No, no, no. Gary Richrath good. Kevin Cronin bad. We need "Roll With The Changes" and "157 Riverside Avenue".

No thanks. I'm only interested in niche bands that a developer at Harmonix heard in a college dorm room one time.

Remember that tonight is the last night to submit scores for Challenge #1. If no one else submits, our lone entrant will stand victorious! That being said, bring on Challenge #2!

DVDTalk Challenge #2
Billboard #1 Modern Rock Hits 1995

Two songs on the RB2 disc hit #1 on the Modern Rock charts during 1995. Alanis Morrisette's You Oughta Know held the title for 5 weeks from July 22 through August 19. Presidents of the Unites States of America and their song Lump managed to squeak into the top spot for one week on October 21.

Description: Play both songs solo on any instrument (or combination of instruments) and any difficulty. Combined score wins it!

How Long: 1 Week. I will accept scores via PM with screenshot from now until 12AM EST on Monday, 3/9/09.

I hope to jump in this time or next. I've been on a Rock Band hiatus since my ps3 fried, and I lost all my progress. But I hope to get back into it soon. I've even bought several songs without playing them yet, does that disqualify me, Shag?

Are there ever any deals on the new RB2 guitar standalone?

Nah, it's all good! The more, the merrier! I'll even let PS3'ers into the fray. :)

We don't need your charity!

Okay, fine. Maybe we do.

Wii is also getting SRV & the No Doubt single tomorrow + last week's Jimmy Eat World songs. Is this the first time they've got a simul-release?

Yep. Definitely some good news for the Wii crowd.

Absolutely.

I love Harmonix, but I'm calling bullshit on this one.

Apparently they're even associating it with the Return of Saturn album and not the Singles Collection to throw us off the scent.

Well, the only good thing I see coming out of this "New" situation, is that maybe we will be getting the last three tracks off Nevermind. We better...

Why? If it was part of the pack, the pack would have just been $2 more.

Just got back from Vegas this morning...checked out the Rock Band thing at Harrah's Saturday night. It's at the Carnaval Court bar, the place outside between Harrah's and Imperial Palace.

Didn't have my camera with when I was there. And to be honest I don't remember a lot...just that it's a riot watching drunk guys play Rock Band up on a stage while you yourself are plastered. They even had the AC/DC tracks available to play, apparently, since one group played Dirty Deeds.

I wasn't brave enough (even in my intoxicated state :p) to try, and there were just 2 of us anyways. The guys I saw were all playing on easy and medium, a couple played hard on some songs. All sucked, which is to be expected. It's kind of a cool bar to start, so add the RB on the stage, and it got   from me.

Holy shit. I feel like I got hit by a bus after Texas Flood. I can at least say that I successfully passed all 10 songs on the first run through. 2 5-stars, 6 4-stars, and 3 stars on both "Testify" and "Rude Mood." Just crazy stuff, but a hell of a lot of fun. And the album sounds amazing.

Anyone know the tiers (especially for drums) for the SRV songs and for New?

As it is it's 13 tracks for 1600 points. They've never done an 1800 point pack.

BSSM was 16 tracks for 1600 points.

Doolittle was 14 tracks for 1520 points.

I think "New" would have been fully subsidized in the pack. Even if they completed it with Trapped in a Box, I'd be shocked it was more than 1600 points for the full 15 tracks.

I don't have a way to get them all without looking them up individually, but they're all listed on the RB music page:

Thanks! For some reason I didn't think to check there.

Maybe...probably more like $1 more. I can't even remember...was it $18?

Am I the only drummer that had a bitch of a time with that Old '97s' song? I think I replayed it ten times before finally finishing with 3+ stars. And all this in the middle of a 4-song Challenging set. Immediately after was my old friend GGaHT... which is now, thank goodness, easy to pass, just annoying (and damn tiring).

"Rude Mood" looks insane. That's an impressive sightread pass.

I got through it on my second attempt, but I think I had just under 4 stars. It is definitely tricky, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty fun.

On the other hand, I still can't beat More Human Than Human on Expert. I've given up on it for the time being.
