I don't know, guys, these charts are starting to grow on me... Do I hear $7?

I'm just kidding, of course, I'm not looking for that sort of thing. I'm just still debating because I'm not in love with anything but SoL&T.

Are those live versions going to be available for purchase through the store later? I want that alternate version of Alive.

I don't think they've said yes specifically for these, but I think Harmonix has said they'll always make "exclusive" songs available to everyone at some point. That could mean soon, or it could mean months later like the HMX 01 pack.

Over 40 million paid songs have been sold via download since Rock Band launched on November 20, 2007
Yeah, that whole DLC thing sure isn't working out for them.

THERE'S NO LUBE IN RAPE! You've been spoiled!

As for that Journey cover video above, I think the gang really find their groove in the 2:40-3:00 mark, you just have to give them a chance.

No less than any other label.

40M "paid" downloads implies its at least $40, but no more than $80. Even if they get a quarter of a track's price, that's $10-$20M for the labels doing nothing but saying "ok". Increase your presence in the library to increase your piece of the profits, guys.

It isn't like these tracks are portable to other devices or otherwise listenable w/o playing the game. I'm sure it's shit like this why we didn't get the Jukebox Mode Harmonix told us about.

After hopefully this Journey pack gets released, I wouldn't mind Harmonix taking a week off to work out the kinks in the game. Challenges limited to 100 songs, NO STARS, etc...

Looks like an officially licensed double kick pedal is coming out (edit: is out) from PDP:

More info here:
http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=126439

$24.99

I might pick it up for the dongle alone, if it will indeed work with other pedals. Twin Rocker alone is $24.99 + shipping.

Yeah, that won't be happening. For one, the people who do the charting don't also program the game. :)

I think at this point we can only hope that these things will be fixed in the eventual Rock Band 3 (2010?).

It is lazy. These things need to be fixed. And even though in theory the entire Harmonix team doesn't need to work together, it would be nice if they at least just fixed the short list of faults.

I, for one, can overlook RB2 patching for the entire team to get the Beatles game absolutely perfect.

Oh, I agree 100%. These problems shouldn't of been there in the first place. I just don't see them patching it in now. It's been a while since RB2 was released, and you would think they would've announced something by now.

Then again, I could be wrong. If they don't plan on releasing a RB3 within the next year or so, I could see them doing some sort of patch or even a small expansion that would fix these problems as well as add some new stuff.

It would be nice if someone would tell the charters to stop including chord to chord hammer-ons because they don't work.

I picked this up at GameStop last week, and the adapter does work fine with other pedals such as the RB1 and Roadie pedals. The pedal it comes with is exactly the same as the one that comes with the standard RB2 kit. The double pedal adapter does require 2 AAA batteries, and no telling on how long they will last since there's no on/off switch.

So far it's been working fine, but it's not exactly the same as double bass on a real drum set. Not having the bounce back of a real pedal is even more apparent when playing double-bass with the RB2 pedal. I think using this with a couple Rocker or Omega pedals with a practice pad would be much nicer. One major downside is that it seems to get confused with really quick hits - which kind of defeats the purpose of a double pedal.

We'll see how well it works with Guitar Hero Metallica this weekend. If it's not good enough to play Expert+ there, I'll be taking it back.

Are you talking about things like GR to RY whiffing if you hit Y before letting go of G, or something else? I've noticed that pulling off onto chords doesn't seem to work, but hammering on is way more reliable. Either way, they're fucking traps and I strum them

^I find it's a song by song basis... I can't remember off hand but I found they worked in one Pearl Jam song this week but didn't in another, no matter how many times I tried, so no, I too strum those. Just not worth it.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

That's something I've never understood about the charting. I've heard of songs that have been "broken" in the past. Notes that are impossible to hit.

I don't understand what the songs actually have in them for the note chart. It seems to me that those charts would merely be interpreted by the engine - something as simple as an XML format to define song attributes (tempo, number of measures, etc) and specific measure info broken down into notes and pauses. Solos spanning measures, etc.

It seem backwards to me that the song charts are programmed.
