Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
I didn't know where to "complain" so I'm doing it here.
I can't believe they are releasing Ten (Rock Band) and The Pitt (Fallout 3) at the same time. What should I play first this afternoon?
I already bought Ten, before leaving to work, but need more points to get The Pitt. I guess there are any deals right now for Xbox points, right? What's my best option? Anywhere is the same?

Dell has the RE5 Limited Edition Console package for $319 (plus tax if applicable in your state, free shipping) after 20% off coupon:
Z0WPL1J0CC3W47
I bit. Figured my release premium is better to replace than to simply buy the 120GB HD and new controller I need/want.

You shouldn't have tax on a points card either if you buy the ones that are loose and need activated since those are treated as gift cards. And as for buying points on the system itself, I know with the wii I've been charged sales tax before.

Yeah, I bought the points at Best Buy. No tax.
I think it was going to be $12 for 1000 points in the Xbox.
Edit: Duh! I did the math and it's the same price $20 for 1600 pts or $12.50 for 1000 pts.

Buying through the console doesn't cost gas or time though.

My laziness has even crept to the point where i often don't even boot up the console to buy the points but i buy them online through xbox.com and then queue up what DLC i want to buy from work.

Ok, I'm about(read: In the next 3 months) to get a 360. I've been a Playstion fan for over 12 years, and have NEVER owned an xbox of any type.
I'm wanting to grab some of the hits of the systems(both regular and 360) and was wanting some feedback on some games. The list below is what I'm currently thinking about getting.
Army of two
Assassin's Creed
Battlefield Bad Company
BioShock
BRAID
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway
COD Modern Warfare
COD World at War
Dead Rising
Dead Space
Fallout 3
Far Cry 1/2
Frontline Fuel of war
Gears of War 1/2
Half Life ORANGE BOX
Halo 1/2/3
Halo Wars
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies Edition
Mass Effect
Mirror's Edge
Ninja Gaiden 2
Portal: Still Alive
PREY
sonic's ultimate genesis (some great old school games)
Tom Clancy's EndWar
Turok
Uncharted
Any of these I should pass on? Any games i'm not aware of that I should add?

Fable II
Burnout Revenge
Ghost Recon 1 & 2
Oblivion
Rainbow 6 Vegas 1 & 2
Prince of Persia
Tomb Raider Series
I would stay away from Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway (COD2,3,or 5 can fill your WW2 shooter needs)
Also Uncharted is exclusive to the PS3

That list should keep you busy for a long long time. You should also add Rockband 2 and/or Guitar Hero World Tour. Grand Theft Auto 4 is also highly regarded.

There is no reason why a game console shouldn't be able to play almost every game that the PC supports. Of course some PC games require a 512MB video card or better and I don't know how the current XBox 360 or PS3 compare to that.
But I love strategy games like Settlers, Age of Empires, etc. and all of those types of games should be available to play on a game console with a controller that makes sense.

Blizzard in talks with Microsoft for next Xbox
Blizzard's Rob Pardo has confirmed that his company has had talks with Microsoft about the successor to the Xbox 360.
Speaking at the Luminaries Lunch today during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Pardo would only state that Blizzard is actively in discussions with Microsoft, seemingly confirming the development process of new console hardware is under way.
However, other developers at the lunch have not spoken to either Microsoft or Sony about future plans, which has raised concerns that content isn't a priority for format holders as they plan the next-generation of home machines.
"How many designers in the games industry do you think they are rounding up to [talk to], because this is going to make or break them this time around," said Acclaim's David Perry.
"I'm not aware that they are putting a big amount of effort into finding out how to make the games. The people who are actually physically going to make the games are all going to get a surprise," he added.
Warren Spector, boss of Disney's Junction Point Studios and responsible for classic titles such as Deus Ex, said that he believes format holders are too concerned with the wider entertainment market to focus on games.
"I get the impression they're focusing on owning the living room," he said. "One device that lets you watch movies, television and play games and music and all that stuff.
"They're so focused on that that I'm not even sure they're thinking about the games that are going to come out. Which is kind of crazy." he added.
Pardo said that so far there's been a good reason why Blizzard titles such as World of Warcraft haven't appeared on home consoles – the hardware hasn't been specifically designed around some genres.
"There are are so many games like we make at Blizzard that we don't take to consoles because they don't support the input device and you end up with crappy ports. That's why RTS games never do well on consoles," he said.
"If I was them, I'd be sitting around trying to figure out what's a cool input device that supports all types of new kinds of games."

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
I think I know the answer to this, but I'm going to ask anyway, just in case.
I recently got my 360 back from Microsoft and, of course, the DRM on my previous purchases isn't valid unless I'm signed in. It came with a note that all I should have to do is redownload the titles and it'll start to work. Of course it does not.
I could to the DRM transfer process myself (apparently I have 4 consoles in my history!) and move on, but since I can only do that once per year, I'm wondering if I should call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and have them do it. May be moot as I'd like to consolidate my entire 4-console history anyway...
Is calling them worth it over just doing the transfer myself?

yes you need to call them. I had to speak with 3 different CSRs before I got one who knew what I was talking about. Force THEM to do the DRM transfer. It should've been done by the repair facility.
