Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk

Some decent apps I downloaded this past week:

*RunPee - tells you when to go take a leak during a movie at the theater.
*Bug Spray - it's suppose to repell mosquitos with some frequency. Haven't used it yet, so don't know if it actually works.
*Distant Stars - astronomy, has the constellations.
*Bump - allows you to transfer photos and data by just bumping phones with another IPhone user.
*Chase Bank App - this thing is awesome! Just like the commercial: deposit checks by taking pics of the check, pay bills, and transfer funds.
*CardStar - haven't checked it out, but you can store preferred cards from different stores.

Games:
*Word Warp
*Words with Friends
*Angry Birds
*South Park game
*Hungry Shark pt 1
*Michelangelo Jigsaw puzzle

All apps mentioned are free or have a free version. I haven't paid for one app yet (had phone 6 months).

I have never successfully gotten CardStar to scan. It is handy just to keep your number though as you can enter them manually at the store.

I've had it work, but only on the hand "gun" scanners. Agree, it is a good one to keep the numbers around (although I guess we could just save them in a notepad note, heh).

Looks a lot like Castle Crashers on XBLA.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk

Do people in this thread play on iPhone, Touch, or iPad? I have a Touch myself.

Just curious...

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk

Netflix's official app is out now. You need a Netflix plan with streaming to use it.

I was able to view my instant queue and watch a movie with little trouble. The sound and picture were good and there didn't seem to be any playback issues.

If you don't have an unlimited data plan, you might not want to stream videos while on 3G.

Wow, this is going to be like crack.

It works in 3G much better than I expected. No wirless here at work, but was able to install the app and be watching a film in about a minute.

Thanks for the notification on the Netflix app. Too bad we can't organize our DVD queue as well as the instant queue on the iphone.

Doesn't Flixster let you do that?

There's at least one other free app for that.

is there a way to tell how much data a particular move or episode takes?

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk

Yep I use Flixster and i.TV to reorganize movies and add to the DVD queue. But wouldn't it make sense to just have only one Netflix app? :-)

There's no excuse for a proper Netflix ap not to have Queue support.

Yup. I was shocked too. I mean, Flixster is great and all, it's just shouldn't be necessary anymore.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk

I imagine they'll eventually add it in an update. But with folders now, I don't mind keeping rarely used apps on my device. I have all the "movie" apps in one folder on my first page.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk

I was watching Best of the Best (i'm on a Eric Roberts kick) last night on my computer. Just downloaded the app, started the movie and it went right to the second where I stopped last night.

I think my battery is going to hate me

I'm so glad that I was able to keep my unlimited data plan. Otherwise I wouldn't download the app and tempt myself.

Just watched a 45 minute episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and no playback glitches at all. Looked and sounded good on my iPhone screen.
