GCU is the best deal in gaming to come along in some time at the 30 dollar rate.

Don't forget that if you play through a game somewhat quickly, you will be able to trade it in for $38-44 in credit. Rinse and repeat. :)

Yeah that's a good point, I was actually at Best Buy last night and looking to see if there's any cheaper games at that $39.99 price point that I might be interested in just to get in on this. I might just cave and buy something random. I don't really buy that many games any more (or usually get games on PC now) or one to trade in a lot of games either.

So for those of you who are getting the GCU deal, what is the game you will buy with it? Barring any sales, I will get The Last of Us Remastered or Need for Speed Rivals Complete.

I think I'm being cornered into getting Sunset Overdrive. I'm not super-excited for that game, but it's coming out that week and has a $10 Reward Zone credit. I figure if I don't love it, I could just trade it back in a couple of weeks later and still break even or make a couple of bucks. Plus there's that 99 cent hat as well. Wish I had waited on Super Smash Brothers 3DS though,

Bah! -ptth- But I will get to them....... someday. I think I'm getting tired of Destiny so I may have more time. The grinding and playing the same strikes over and over is getting old.

Back on topic, I assume this GCU deal will stack on top of my current sub?

Yup. Folks on CAG are already good until 2020. I'm "only" good for another 23 months, so might as well re-up at this awesome rate. NO WAY anyone regrets this purchase *

* Okay, there is one way : If Best Buy goes out of business. I really hope that doesn't happen.

I'm started to believe they will be out of business in the not too distant future. I have always been a huge supporter of theirs, but even I am tired of their bullshit. Case in point, yesterday I go in to buy a CD that I know they have on hand, yet it is nowhere to be found in the store. Happens all the time with newly released stuff that there is no excuse for it not being out on the floor. I have started taking my business elsewhere more and more.

There's less and less "elsewhere" to be found though.

Where can you check to see when your subscription runs out?

It's not very intuitive. Sign into My Best Buy. Then go to Rewards > Overview. It should be on the middle right side next to the Gamers Club unlocked logo.

Wherever there is a Best Buy, a Target can't be far.

So does it automatically add a year if you buy it on an account that's already activated, or do you have to jump through hoops?

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

It says that my subscription runs out a year before it should. They better get this corrected.

well, if this shit will stack, i'm in for Sunset Overdrive. I'll buy that w/ the current discount, get the $10 preorder credit, and then add the $30 GCU sub to extend my current one. That'll put me through to 2018, which is plenty of time.

That's how I understand it. I'll be sure to post here on Tuesday once I pick up Sunset Overdrive

Same happened to me when I went to buy Shadow of Mordor. The website said they had it, but when I went in to pick it up nobody could find it. Walked across the parking lot to Gamestop and bought it there.

I'll definitely bite on this GCU deal. If Sunset Overdrive or Lords of the Fallen turn out to be terrible, then I'll probably get Diablo 3. There's a few games on my list I haven't bought yet, so it shouldn't be hard to find something.

Cool, thanks. Not sure how I'm good through Feb 2016, but I'll take it. Maybe they extended it once their magazine subscription ran out?

Anybody with a recently expired or about-to-expire GCU subscription in late 2013 got automatically extended until Feb 2014. They also got the offer to extend for 2 more years at a cost of $30. If you're good until Feb 2016, my guess is you were one of those folks and extended your subscription late last year.

Is there a link to buying the GCU card anywhere? Or is this in store only?

Automatically stacks. Had a 2 year membership. Bought a new PS4 a few weeks ago when they were running free GCU with console purchase. It automatically added two years to my GCU expiration date.

Destiny Limited Edition for PS4 is going to be a lightning deal today at 12pm CST. I'm guessing $85.
