written all over it. Eddie dicked over Sammy at least twice already, what's one more?

Its a scheme to get people to buy it even if they don't like VH. Plus they have to include a FF song on every disc it seems now by default.

This is the way ACT handles what they consider 'DLC' (Disc Laden Content). You get to purchase what is really a themed track pack, and they download $60.00 out of your wallet.

Re: Activision Preparing "Guitar Hero: Van Halen"

I wonder how the story portion will play out/ You play the Roth era then a 20 year hiatus for a reunion?

I can see the cut scenes now...we were bored after not doing anything for 20 years, so we wanted to reunite!

That wouldn't even begin to explain the bass situation...Wolfgang wasn't even a sperm in his daddy's sack yet when they were with DLR the first time around!!

I'm well aware of that, but both the Aerosmith and Metallica games had "bonus" tracks that seemed much more in line with something the bands themselves would hand pick for inclusion. They seem all over the map this time. Again, I'm not really complaining about it. Some of those choices just struck me as odd.

Fuck the last set of this game, bitch!! Kiss my white ass, Eddie.

Trying to beat the last set on expert is like trying to reach through a garbage disposal to get a million dollars, you keep trying, but there's just no way in Hell it's gonna happen.
