Just glad I didn't order the ps3 and wii like I originally planned when I heard this deal. I would feel like a real sucker then.

Perhaps just a pending charge or pre-authorization. The charge won't actually post.

Reminder : Final day to get in on that 50% off coupon from Amazon with $50 trade in. You must place your trade-in order by today, but you have another week to postmark it.
Had to part with a couple of games I hadn't played much at not-too-great value, but I'm getting Beatles Rock Band SE for $50 after trade in and ECA discount, so I guess I can live with it.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

So it's definitely still going on today? The ad on their website states "before July 18th" so I figured today wouldn't count. If it does, I am going to have to go ahead and gather some games together for the 50% coupon for the Beatles game.

That deal is just too sweet. I'm using my 50% on the Drum Rocker. Now I just have to wait to get the coupon!

It is just a pending charge, however, Bank of America takes the amount of the pending charge out immediately. So, they took the $185.99 out yesterday morning.

You used a debit card online?

Some of us spend real money, even online, and use our debit cards as credit online. I know I do.

I've been making online purchases with debit cards online since the 90s, and I've never had a single problem.

Another debit card user here. It's much better to spend money you actually have versus borrowing it.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I always use a credit card for two reasons:

1) Rewards Points
2) It's far, far easier for me to contest the charge with my CC company than it is with my bank. The last time I tried to contest a debit charge it took them 45 minutes and 3 managers to figure out how to even contest something.

Either way, I never, ever spend more than I make and I've never carried a balance on my CC. In fact, I'm constantly shocked my CC hasn't been canceled because of that.

One of these days I'll be disciplined enough to use a CC online again.

Just because you use a credit card doesn't mean you're spending money you don't have

But lordwow already said all of that.

of course I did. I don't do credit cards. I can wait for the money to show up back in the account, not a big deal. If I couldn't have missed the money for a few days I wouldn't have spent it.

Anyway, went ahead and picked up a wii at costco today anyway. My 5 year old loves it so far.

Hit up Sams club over the weekend and saw Mirrors Edge for $13.xx and Street Fighter 4 for $26.xx. They had both for PS3 & 360.

I use a debit card online. I have friends that are afraid of getting "hacked"

The card companies protect you so much nowadays it's not even a concern.

So you use a debit card as a CC, right? Even then, the danger is someone getting ahold of it and draining your account, if only for a day or two before they correct it, resulting in other bounced checks.

Wait, what forum are we in again?

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Mark me down as one of the paranoid identify theft people out there. It happened to a guy here at work and it took him months to get everything straightened out. I don’t even own a debit card knowing there is a chance that someone could drain my bank account in minutes. I use my credit card for every purchase, and pay the full balance every month.

Now, back on track. Amazon has Gears of War 2 for $29.99 for the three people out there that don’t own it yet.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

CAG is reporting a pretty good deal from Toys R Us if you're thinking of buying Wii Sports Resort. If you are a TRU Rewards member and you buy the game between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM on Sunday 7/26, you can get a $20 gift card. If you pre-ordered the game you get a $5 gift card (I'm not sure if you can still pre-oder though, I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago). I joined their Rewards club today and printed off a temporary membership card to take with me. So you can get the game, motion plus, and $25 in gift cards for $49.99.

You can also get gift cards if you buy other games from a select list. The list of games and the details are here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...d.php?t=231306

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Credit cards all the way. I pay off my balance every month. I get at least 1% cashback. I basically get paid to use my credit card. Plus, you defer the balance for at least one month while earning interest on the money in your bank account (that you will eventually use to pay the balance).

BTW I believe you need to register at CAG to be able to view the TRU thread.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I am gonna swing by TRU this morning and see if I can still preorder the resort game. Hope they do it as this makes it a pretty good deal.

I haven't received my 50% off discount coupon for trading in at Amazon yet. Anybody else not receive theirs yet?
