Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
The competition kicks off in March when Harrah's Entertainment properties become the first in the world to have official and permanent, fully-equipped Rock Band entertainment stages. |
Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
That's what it sounds like to me.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Harmonix Music Systems, Inc. and MTV Games are making a generous minimum $50,000 gift to Starlight Children's Foundation to bring the power of music to children facing chronic and life-threatening illnesses. The partnership will allow Harmonix, the world's premiere music video game development company and creators of Rock Band(R), and MTV Games, publisher of Rock Band, to give Starlight children the chance to relax, enjoy and rock out to music in a fully interactive and social setting. In addition, more than 650 Rock Band(R) bundles have been provided to Starlight's seriously ill children at its Great Escape(TM) family events and to hospitals around the country. "We're honored to work with Starlight, which has an amazing tradition of offering support to seriously ill children," said Alex Rigopulos, CEO and co-founder of Harmonix Music Systems. "We hope that our contribution will give these deserving families a new avenue to spend time together and enjoy great music." Paul DeGooyer, Senior Vice President of Electronic Games and Music for MTV Networks Music & Logo Group, added: "We're very excited to be part of a program enabling Starlight kids and their families to rock out a bit through our placement of games in hospitals and at family events, facilitating once-in-a-lifetime getaways, and donations. It truly is a privilege to help Starlight and its mission." Beyond the monetary gift and product donation, the partnership will:
The Rock Band themed Great Escapes will give Starlight children and family members a behind-the-scenes look at Rock Band, a chance to meet the game's creators, a sneak peak at new content and other once-in-a-lifetime experiences. "We all know that music is healing, and we are expecting Rock Band products to have a powerful, therapeutic effect on our children," said Paula Van Ness, CEO of Starlight Children's Foundation. "Rock Band will provide distractive entertainment therapy for thousands of seriously ill children and their families, both in the hospital setting and on an out-patient basis." |

Good find, pinata!
Harmonix is great at this stuff! Giving sick kids some way to keep their minds off of their current situation is excellent therapy. |
Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
Gotta love Rock Band competitions, and a top prize is...the Rock Band bundle? Err?
|
Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
As much as I like the idea of traveling 40 minutes and paying $6/drink to play Rock Band, I can do it somewhere closer and cheaper.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
Looks like a bonus song showed up on the Euro-PSN Store.
Pick Up the Pieces by Average White Band http://rockband.scorehero.com/forum/...ic.php?t=21961 I had seen this song pop up on the Norwegian paper that leaked the Turbonegro thing, but it wasn't in our press release. We'll probably get it next week, along with that rumoured alt-country stuff. |
Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
Fantastic! Need some sax now.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
I wouldn't count on it.

Also, please try to refrain from jumping to conclusions in situations like this. As we have seen, they very rarely pan out the way people fantasize so it's probably best to keep our heads in reality for the time being. Using phrases like FREE SONG TOMORROW based off of an unconfirmed international third party post is exactly how rumors get started. |
Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
We better get more than just three fucking alt-country tracks next week. :(

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
Well, according to scorehero, it's up on the Euro-PSN store. If any of our resident PS3 rockers have a Euro-account, they could check up on this.
I just thought it was post-worthy. |

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
I agree that's it's newsworthy, Shag. Just wanted to be a voice of caution in case this isn't coming to the US (yet). ;)

Could it be some weird rights thing where Europe would get it but we wouldn't? |

That three mentioned would be the Zombie/Turbonegro. This "Average White Band" rumour has been alive since last Thursday/Friday.
