You're wrong. :) Scrabble works the same way. There is a chat window in Scrabble but AFAIK, that only works if you are playing at the same time.

Also, when you set up games you can set a play pace. This allows you to "nudge" players who forget to play. If you set the game to a fast pace (2-3 plays per day) and a couple days elapse between turns, then an option opens up to ping/notify the player holding up the game.

The Facebook integration of Scrabble is the selling point, IMO. You can play matches with people on Facebook who don't have an iPhone. Any mix of players up to 4 can do this. It also keeps track of your stats (W-L record, longest word, word with most points, highest score, etc.) I haven't played WWF in a long while so I don't know if that is a feature these days. I have an iPhone but my wife doesn't, but we can still play Scrabble. I play a word, it sends a notification to her Facebook profile letting her know it's her turn. She plays on FB and it shoots me a notification on the iPhone.

With Scabble you get a built in Dictionary (I'm sure that's a con for Scrabble purists), but it comes in handy, especially for the 2 letter words right at your fingertips.

The thing I love the most about Scrabble though is something subtle. The game totals your word as you play it on the board. When you start trying 6-10 different word combos and placements, doing all that math and keeping track of it in WWF is a PITA.

I also love the shake to shuffle the tiles on your rack, but I think that has been added in one of the updates.

All this is a moot point though if your friends play one game and you get the other. WWF is free, but I find the pool of players is 10x as large with Scrabble given the Facebook integration.

interesting about Scrabble. Every review I've seen says the multiplayer is horrible. Even from the description it says "Challenge friends via Facebook, or square off in Pass N' Play or Local Network Play" So basically I can't play another person on an iPhone directly?

Do you mean on the same phone or two phones?

Someone on another iPhone.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk

You can definitely play someone on another phone. Not being able to doesn't even make any sense. You can play 4 players on phones. You can play 2 on phones and 2 on FB. 3 and 1 and so on. You can sit in the same room and play over WiFi if you want (seems kinda silly though).

I'm not trying to sell anyone on the game but the features really mean nothing if all your friends play WWF. All my friends play Scrabble, so that's what I play. I talked my brother into getting it and he hates it because all his friends play WWF.

Also his biggest gripe about Scrabble (which is totally justified) is load times. You are up and going in WWF in seconds. In Scrabble, on a 3GS it takes about 30 seconds to get through the intro animation, the menu, syncing with FB and getting into a game. It's even longer on a 3G phone. 30 seconds isn't long, per se, but if you play often it certainly adds up.

I'll play. What's your user name on the game?

EA released NCAA football with HD graphics. I risked the $8 and picked it up. I haven't tried Madden on the iPhone yet so I can't say if it plays any better but the game is beautiful to look at. It really takes advantage of the extra resolution. Worth the money if you're a fan of the console versions.

I bought and checked out that 99 cent Assassin's Creed game. It's pretty damn good for an iphone game -- I think it's a DS port. Also grabbed that Gangstar game, which seems like a pretty solid GTA 3 rip-off.

My Virtual Girlfriend is on sale for 99 cents. It's goofy enough to pay a buck for.
