I haven't played 3 yet, but I absolutely loved the first 2 games in the series. The first game is a pretty standard revenge story, though sprinkled with some drug induced sequences that were pretty trippy. What stars as a very personal story turns into a pretty big conspiracy by the end. The sequel is more of the conspiracy being unraveled, but there's still a fair amount of revenge to be handed out.

The main storytelling device in the first two is that most of the story is told to you through panels of a graphic novel, with Max's voiceover leading the way. It gave the game a Noire-like feel. I'm guessing that the 3rd game probably gives a pretty good recap of the story, as its been so long between games.

It's 3rd person, and you don't have bullet time all the time. It's like in Red Dead Redemption where it depletes after a while and you have to wait for it to replenish.

I was about to bite on that PS Vita bundle for $179 but the proprietary memory cards really rub me the wrong way. I bought a 3tb HD earlier today for what their 32gb memory stick retails for. I'm passing, just not worth it.

You made the right call IMO. I wish I could get $179 for mine right now... What a waste it's been for me and to think I was holding out for Black Ops on it.

Through some miracle of luck, I was able to snag the PS3 3D display at Best Buy for $100, not a bad deal if I do say.

So jealous of Corvin. Nice haul! First time in years I couldn't get to a store.

Microsoftstore added some new games, I just picked up Tiger Woods 13 for 9.99. Gears of War triple pack is tempting as well.

I "splurged" this evening and got one of the limited edition copies of Darksiders II at Best Buy for $29.99. I'm done.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I tried to get one 1600 point card at Target. The CS rep at the service desk said it was the wrong one and that the one pictured rang up at $10. So I went back and grabbed three of the "right ones" (figuring if they were going to make me walk back and queue up again, it was going to be worth my while) but they also rang up at $19.99. The CS rep then did a price override. I ended up paying tax (which I shouldn't have, but at that point, I didn't want to push my luck), but overall $60 of points for $32.50 was a good deal.

Thank you SO much my friend! GOW is one of the only titles left in my Amazon wishlist and I've been waiting all week for a deal! Picked up Alan Wake with it. $21 total. Thanks!

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Black Friday was good to me. My backlog is insane so I usually only buy games when the deals are stellar...but here's what I got at Walmart last night and a quick trip to best buy today. $124 total!

Dead Island GOTY
Red Dead Redemption GOTY
Ratchet and Clank collection (got a second copy as a gift)
Ratchet and Clank All 4 One
The Sly Collection
Max Payne 3
GTA IV Complete
COD Modern warfare 2
COD Black Ops

Can't wait to get started!

This was a great year for games. Movie deals sucked big time this year.

Keep checking. I missed out on the Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper lightning deals. However, Amazon just reduced both games to the lightning prices. Hopefully they will do the same for GOW.

Found Dead Island GOTY on the shelf at BB. It was the only game I wanted and I got it with some 1600 pts from Targert.

Thanks for the heads up. I missed the lightning deals too. But just grabbed both R&C and Sly for $25. Nice!

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I was shut out at Amazon, and I hadn't planned on doing any B&M shopping, but I went out to Target for something else at around 8PM today, and they still had copies of Arkham City GOTY for $15. At that point I decided to press my luck and head over to Best Buy, and they still had copies of Dead Island GOTY for $7.99. Only other game I was looking at this season was Max Payne 3 for $8.99 at Kmart, and I was at Kmart yesterday and missed out on that one. The more I think about it though, I'm better off waiting for the GOTY version of that one as well.

Thanks for the heads up. For $15 I'll give it a go.
