Connected to XBL for the first time in over a year, was prompted to download new software for the "new XBox experience" or something like that, and ended up with a fried console (Error 74). I hardly ever use the damn thing!

Well... (RE: Last.Fm in Xbox)

Last.fm
While we're not entirely clear who will sit around the Xbox to stream internet radio, we will admit that the Xbox implementation of Last.fm is very slick. Once again, the core functionality of the website is present in the Xbox app. However, the overall experience looks a lot nicer. While you listen to music, a photo slideshow of the band will take up the screen. It's not a particularly revolutionary feature, but it does make for a good visual complement to the otherwise stationary experience.
Like Facebook's photo galleries, the Last.fm experience is much faster on the Xbox than on a computer. Switching between different artist stations is fast. Clicking on a tag brings up a radio station specifically for that keyword almost instantly.
One obvious oversight of Last.fm currently is the inability to listen to music while playing games. Currently, Last.fm is a standalone application, with no way of launching it while in the middle of a game. A Microsoft representative did tell us they were aware of the demands to expand its functionality, so hopefully we'll see an update that addresses that. (They've got to leave something for next major Dashboard refresh ...)

I do stream music to it when I'm cleaning or just hanging out, so I'll still give it a chance, but I think my personal collection will probably win out.

I don't see myself using any of those new apps other than the Zune integration. I might use Last.FM when they fix the streaming while gaming issue.

I use Pandora and Slacker all the time on my iPod so I'm looking forward to giving Last.FM a try on the 360. And like they said, these standalone apps often function better than the websites themselves. I love Pandora on the Touch but hate using it through the web interface.

Wow that really sucks.
I suppose this means the Xbox music player won't scrobble either..
IMO this misses the whole point of adding Last.FM integration at all.

320 is damned pricey for an Avatar jersey.
Also, have they released a single piece of free clothing since they opened the Avatar Marketplace? I don't think so. MS thinks we love our Avatars way more than we really do.

Does the jersey put your Gamertag on the back? For
320 it should.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
I see the appeal of streaming to the box I don't really care because I use my touch on a dock when I'm playing games anyways so there are plenty of options with that.

No shit. Buy.com has the red one with the play and charge kit for $40 fairly frequently.
