Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Some of the other products and prices for today's lightning deals. Don't know how accurate this is coming from SD

PlayStation Move Motion Controller $25

PlayStation Move Navigation Controller $15

PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter $20

PlayStation Move Shooting Attachment $10

So I haven't really kept up with the Move stuff at all. Is it pretty much dead?

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

As far as motion-exclusive games, yes. Though there is an upcoming wizard game that looks cool and uses the Move like a wand. Where the Move still thrives is with Tiger Woods where using it as a club is far superior to the Kinect version, and in light gun games. house of the Dead 4 just came out and HoD 3 has been out for a few months. Both are a blast with a Move and the Sharpshooter. If you already have a Move and PS Eye, by all means pick up a Sharpshooter for $20 just for those games.
There are a few regular FPS games that can use the Move and Nav together like Resistance 3, Killzone 3, SOCOM 4 and Goldeneye. I think it's fun to occasionally try those with the Sharpshooter, but they play better with the standard controller. If you don't have anything yet, you can get a bundle with Goldeneye or R3, the eye, the Move and the Nav for $80 at GameStop. That's a better deal if you want it all.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Speaking of Move-enabled games, New Egg has the Kalypso game Air Conflicts : Secret Wars for $9.99 with free standard shipping for the 360 and the PS3.

From what I can tell, it's a mediocre WWII flight sim overall, but it has both 3D and full Move support on the PS3. It looks pretty damned cool to be able to control it like a flight stick.
Here's a very detailed, extended look at Move functionality with the game :

<object width="640" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JUKnFj9mN94&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JUKnFj9mN94&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></embed></object>

BTW : New Egg had got some speedy damn shipping. I ordered this about 5PM last night with my (barely used) free Shoprunner subscription. It arrived about 11 this morning.

Thanks for the heads-up. I at least put in a pre-order, though I'm not much of an online gamer.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Haven't seen anyone mention this. Through saturday, Target is doing a deal where you can trade in ANY 2 games from PS1 generation or up and get a $20 coupon for a game $29.99 and up. Not the greatest deal ever but not bad. It is a coupon, not a gift card. Also you have to use it same day.

I have unloaded some absolute crap PS2 games and got Dead Island, Dead Rising 2 Off the Record, LA Noire complete for $9.99 each and Rayman Vita for $19.99. There are several other $29.99 games in store that would be $9.99 after coupon.

Wait. So I can get rid of dozens of worthless original Xbox games and stock up on new $30+ titles?

It looks like any store with a mobile kiosk in their electronic section, which is most. I found a link to search on the Target website.

Why didn't someone post this 6 days ago?! I hate the kiddie traffic on CAG and rarely check there. I rely on some of you all to cull the really good stuff from there and post it here.

If you do venture to that other site, you'll see that there are people having problems with this sale, mainly because there's a database that they check against and if your title isn't in there, some employees will refuse you. They are apparently supposed to take any game, though, and they have some special promo item to input into the database when someone trades in Madden '00 or whatever, but YMMV.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

yep.. It's only specific titles too. Went in to get Assassins creed revelations(which is on sale for 30$) And took 2 ps1 game titles in. Only 1 was in their system so they would't let me do it. Not really thrilled, because those were the only two games I really wanted to get rid of at this time.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Does anyone know if you can use the coupon at a target that doesn't have the mobile kiosk? I went to one this morning, but the kiosk wasn't opened yet. They didn't have Rayman for 360 anyway, so I don't really want to drive all the way back if I can't use it elsewhere.

You can use the coupon at any Target, but it's only good the day that you received it.

I'm confused by your post. How did you get a coupon if they weren't open?

Also, how do you find out if your Target has a trade in kiosk thing? I can't seem to find any information about it on their site.

No, I don't want to drive back to the store to get one if I can't use it. The Target that has the game is close to me, but doesn't have the kiosks.

Thanks for letting me know I can use it if I get it though.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I finally got around to doing the Target deal last night. I ended up taking 6 old titles (2 PSX, 3 PS2, 1 XBOX) hoping at least 2 would be in the system, since I heard not all Targets would do the promo title override, even though Nextworth says they should.

The mobile associate said she hadn't heard or received an email about the promo title override, and went back through the emails to check. When she scanned a title that wasn't found it popped up with a yellow box saying something like "take this title as promo title #1? yes/no" so she said she could take them as promo titles if they weren't found.

The system only found 1 out of the 6, Everquest Online Adventures (PS2) that normally traded in for .77, and she went ahead and took Triple Play 2002 (PS2) as a promo title to get me the coupon. She said it was limited to one per customer, although some at CAG have reported trading in multiples, so I came home with the other 4 titles, and my $9.99+tax copy of Uncharted 3.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I also was only able to trade in one set at Target today. They said they got an email on Thursday to only allow one coupon per customer, but you could go to a different store and get another one.

I ended up going to two stores, and got Dead Island and Red Dead Redemption: GOTY (both 360) for $10 each.

No problems at my local Target, got the following games for $9.99:
Kirby Mass Attack DS, Uncharted 3 PS3, Assassins Creed Revelations PS3, Rayman Origins PS3, Gears of War 3 XB360, and Rhythm Heaven Fever Wii. I traded in a few PSP, PS1 and PS2 games that were only worth a buck or two on half.com

Looks like they will take used electronics as well. Anyone tried that to see what they get?

You can also use this website to look up games that are in their system with trade in values, just if you want to be sure to avoid being denied.

Disney Universe $7.99 new at Best Buy, all 3 consoles (links: 360, PS3, Wii).

Was free shipping, but thanks to the twats who ordered large quantities for a turnaround profit that's only available on Wii now and probably won't last much longer there either, so store pickup it is.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I ended up passing on the Target trade-in deal. Not my choice really, but with the late notice and working 15 hour shifts and my old game cases being in storage, there was no logistical way to get to a Target in time. I briefly considered calling in sick to be able to do this, but then remembered that I'm a grown up.

Hopefully they'll bring the deal back someday. I'd love to be able to get rid of all my now worthless old games.
