Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
I just found two of the most addictive games ever.
Alphabetic - find the letters of the alphabet. A to Z, Z to A, AA, BB, CC.... etc. Think it's easy? Think again! It's timed and there's letter animations. Half price ($1) today only. Symbolism - same thing as Alchemy. I didn't know what alchemy was, but I'm sure it's Wikipediad :) (too long to explain). |

Virtual Villagers - A New Home, price dropped from $5 to $2. It looks kind of interesting to me. Has anyone played it? |

Thanks for posting the info on it. |
Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
BTW I HIGHLY recommend Toucharcade.com. Easier than appshopper.com to see price drops and new games, and has a GREAT forum. I've gotten 3-4 promo codes for free games so far in a handful of days, and notices about cheap games. They're a good bunch :)

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
Where do you get free codes from? Do developers post them to get people to test out their games/apps?
|
Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
They have threads that say FREE PROMO CODE and you either get it on the thread, by PMing them, or through Twitter (Twitter is big there, for some reason... I don't care for it). They either want it on more people's hands, or it's falling from the Top lists and they want it back up, infuse it with energy, etc.
It is VERY HARD to get promo codes as people descend on them like vultures. But it's a great place to discover apps that are free for a limited time or reduced in price. 2 free apps - Lightbot and Rainbow Ninja. |
Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
Rolando now has a Lite version, for those still on the fence. Also Speed Flip is free.
And there's a cool little free app called Open Doors. You have to get from one room to another room through a series of rooms, and each door in one-way only. |
Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
I HIGHLY recommend visiting http://toucharcade.com/newest-iphone-games/ on a daily basis. I've gotten quite a few free games (not lite versions) after finding them listed there. And there's tons of $1 games, and easy-to-see price reductions. I find it better than appshopper.

Thanks Deb, great info.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
I downloaded Lux Touch and I'm enjoying it tremendously. However, I was thinking of upgrading it to the DLX version but the reviews are making me weary of it. People has been indicating that the game is plagued by slowdowns and bugs and with the exception of downloadable maps, the Touch version is much better. Hopefully, an update will solve most of the issues.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
thanks for recommending Toucharcade. I just spent the last few hours checking it out and got myself some cheap games. Trying out Days of Thunder now ($0.99 until the end of today) for some racing fun, and SpaceX is free right now. Pretty good space shooter but controls are a bit challenging.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
My wife bought Yard Sales Hidden Treasures and really loved it. I finally played it and it is a great search and find game. Similar to Mystery Case Files it has a nice polish you would expect from DS games. In addition to the regular search and find objectives you are finding items to improve your home. When you finish collecting everything for the level you then do touch screen minigames to assemble and fix up things for each room of your house. I'm probably half way through it and it seems to have plenty of content here for a very affordable $4.99 price point. It has a demo version for anyone curious.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
I'm downloading SpaceX too to check out.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
I cannot recommend Open Doors enough (free). It's a great and challenging puzzle game. I'm on the 4th puzzle (stuck).

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
Wunderadio is a great program. Radio stations from around the country. Now I can listen to Steelers or Pirates radio in California.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
Just purchased it, I'm looking forward to getting all the Australian radio content on my ipod!

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
I got Jackpot Casino ($6) for free (there's a thread at Touch Arcade, you might still be on time, you have to email a screenshot of any card game, I downloaded a free one for the screenshot) and it's awesome. Slots, poker, video poker, 21, craps, roulette, and Caribbean Poker. THIS is the casino game to get, and you get all that in 1 icon. I suggested adding Keno and Bingo :D If they had a Lite version, I would have paid $6 for the upgrade, that's how good this is.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
The only drawback to Wunderadio is the effect on battery life. It drains it so fast.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
I recommend Appsniper to anyone. You can go to the website or install it on your device for a buck. You can create a wishlist and it will notify you when your item is at a certain price or just has a price change (you set it up). Also notifies you of price changes and free apps. Great little program.
Also recommend the new Wooden Labyrinth for $3 (price will go up). |
Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
A free version of Puzzle Quest for the iPhone and iPod Touch has been submitted to iTunes and should be hitting the App Store next week.
Even better, TransGaming tells me that Chapter 2 of the iPhone trilogy will be released for free to owners of the original iPhone title as an update. The free update should be hitting in the next week or two and will include another 20 hours of gameplay for people who purchased Chapter 1. http://kotaku.com/5153254/iphone-puz...as-free-update |
Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
I just bought an app called Distant Shore from the makers of Koi Pond, and I highly recommend it.
The app is simple enough, and only really involves walking along a 3D beach to collect shells, and then sending/recieving messages in bottles to/from other people. Every five shells you collect gives you a bottle with which to send a message. People can reply to your messages, or you to their's. You tap or hold your finger on either side of the screen to walk along the beach, and there's a little Tiki hut in the middle. There's even a quick day/night cycle and the objects cast real-time shadows. Very simple, but with nice visuals and sound. I prefer more passive games like this for the iPhone, and it's fun to anonymously communicate with people from your little island. I also downloaded a game called Payback, which is a 3D (but with the camera still overhead) Grand Theft Auto clone. It was a waste of money, and I absolutely do not recommend it. |
Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
That Puzzle Quest announcement made me wet my pants. FOR FREE??? Sweet! 40 hours for $10 is a bargain. I wonder if Chapter 3 will be free too.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
Picked up Cro-Mag Rally and The Creeps! for $0.99 each today. Very addictive! If Pinball Dreams had a price drop too, I'd definitely pick that up.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk
What's the battery life playing Puzzle Quest like? Even though I played it to death on the DS, I'm starting to get more interested with this new announcement. I like Field Runners for example, but it's very heavy on battery usage. Meanwhile, 7 Cities can be played for a lot longer, at least twice as long I would guesstimate.
