When I did the transfer from the 20 to the 120 GB hard drive, I didn't do anything special after that. If you need any license the game should be able to download it itself when you play it.

I think that's why the hard drives are deleted in the process, to be sure you don't have 2 copies of the same game in different drives, for the ones that have a license.

I think the license transfers are only if you switch Xbox consoles, not hard drives, right?

Yes. I bought a 120GB HDD for my 360 around New Year's, and everything went fine. Several weeks later, my 360 crapped out. I had to do all the license transfer business with my replacement unit.

Anyone been having trouble streaming Netflix? I've tried to use it several times over the last two hours and when I select Netflix from the menu to launch, the screen just goes blank and I eventually have to manually turn the system off. I tried deleting and redownloading the Netflix software and that didn't fix it.

Is anyone buying the Resident Evil Limited Edition Red 360 console? I'm not a fan of the game but I really like how the red looks and I'm looking to get an HDMI console. Worth it? Will this end up becoming very rare and I'll end up regretting it down the road?

I pre-ordered one. I know I will want one and kick myself if I don't get one. I have no intentions of buying one used down the road, so I figured I'd grab one now. I doubt they'll hold much value, especially given the 360's wonderful performance rep.

I pre-ordered one, if you are in the market for a 360, it is a good deal. Same price as the regular elite but comes with RE5 and 1200 XBLA game (Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix). Plus, Major Nelson has "confirmed" that it is a Jasper. Now I can trade in my back-up one as it is one month from being out of warranty (3/06). ($105 w/ wireless controller w/o hard drive)

Worked fine for me last night.

Seriously. One way it takes forever to load the backgrounds, the other way it takes forever to load the gamerpics and statuses. I think the guide list is slightly faster, but I haven't really done any real testing, I use it because it's easier to see more people quickly. I think the advantage to the NXE way is that you can see who they're playing with (which also might increase the loading time).

5) -- She is throwing in 20 GB HARD DRIVE...it will have 13 GB space, as long as you don't install games to the hard drive, you will be fine. You will probably want to upgrade to 60 or 120 gb eventually. Most arcade games are under 250 mb (most under 50 mb)...figure 25-30 mb per song on Rock Band. Demos are ~ 1GB, some DLC can be up to 1GB (Burnout Paradise is 800+mb)

Left 4 Dead can be sold for $30 - $45 on craigslist/ebay

Thanks! That's very helpful. She's going to find out the manufacturing date for me after work today. She said it has HDMI.

Are the Falcon models all that bad?

I would personally do something like that before buying a used one with 20gb hard drive for $130. Sounds like from Dell a lot of people get the newest models, they'll all be HDMI, and you get a full warranty.

I've been lurking through this thread for a while and several pages back someone mentioned they got that deal. I was pretty excited, but when I went to Dell's site immediately after reading that post they didn't even have the Pro unit listed. :(

My head says I should wait for something like this to come along - heck, I've waited this long. But then that damn instant gratification itch comes along...

Also, I figure I could view this used one as a "starter console" if it konks out on me. I honestly have no desire to play/own "Kung Fu Panda" and paying only $130 would free up some money to buy an HDMI cable, network adapter, a game, etc.

But that's just me rationalizing. :)

Wondering how many of you use the wireless network card outside of home. Say you travel to a friend's or out of town and take the box with you to a relatives or something or even hooking it up to a hotel's wifi.

Anyone experience problems? I'm looking to pick up the adapter from a CC. Figured 30 - 40% off is manageable.

I own a Falcon (just traded my Zephyr and buying a Jasper) and it works great. With that being said, my nephew just got the RROD on his Falcon, but the 3 year warranty takes care of that. If this one has HDMI, then it is at least mid to late 2007, so it should have plenty of warranty left.

Buy an hdmi cable for ~$5 at monoprice.com.

Good to hear. My friend said the Xbox is fairly new (a Gamestop customer of hers bought it, later traded it in, and then she bought it).

I just bought an HDMI cable from an Amazon Marketplace seller for about $4.50 shipped. My roommate bought the same one a month or so ago for his DVD player and it works fine. Why the hell would anyone pay Monster Cable prices? That's crazy.

Consumerist: Self-identified lesbian banned from Xbox Live
by Richard Mitchell { Feb 26th 2009 at 3:06PM }

The Consumerist reports that an Xbox Live user identified only as Teresa was supposedly banned from Xbox Live for identifying herself as a lesbian. Teresa said that she identified her sexual orientation in her profile, which resulted in harassment from other players on Xbox Live. She stated that even after she left such Xbox Live sessions, users would follow her into other games and tell others to report her "because they didn't want to see that crap or their kids to see that crap."

Teresa says that her account was later suspended because other gamers found her profile "offensive." Microsoft has informed Joystiq that it hopes Teresa will come forward, so that the company can investigate the matter directly.

In a statement to Joystiq, Microsoft noted that users may not "create a gamertag or use text in other profile fields that include comments that look, sound like, stand for, hint at, abbreviate, or insinuate content of a potentially sexual nature. Profiles that do are asked to change the language and suspended until changes are made." The company also stated that it does not allow Gamertags or profiles to identify any form of sexual orientation, though it is allowed in voice chat "where context is more easily explained to all players involved." Finally, Microsoft stated that harassment is "not condoned" and "taken very seriously."

Find the full statement after the break.

Microsoft:

"As stated in the Xbox Live Terms of Use, a member may not create a gamertag or use text in other profile fields that include comments that look, sound like, stand for, hint at, abbreviate, or insinuate content of a potentially sexual nature. Profiles that do are asked to change the language and suspended until changes are made. In regards to sexual orientation, for gamertags or profiles we do not allow expression of any type of orientation, be that hetero or other. Players can, however, self identify in voice communication where context is more easily explained to all players involved.

"Harassment of any kind is not condoned and is taken very seriously; we strongly encourage Xbox Live members to immediately report inappropriate behavior through the compliant tools in the service so that it can be investigated and the appropriate action taken."

"The Xbox Live community grows daily, and we continue to explore methods and levels of enforcement to enhance the ways our members connect and have fun, while adhering to a code of conduct that encourages respect and keeps the service safe and fun for all our members."
I was originally going to say "why should it matter if she labels herself a lesbian or not?", but now I see why it is a bad idea.

Chris

I LOVE this considering gamertag BCB6T9 is the current Gamer Spotlight on Xbox.com.

I'm sure that's nothing sexual.

...in other words, she kicked my ass in a game and "muff rubbed"(female teabagging) me several times so she must be punished.

But seriously, hearing what I hear on LIVE on some days I wonder if any parent has a leg to stand on as far as protecting their kids. Well, unless they let them only play with Friends or with the chat volume down.

TO SEE WHAT? A WORD? A FUCKING WORD?! ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?!?!

Considering most Xbox games are about murdering other humans, this disgusts me in ways I can't even describe.
