Played around a bit for the last hour, more clothing choices would be a big plus. I downloaded the free Gears 2 Theme that Gamestop gave away at the launch and it looked pretty good too.

Only 6 minutes to do the update for me. I like the new interface. Downloaded the Netflix app and it works pretty good considering my weak DSL connection.

I hadn't heard that. There are issues going from 20 -> 60 that aren't there going from 20 -> 120?

I was playing Fallout 3 yesterday and was disconnected from Live. When I tried to login again it said I needed to update. I saved my game and then did the update.
I even copied the game to my hard drive and noticed the difference in noise.
I still need to find how to do a lot of things.
Are there themes? right now I have a Gears of War 2 picture as my background. Can I change that?

There are a few premium themes in the market place for 250 MS points.

They are nice looking, from what I can tell. They change various parts of the new dashboard. If you pre-ordered Gears 2 from GameStop, they gave you a download code for a premium theme.

Other themes you may have had or could download, will work, they will just not change various things in the new dashboard such as the images behind each friend in the new friends list.

I'd assume that more premium themes will come out in the future, hopefully some free, and for different games.

I upgraded my HD to the 120 last month as well, and I've also noticed that all my XBLA games are up in less than 5 seconds. Before it would take forever for all of them to load up.

Just ordered the 120GB in anticipation of loading games to the HD. Can't wait for this update.

For other who are interested, they've dropped to $99.99 at Circuit City and with the $15 off $100 coupons available in store, it makes them only $85. They're $90 on clearance at Target. Of course these drops only happened after the major retailers discovered that I had already bought one off ebay.

yes. i've read alot of people get data errors when trying to go from a 20 gb to 60 gb. do a search. tons of threads around about it.

Hrm. I'll take your word for it. I'm at work and behind a filter so this is the only forum i check during the day. Looks like it will be an upgrade to a 120 gig HDD then.

Any idea how long it takes to copy everything over to the new HDD? Any ideas if i should do this before the NXE hits tomorrow or wait until afterward?

I'd probably do the transfer before the update. That way you know that your data and game saves are working before you get hit with the NXE update.

As to time it takes, depends on how much you have. I think 15 minutes is the min, but might take a ltitle longer.

The 120 gig on its own comes with the transfer cable, correct?

It is when you buy the Elite that you need to request a cable i thought.

My 20GB was essentially full, and it took a little over an hour to transfer everything over to the 120GB.

I'm not even seeing the 120 gig drive listed on the CC website. The 60 gig bundle is even out of stock. Perhaps the beginning of them having nothing in stock is upon us.

Yes... the 120 gig drive comes with the cable. If you buy an elite, you need to contact microsoft for a cable. Really stupid if you ask me. It should come with the elite as well.

Well i found the coupon online. It is good for online purchases that you pick up in-store only. Unfortunately i can't find the 120 gig HDD on their site at all. After work today maybe i will just drop by and see if they have one in stock at the 99$ price. I have a 20$ gift card from Gears 2 that is burning a hole in my pocket and i want to spend it before they go completely out of business. :lol:

I bought a new 120gb on ebay yesterday for 144.99 - 10% coupon - 25% live.com cashback (in 2 months) + $6 shipping + $1.70 ins for a total of $138.19 out of pocket ($36.25 coming back from live.com). I'm going to give it to my mom to give to me for Christmas plus she's going to pay me the $150 purchase price so I'm coming out $50 ahead all said.

Now I need to figure out what won't transfer as I've heard that some game saves don't. I need to research that and use my MU if possible for those.

wow - for such a significant update, that was pretty quick. it took less than 5 minutes from start to finish of opening video clip. the new dashboard "feels" much more responsive. netflix worked as advertised. thus far, i am impressed.

How are people getting the update already?

There was a preview sign up about 3-4 weeks ago. They've let in select few over the past few weeks and last night they opened it to everyone that signed up.
