Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Split/Second (PS3 & 360) is on sale for $20 at Best Buy. It's still showing $33-$40 on Amazon.

I think I paid $40 and it was worth every penny. $20 is a no brainer.

Best Buy also has the new Kane and Lynch for $20. What is that now, two months the game has been out and dropped $40 already?

Good price on a bad game. Old Decker would have probably gone for that. New Decker is going to pass and try to get around to his unwrapped copies of Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 instead.

In what world would a $20 purchase of a shitty, shitty game supersede those three amazing and sure-fire hits?

I don't think he meant it would supersede them, just that old Decker would add to the backlog because of a great deal, despite having more pressing titles to play.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

So the purchase then would have nothing to do with getting around to them.

I'm just now getting to Darksiders I purchased with Bayonetta (also unplayed) and Borderlands at the last TRU B2G1 sale. And I added three more this from this year's sale...

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Perhaps you're right. Though I still think I'm more likely to tackle my backlog if I have less new games to play. Trying to really limit my new game purchases this fall. Absolutely getting RB3, likely NFS Hot Pursuit and Gran Turismo 5. That might be it. Skipping the TRU sale this year.

edit: Oops, and Fable 3 CE. That one I'll play right away.

Also Kane & Lynch 2 for $20 is not a good deal. Wait...are they paying you the $20? Then maybe.

Thank you , $15 was my price point. Did one for in-store pickup. Curious question maybe somebody can answer...if I transfer these to Rock Band 2, does that count for my 2400 points/get 800 points free in October? I know the RB2->RB3 import doesn't, but wasn't sure about this one.

It's not a discount if you buy shit you don't want.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

How can you tell what counts and what doesn't? I've purchased a ton of RB DLC in the past week, but I haven't gotten any points back yet.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

They've said anything that's a game add-on counts except for the disc exports. And the 800 points won't show up in your account until around the end of November/beginning of December.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

First of all, you won't get the 800-point rebate until late November, per the terms.

Secondly, we don't know what counts and what doesn't. The thing just says "XBLA games and add-on content". That's ambiguous.

Additionally, I tweeted @XboxSupport about it and their response was just "Spend those points! " so that sounds like it can be on ANYTHING, but who knows...

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

If you look at your purchase history on xbox.com everything is categorized. I guess someone could scroll through their history to check and see what LRB is labeled as to help Kedrix out....however I'm going to lunch.

It's called "Game Add-On" in my history. Doesn't mean shit, though.

Thanks ...but Pinata is right, it doesn't mean much. Though I suppose you could raise a real big stink and you might get it anyway. I'll go ahead and act like it is part of the 2400 points. If I get close, I'll purchase a couple of Lips or Rock Band songs to get me over the hump and hope for the best. Otherwise like Corvin said if you spend the points on crap you really don't want, it isn't a discount. But song exports not counting is silly. Doing the song export is still a choice (true, most of us will want to do it) and we are still spending points. Money is money as far as I'm concerned.

I think this has been answered, but if you buy Vanquish at Kmart and get a $20 gaming coupon -- then you return Vanquish due to ass reviews, do you get to keep the gaming coupon or do you forfeit it? Seems like a total scam if you can keep it.
