Plus, most employees are clueless about the program. When I signed up, no one knew about the program, where the cards were, or how to ring me up. Turns out, there is a bar code at the register they can scan.

I was going to ask that; if you just ask at the register about signing up, or if you have to find a sales guy on the floor to do anything special.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

No problem there. Pre-order it regular in store with $5 down. Go back on Tuesday and buy the game and the GCU at the same time. You'll still get the discounted price and the $10 certificate on the back end.

So is the GCU $120 or $30?

Does the GCU discount apply to the game purchased with the membership?

Apparently the discount applies to the game at time of purchase.

Hmm.. My GCU is good until Feb 2017.. If I can stack on another 2 years, that would be pretty darn nice. I'll have to head up there this weekend.

Good call. I did not think about that method.

Betting that Best Buy will be around in 2019 is not a safe bet.

How long is the sale? Just this week. There aren't any games that I want.

It's a $30 bet I'm willing to take but I had no idea they were in that bad of shape. I actually prefer Best Buy for my appliances than any other B&M or online store. They do a good job price matching sites like Amazon. I'd be bummed if they went out of business.

In the last 5 years or so I've gotten a TV and appliances at Best Buy as well. I hope they don't die.

I asked this in the Bayonetta thread, but let me ask here...

I'm going to sign up for this. Does this apply to pre-orders, or games on their shelves? Are there any Wii U game deals that makes this extra sweet right now?

Is the GCU membership $30 for 2 years or $60 for 2 years with this deal?

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

It's $30 for 2 years.

I answered the other question in the Bayonetta thread, but to reiterate,
You can go in on Sunday 10/26, buy the game and get the GCU subscription for another $30 and at that time, you'll save 20% on the game you're purchasing as well. There are no pre-order bonuses of Bayonetta or any other Nintendo-only games.

I appreciate the confirmation. I just got my Wii U a couple of weeks ago with some gift cards and this is my first system in awhile. I need to get back in the groove of looking for deals and exclusive stuff again.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

If Best Buy does go out of business then shopping for media and appliances is going to suck. And I can only imagine that it will cause prices on certain items on Amazon to rise rather than fall.
